Nils, you are awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this series! This is career changing information; It's a solid foundation to build a live show off of. I honestly feel 10x more prepared to move my music from the studio to the stage. Cheers Homie!
AH Nils, You are Amazing, Thank you for sharing. I've gone the long route to have a better understanding for my own customization of my gig set up and creativity, and so far my Midi Trigger works and my meta events work too THANK YOU! I'm excited to set up the rest of the set and practice with it.
This is Great Nils, thank you so much. I'm using Logic to send DMX controls to my lights, this gives me a way to do that dynamically (and you've got me thinking about peppering in some additional backing parts to free up some of my keyboard triggering. I'm also going to look into the Live Tracks feature of Logic. I feel like that might be a way to allow for a little more live interaction with sequence clips. Really thorough explanation!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you Nils. I was not aware that Logic Pro X was able to use it as a backing track machine. I was using Mainstage 3, what is good, but not for too many audiosamples. cheers
thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge in this matter, I've Been planning for long time to make a project like yours, and this serie that you made is amazing. is like a gold mine of knowledge. lets work now!
Dear Nils Thank you for this great tutorial. I'm thrilled and was able to completely upgrade my live setup thanks to your great description. Thank you very much. But now I'm still faced with a problem. Maybe you can give me some crucial advice. When I play live, at certain points I want to play the software instruments I use live in Logic. To do this, I created the channel strips in my project. Now my question is: is it possible for the channel stripe to be selected automatically, triggered for example by a Midi event, so that I have the right sound for the right song on my keyboard? Thank you very much for your feedback and best wishes from Switzerland. Chris
Hi Nils , great videos , but you don’t talk about vocals , and if you use a separate mixer to front of house for vocals ? Or do the vocals also go through Logic ? Cheers
Vocals and any instrument you play would go through FOH, back ground vocals or vocal doubles could come from Logic. You could route your vocal mic or guitar/ keyboard line through logic as well to utilize some effects, as long as latency is not too much of a problem. ruclips.net/channel/UC02tOD99oFdYwiUixJQFvRQ
@@nilsguitar Thanks Nils🙏 to avoid latency issues, I tend to keep vocals going through a separate mixer into my PA as it has 2 dedicated inputs per unit ( 1 & 2) , my wife is the lead singer in our band or duo , so the dynamics have to be right on the money to cut through the mix clearly . Another question I have is , is it possible to turn the repeat loop ( yellow section ) on and off, say during a guitar solo , so that it will repeat that section over and over , then just carry on with the rest of the track when turned off ? This would be epic for instant decisions on guitar solos ( as I play alot of blues ) ive looked into the midi key editor , but can’t get this ( what seems ) a simple function to work . I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos . Thanks 🙏
@@ShawnCharles yes of course that’s the whole idea . I forward the loop to the next cycled section once I’m done with my solo, which could be the next song in which case the end of the song go to and stop events would catch before it gets there.
Hi Nils, I already had my first gig using this logic set up, everything went the way planned, except for a couple of song that went out sync when I changed the tempo to make them "more up beat for dancing" and skipped the part where you double check the song to make sure everything was ok (My Bad) besides that, everything great, thanks a lot for sharing the info.
I always run the show at home to practice and make sure everything is alright. including making sure the click is in sync. Once you have a good working live logic session it might be a good idea to smpte lock all regions in pace to prevent accidental shifting
@@nilsguitar I won´t skip running the whole set list before the show, lesson learned the hard way, we covered the problem, but could have been a catastrophe
I got this template and I’m having an issue with playing software instruments. My midi controller is reading in logic if I want to map buttons and faders but when I try to play the keys on a software instrument I get no input or output. Can anyone help?
Not quite sure what you mean "in a protect?" maybe project? Add markers for each cycle , like intro, solo, vamp etc. Make sure each cycle length is exact so it doesn't jump when it repeats. Check out episode 4 about 10 min in
That's a good question. I have to think about it. You would probably need a continuous control( MIDI foot volume) pedal and sign it to master Vol in Logic
These videos have been instrumental for me. I have one question however…. How do you get the levels right on all of these stems? To make sure things aren’t too quiet or loud.
the fermata is played live by me/the band without the tracks. In the example during the fermata hold on the phrase " Love will save the day" I press the start button and in this case I did not need a count in, since the tracks started with a drum loop

Thank you Nils, really appreciate that. We're a duet (vocals & bass) and this series is fantastically useful for us.
Thanks again for sharing this

Incredibly useful series of videos to help musicians utilise Logic Pro in a live band situation. Thank you so much for this Nils. Awesome job! 😎
Great Nils! Thx my friend! I’ll watch the whole series from beginning! Hope to see you again eventually after Covid

Do you know if it’s possible with a midi command coming from a controller to do an on-demand master fade out in Logic?
That's a good question. I have to think about it. You would probably need a continuous control( MIDI foot volume) pedal and sign it to master Vol in Logic
hey Nils what do you use for notes, lyrics and how do you do it.i tried with a different marker set but the original markers don't work
create a blank track ( MIDI track ) and add blank regions ( pencil tool) which you can name with your notes
These videos have been instrumental for me. I have one question however…. How do you get the levels right on all of these stems? To make sure things aren’t too quiet or loud.
Use region automation to adjust the volume on a region or change the gain in the inspector left top.
But how do you create that Fernata?
