The way he played in his last few years,had he continued for 4 years he would have definitely scored 10000 test runs before retirement,look at yunus khan from pak he continuously and reached 10k mark
there will never be a better timer of the cricket ball specially through the off side. His impact as captain was so great that we often forget what a great classical attacking batsman he was. I miss his batting.

Had he continued to play for couple of more years he might've scored more than 9k or maybe 10k runs. He really looked better in shape and performance
