Rock n roll has nothing do with punctuality. It's literally created by African Americans who pride themselves for being on "colored people time", or in other words being late consistently.
Just the fact that Ace is sitting there alone with two thugs, and Justin is standing in a line for his coffee says it all. But Justin could win anybody over with his charm in a skinny minute!
I don't mean to be argumentative here, but I reckon that Ace being a guitar legend for over 40 years means that he's constantly mobbed by fans when out in public. If the man wants to sit down and just enjoy a quiet morning cup of coffee in a public place he can't without someone there to guarantee his privacy. He's been doing this for over 50 years now- and doing it practically non stop. That's a lot at 72 years old and I should think he's earned the right to a peaceful cuppa. Justin Hawkins is adorable and charming, I agree. However, I thought he was kind of beating a dead horse when he continued on-and-on about the tardiness. I think he should have spoken to KK's Priest being late which, in turn, caused Ace and his band to be late. I appreciate that he tried to make up for it by posting the photos on social media. Acknowledging that it wasn't, in fact, Ace Frehley's fault that The Darkness went on late would have been the gentlemanly thing to do.
Ace came in AFTER Justin was already there getting his coffee and Ace did have 4-5 security guards with him (ridiculous 🙄) i was there before either of them came in and saw the whole thing. It was over the top on Ace’s part and he was in the wrong for being late for both of his shows like no one else’s time mattered.
I wasn't sure who was there first. I was there when Justin came in; he got in line behind me. Just after we ordered, I saw Ace in the back corner. Just as we got our coffees, Ace's security approached Justin.
I was also there and happened to be sitting in certain circles where a variety of discussions were had regarding Ace's tardiness and I believe part of it was because he forgot his favorite jacket and he had to walk all the way back to his room and back to get this jacket. I think that was part of the reason, but not the full reason that Ace was late. But that did take a whole extra half hour. I was also waiting in line forever to get into the venue so that was bummer, but then later on... Being privy to another discussion amongst various drummers at the karaoke bar. We also heard that KK played Longer than his allotted time right before Ace Frehly's show... so it just was a variety of things that caused that situation to happen but I love The Darkness and it was a blast and I laughed at everything he said. @@dmgcaster904 Zero substantiation to any of those claims. Ace has always done all his own work. It sounds the same as all his other stuff except the songs are too much about love and poppy. But the sound is pretty much classic Ace.

Ace needs to check his enormous ego and get a grip on reality. The years of drug abuse have clearly warped his sense of self righteousness. Was Time he ate a little humble pie and Justin was the right guy to help him. You don’t go on late and directly affect other bands and their schedules. End of story, no matter who you are. That’s just being a dick.
People romanticize way too much about Ace. I would never put up with that shit either. If you’ve seen anything ace has done live in the past 10 years, it’s pretty pathetic. His band literally carries him. Then he’ll do this guitar solo in the middle which is only him playing zeppelin riffs. Ace should be greatful he even gets these opportunities these days. And yes, I’m a kiss and Ace fan. I will always like the music.
Entertaining story. Justin just having some fun. British humour. Ace the Godfather in back booth is funny. But, Spaceman seemed ok, thumbs up. Space ACE.
I remember when Ace was doing the publicity tour for his Trouble Walkin' album the local radio station (WHJY out of Providence, RI) was having a CD signing at a gas station not far from where I lived. I biked down there wanting to get his autograph and when I got there I saw that there was barely anyone there. There was a DJ, Ace, a few fans...and that was it. Ace was noticibly annoyed and spent the whole time he was there sitting there looking pissed. He barely talked to anyone until the DJ asked him what his issue was. Ace seemed to realize he was being a jerk and started talking to the two or three of us who were willing to stick around. I'll never forget the look on his face when someone asked him if his appearing at a gas station was because he was looking for work. As far as Justin goes if Ace is going to be disrespectful like that and fuck with another bands time (as well as waste fans time) he deserves all the C-words and wig jokes he got. I think it's stupid he needs more than one bodyguard to stick up for him and his drummer needs to grow up.
I applaud Justin for speaking the truth! Ace was late for BOTH of his performances during that cruise. Uncool as hell and rude AF to all the artists and fans waiting on the other bands sets.
I believe the sound issues were the Reason or a bit of the Reason for the first show being so late. MORC sound crews were really having a hard time getting the feedback handled for quite a while on a lot of the first band sets that were played
I have been a big Ace fan since 1978 and didn't really know anything about Justin Hawkins until I came across his podcast Justin Hawkins Rides Again which is absolutely awesome! Check it out! I had no clue how unbelievably funny and talented this dude from the Darkness is, and he is 100 times the musician Ace is on any and every level. In the last 10 years or so I have steadily lost a lot of respect for Ace, his uninspired amateurish music and his bitter nonsense. He was late! He was the problem! And he ends up with the attitude because someone called him out on his bull shit, and he sends a goon to do his talking? Mr. big bad Brooklyn gang member badass can't confront a 120lb Justin on his own? Wow Ace I bet your girlfriend was impressed! Hahaha!!!! Ace it's appropriate you were at sea when this took place because you have finally jumped, or in your case, stumbled over the shark completely.
Given Ace’s history of not soundchecking, being a dick to lighting and sound staff, showing up late, notoriously showing up in bad shape (see the recent Florida disaster), I don’t know why people bother buying tickets for his shows now. I get he’s the Spaceman, you grew up with him. But if people would stop going to his shows, that would solve a lot of this crap.
I did not hear about this until now.I know Justin is playful. They are both well seasoned rock stars & I know Justin loves to get his fans roused for a fun time. I don't know Ace's personality but there's no doubt of both being talented guitarists. I think both can handle this sort of "thing" occuring. It's not exclusive to rock & they are both stars capable of being gentlemen & seeing the humor of it all.
I'm a HUGE Kiss fan and Ace is the reason I started playing guitar. That said, Ace is the least personable of all the original Kiss members. I'm also a big Darkness fan, and all those guys are super cool and down to earth, especially Justin. I've spent 5 awkward minutes with Ace and about 15 fun and hilarious minutes with Justin. Still love Ace, but he has turned into a bitter old man. Justin was just having fun. Ace needs to look back at his Tom Snyder appearance. That Ace would have gotten the joke.
@@glengamble526 Sorry to hear that has been your experience. I've met Peter multiple times and spent almost half an hour with him once and he has always been super cool with me.

