I’m an old geezer so I’m going to get some blowback for this. But I grew up listening (retroactively to 60’s rock), and 70’s rock. For me the 80’s were a wasteland musically for rock -particularly the so called hair bands. To me their music lacked soul and authenticity. The singers were all trying to out do each other with high pitched vocals, which was a shame because some of those songs had grooves in them. But there can be no doubt that when alternative rock hit the radio, it immediately and I mean immediately killed those 80’s bands. The new bunch had soul and in some cases sounded like garage bands. And I mean that as a compliment. It was so refreshing to me to hear music that once more sounded unpolished and full of passion. So let there be no doubt that alternative rock absolutely crushed hair metal overnight and immediately…no matter what else was going on with these bands.

This was good thank you for an informative video with no bias or negativity. I see so many videos about what a bad guy Eddie was, how u fairly he treated Micheal. Maybe it's true maybe not but we aren't supposed to speak ill of the dead, especially if that person gave so much joy to the world. Ed had his demons we all do, some are darker than others. GHB is a known cure for benzo withdrawal. I only sleep like 4 hours a night. If I could get GHB I would be able to sleep but the FDA are bought and paid for. Bs country

This is a fascinating story but i dont know why anyone mentions the last VH album being rehashed old demos. Anyone who knows anything about the band knows that theyve drawn on old ideas pretty much all through the catalog. House of Pain from 1984 predates the debut album. Seventh Seal l's music was a riff Eddie came up with on th 70s.
