A deep explanation of every optimization, breakthrough runs in their entirety, grainy 20 year old footage that you've preserved of old runs and, most of all, the inclusion of all the rich history in generous detail. There is certainly room for a shorter video on these runs that some would find more palatable, but I appreciate that you truly take that deep dive for us fans that really want to immerse ourselves in the story of how these runs came to be and the players that made them possible. Your formula is perfect as far as I'm concerned. You video game speedrun historian LEGEND. brb gotta go buy a wallet.
The mass effect nostalgia gives me a funny feeling in my tummy 😥
ImBarryScottCSS back before the last game which shall not be named that killed the IP.
It makes me so incredibly happy every time I start one of your videos and am reminded that I’m an absolute legend.
Man, I can't imagine how good it must have felt to break one of those WR.
It actually gives me the chills
your humility is so refreshing. just amazing edit job in your vids as well. well done.
Speedrunners: "It's impossible".
natalya: "My Soviet superiors aren't home"
Bond: "Hold my gun"
I don't speed run, I never want to speed run, I don't watch speed runs, but I watch these videos you post and honestly enjoy them. If I had to guess why it would be the sense of passion that every video conveys. Fantastic, as always.
The thing that confuses me the most about this video is the intented time target of 5 minutes. What kind of person needs 5 minutes to walk to that plane!
Man I gotta say the "achieved this run..." moments are really exciting and get me hyped!
"[speedrunner name] achieved this run" this always gives me goosebumps
Karl: looking at the ground destroys all the fun of the game
Also Karl: throws grenades at himself to run faster
Karl Jobst: "...[FEATURED RUNNER] archived this run"
me: -ORGASM-
I love the way you give these achievements the historical dignity they deserve
14:31 Even AntVenom got Runway 22 lol
I was looking for a comment like this! I was wondering if it was the same Taylor Harris.
He also had the other Boring 4 times as world records. A fun fact is that his Archives Agent 16 was set just 2 days before the level got untied, making him the last person to get it as a tied world record.
i was just waiting for your take on this.
you should make a video discussing what makes a run "impossible", the mechanical aspects (likestrategy variations, controller input limitation and things like that) of it and TAS, i hope i made myself clear, english is not my native language.
If Karl and goose collab:
The legends of absolute: My Friends..😂
This channel is so good. I've not played GoldenEye since 1999 when I was 17, but I continue to be fascinated by these speedruns.
I'd go crazy if I had to listen to that bond gasp for 2 years
until yesterday I didn't care about ge speedruns but the tricks and your explanation are so good that now I'm hooked. also each time you said "he get this run" oh man the emotion, the suspense really amazing
damn your videos are always more informative than a 4 hour documentary on national geographic... best speedrun content creator out there
Hey Karl you absolute legend! Thanks for the great video. You telling the story of Eric's grind to get a run of 21s was really engaging and I enjoyed every minute of it. You're doing a great job. Keep it up! :D
I love this game and I wish someone would "leak" the HD remake that was about 95% complete and fully playable.
Yes right on the same level with half life 3
@@rgerber I don't get the comparison...There is a 30 minute video showing actual gameplay footage of several different single player levels (this is important because there have been a couple of reconstructions of the multiplayer levels, but never of the single player campaign). The person playing switches back and forth between the HD graphics and the original graphics. The HD remake was almost finished when they were told to cease and desist. Here's the link to the "leaked" gameplay footage.

I am so happy you returned to Goldeneye videos for this event.
Dude, I was waiting for this to happen, just knowing you'd make a video about it. What a genuine absolute legend this guy is now, I'm really happy he finally got it done and put the record to rest. Now.. how long will this go untied?
Edit: Also.. yeah, when you are the person that achieved a certain run or recordbreak that you talk about.. please mention that you're the one who did it. There are no doubt lots of people who have subbed for your speedrunning content that never followed Goldeneye closely and may just not pay any attention to the on screen text or put 2+2 together.
I love it when Karl says “In X, Y achieved this run.”. You know you’d be seeing something truly epic.
Just like a certain absolute legend, I never had a Streets 1:13 record! :-)
(Or any other record there, as I didn't play it.)
Bro your videos are off the hook I’ve literally been listening to you for 10 hours straight
16:10 Have you managed to achieve that goal? We want an update!
"Hey, where's that airplane that was at the end of the runway?"
"Oh, some guy running sideways and throwing grenades took it?"
"I was in the restroom for less than 30 seconds, though!"
This is a legendary speedrun, but it just didn't have enough doubles, body armor, or quick ones.
smbcollector Never seen a 113 either
Never seen a 22
@@wessmall7957 Actually Berg seen 598 22s :D
I'm not a speedrunner and I'll never be a speedrunner. However I love learning about games on an intrinsic level and because of that, seeing speedrunners break down a game into such minute detail is incredible. These videos are fantastically well put together!
"was beaten in 16 seconds" by himself xD
Thanks Karl, you have a real gift for getting me interested in little bits of video games i didn;t know i cared about. Keep doing what you do, legend.