Hey, Ace, you can be late showing up, nobody cares, just don't be late getting off the stage when your time is up. That's pushing your BS onto the next band. I'm glad Justin spoke up.
If Ace was the headliner and The Darkness did that to him, he would get mad too. You don't make the headliners wait for 40 minutes to go on stage. Ace should have cut some KISS songs on his set list as a favour. No one wants to see him butcher those songs anyway.

But he will soon forget about this when the allegations of almost zero participation in the creation of his latest, 10,000 Volts come to light and begin piling up. It's being said that he did next to nothing! I'm glad he off of the nose candy and found a good agent but c'mon Ace!
@@dmgcaster904 Zero substantiation to any of those claims. Ace has always done all his own work. It sounds the same as all his other stuff except the songs are too much about love and poppy. But the sound is pretty much classic Ace.
@@roberthaizlip4057 I love Ace. He is an old coke-head (self admitted) There are allegations, none of which I made. ruclips.net/video/210bRbl4h8c/видео.html
@@roberthaizlip4057He never did his own work. Too screwed up and or lazy. Thats why they had ghost players on the KISS albums from 77-on.
He wouldn't be the first rockstar to lose their sense of humour when the joke turns on them. How Ace could have avoided all of this? apologise on stage for running over, job done!
Anyway it was just a bit of a laugh, I don't think anything too bad was said!
Justin is just a british blatant beast, his humour is full of darkness
Well done Justin, always professional and happy to call out an arsehole .
when I saw a Darkness show a few years ago, Justin was like that, funny and made everyone laugh after every song.
i grew up loving Ace but Justin cracks me up. I like him!!!!! He don't take no shit haha
Rock & roll should be dangerous. I love it.
Entertaining story. Justin just having some fun. British humour. Ace the Godfather in back booth is funny. But, Spaceman seemed ok, thumbs up. Space ACE.
That was awesome. Justin was being funny.
I love Ace and this was hilarious.
Ace is always late. Its about time he got called out on it. He's a lazy sob and there is not one person who has worked with him that can dispute that.
Darkness rules. New fan Justin 🤣
If a band isn't ready to play when scheduled, procedure should be that the next band goes up straight away. Late band has to wait.
That wouldn't work. Too many other factors.
@@jaywalshmusicandsong1736 Such as?
Remember your comment waiting for the plumber to turn up when you have a leak mate!!
@@ViceSquad Plumber late? Call another one.
Sounds like rock to me
@@roberthaizlip4057There you go again,

