my first rock concert (in the mid 1970s, early teens) was rush opening for kiss in san antonio texas. I hitch hiked the 40 miles to the show and caught a ride back after. no one booed the opening act that night, though many a fan was born. went here to see kiss, and was so blown away by rush I hardly even remember the kiss show..... more great memories from my early rock journey.....

God, I miss the rock ‘n’ roll era! These days, you would never see anybody do something like that. It would be incongruous with the times. The singer would probably sit there and cry. Get all in his feelings. He’d need a hanky. … and a hug. Back then, though? Hell yeah! We would be deliciously scandalized by it. Horrified, to be sure. Very bad. Bad Sammy! Naughty, naughty boy! But, oh, the conversations it would spark in people! The disbelieving tones of voices we would have. We just couldn’t believe it. But, it’s what we expected out of our Rockstars. And, if we didn’t get it, we would wonder what was wrong with them. “ you mean they booed him and he just took it lying down?“ lastly, you can bet your ass a lot of us would’ve been in attendance at the next concert in case he did it again. Probably boo him even though we liked him just to wind him up.

Per hostile crowds...it's in really bad taste to boo or heckle an opener when they are tight, and fit the genre of the headliner. Even if they've a little different. The headliners usually pick the opening bands so it's disrespectful to them as well. I saw Hagar open for ZZ TOP on the Eliminator tour and he came close to owning ZZ TOP. This was right before the Can't Drive 55 video was released. I had only heard Montrose and the song Heavy Metal from the movie. He was awesome and did his job warming up the crowd almost too well. If the band that opens has no business being on a bill and has nothing in common with the headliner I get it. A Band like The Cure opening for a band like Maiden? Yeah they're going to get pelted with everything the audience can get their hands on. That's kind of expected. Those are the situations when you can blame the promoter or whoever the out of touch idiot who booked that band to open.

Yeah, I disagree with that. When I was a kid, the makeup hooked me, and I wanted to know more. But, the music is what made me a fan. The same can be said of Snake Sabo, Slash, Garth Brooks, Lenny Kravitz, and on and on and on. They discovered KISS and their music, and it inspired them to become musicians. I'm a HUGE rock music fan, and it all started with KISS.

Dude, This is old news! Why do you make it like you have some big scoop? You should at least tell your viewers the story was broadcast on the Eddie Trunk That Rocks show 2 weeks ago!

At the 1:11 mark, I say Hagar told, "That Rocks." Thank you for trolling my channel, and I appreciate your comment. That comment helps the channel grow. Thank you!

In Sammy's Defense it was a KiSS crowd .. Remember..Many of these people actually think Ace Frehley is some sort of great Guitar player, it's funny to watch them clamor for his return for this whole " Last show" thing, even tho you can turn on RUclips videos and cringe at how horrible he is

The only defense I give him is just that he was a young rock star. Ha ha! There aren't many of them who didn't do stupid stuff back then.
And, yes, Ace's playing is pretty bad these days.

Sorry but Hagar sucked ass live back in 1977 , he was great with Montrose but he wasn't that good on his own, the truth just hurts sometimes, sad about the Strat though, what a waste.

You know, I have no clue what he was like live in 1977. I should probably see what kind of footage I can find on that. 🤔