Don't fuck with Justin Hawkins. He will own you six ways from Sunday.
The guy is weak. 😂
Lol, no. And he plays circles around Ace, even on Ace's best day. There's a reason Ace opened for Justin. @@misterreason486
We love you Justin!!!!!
What I want to know is who the hell would want to sit through a Ace's set of an hour of grandpop?
Ace frehley the godfather of what it certainly ain't good music
Justin has just become a legend.
Being a huge KISS fan, I love this!! Maybe it's because I'm not an Ace fan that much ;-)
Ritchie Blackmore needs to weigh in one this. He is the King Of Wig Rock.
Joe Turner, too 😂. Ritchie Blackmore is a Mount Rushmore guitarist 🎸 easily. Top 3 in the world in his day
JT has alopecia and doesn't even have eyelashes or eyebrows.
Really? I took at poking fun toward Ace! Now that I see this, this is so hilarious! Taking a bow to Justin for sure, flipping the bird to Ace! :)
I strongly disagree, having met t all several times.
Peter is a jerk almost always.
@@glengamble526 Sorry to hear that has been your experience. I've met Peter multiple times and spent almost half an hour with him once and he has always been super cool with me.
People wonder why Ace isn't in KISS... There you go. Do you know how many times Ace did that to KISS and their fans? I saw him 6 months ago. i wish I could have gotten a refund. That's how bad it was.
Hey, Ace, you can be late showing up, nobody cares, just don't be late getting off the stage when your time is up. That's pushing your BS onto the next band.
I'm glad Justin spoke up.
Great recap!
Thanks!
If Ace was the headliner and The Darkness did that to him, he would get mad too. You don't make the headliners wait for 40 minutes to go on stage. Ace should have cut some KISS songs on his set list as a favour. No one wants to see him butcher those songs anyway.
Justin is awesome!
I Love Justin Hawkins! Not unusual for him to put someone in their place if necessary.
I'm with Justin. He's right and also hilarious. Love how he is calling out the BS. Way to stand up for yourself man. Why should they suffer cos someone else "plucked" up
Sounds like Ace knew he was wrong and Justin played it just right. Kudos.
Justin is just an intergalactic treasure. The whole galaxy is behind him, and only the planet Jendell will be up in arms over this.
It is a cruise!☀️ 🌴 Where else does anyone need to be? It should be 'how you wait' that matters not how long. Me thinks🎙️ I like them both ~
Yeah, no. Typically things are late on this cruise. But with Ace it was far more than normal. We all pay pretty good money to go. Ace can leave his ego at the door. He is not all that.
I haven't heard of The Darkness, I'll have to look them up. The only reason I would need to see Ace live, would be to say I did, and that really doesn't motivate me. 😅😅
The Darkness is actually really good.
@RockNewsDesk I did check them out. And just like that, I was back in the 80's.
I don't get it isn't be late on stage. Sinonim for Rock n Roll. 🤘🏻Justin is a 👑. That was so interteining.. 🤘🏻
Being late universally is loathed Ace needs to get it together
Team Justin here, now can anybody hand the guy a t-shirt, plis!
Thanks for using my picture. I was totally surprised. I think the singer of The Darkness went a bit overboard. Nice to see that they made up, I guess
Hey, man! Thanks for posting that for me.
Hawkins is a lousy poser it is boring already
He really didn't. In the UK, friends say far far worse to each other over a few pints and laugh about it 😂
yea, it's like that in Philly too. lol@@johnnysully2689
@@johnnysully2689he wasn’t in the UK. Come on over to the states and start tossing out “Cunt” to the rude cashier somewhere and see how awesome that is for you. You dink. 🤣

I had no idea Ace wore a wig 😂 That’s hilarious! 🤣
Btw Justin rocks and has an awesome sense of humor.. Ace not so much
Justin is the best
I genuinely didn't know about Ace and wigs.
Me too , now I'm sure thank you Justin 😉
You gotta lose your wig in Detroit Rock City
You DO know that Eric and Tommy are the only ones left in the band with their own hair, don't you? Simmons has his own licensed and trademarked franchise of puppy mills that breeds nothing but long-haired Rottweilers from which they harvest the hair used for whatever that thing is that Gene wears on his cranium.
@@markpr73Eric's natural colour is more leaning to blonde and longer than the shorter black haired wig.
Great video. Subscribed.
Thank you!
If, as Hawkins walked away he’d said, “now go get those TPS reports” it would’ve really sealed the deal #gogetyourshinebox
I love Ace but, if he was late, Hawkins is right. However, if Hawkins wanted to play more music, maybe he should not have wasted so much time talking to the audience !
I’ve seen KISS 6 times and they were never more than fifteen minutes past show time. Saw ace once and he was an hour and fifteen minutes late. A friend who has seen Ace three times before said he was always more than an hour late. I liked his new album but I’m glad Hawkins called him out in a joking way
The Darkness were one of the headliners.
All the KISS guys seem like crybabies. You'd think they'd be used to it after years and years of being at each others throats in the media etc...Grow up already.
when comes right down to it, Justins not wrong. he might have went a bit over the top with it but you got to be pro and show up on time
Pro??? Pros are on time. ROCK STARS are not. It’s kind of their thing.
@@isaiahmarquez9717talk to Doc mc Ghee from Ace always late🛫
Once Ace met Justin I bet it was the mutual admiration society.
Ace back to his old shit.
Although Ace might of had it coming , Hawkins Has a BIG MOUTH only matched by his vanity. He is a legend in his own mind and ACE is just a LEGEND
I love Ace and Kiss so ill start with that. I bought the Darkness 1st 2 albums was a breath of fresh air compared to Nickleback and 3 doors down. He is a bit of a trouble maker. He goes into alot of detail on old rockers on his pod cast. Did a piece on Jon Bon jovi and Paul Stanley voice issues and was pretty fair. Hey we all get old funny thing is id still rather hear a washed up Kiss or Bon Jovi over modern rock. He is kinda funny and glad he made up with Ace. His hair is getting pretty thin so he will have to make a decision himself go Bruce Willis or do the wig thing. We dont get better with age lol.
