My mother brought me on numerous holidays to mosney special times ❤, sadly my mother's unwell in hospital 4 months now, I wish I could turn back the clock to happier times 😊
Really hard to put into words all of the great, happy memories I have of this place! Thankfully I don't have to 'cause you likely all feel it too! I'd love to go back to that time and place again!
To everyone asking what happened or why won't someone buy it and reopen it, the owner's sold it because it had all those little apartments to the gov't, it was made into a refugee camp. It's a place of asylum to incoming refugees, I don't think it will ever reopen because there would be way too many legal issues with making people homeless etc, I wish they had never sold it, I loved summers there :(
i'd some of the best summer holidays there over 20 years ago.would love to walk round it for nostalgia sake.glad i've watched this to see what it looks like now.nothing has changed but there are memories in every scene!
I had 3 great summer holidays there, will never forget it. I was 7 years old and fell in love with a red coat called Neive, she made my stay amazing. Often wondered where she ended up and how her life panned out. Mosney was an incredible experience. Very sad its closed as holiday destination. Think it should be revamped and modernised and I'd gladly head back for a holiday. Doubt I'd bump into Neive again as I'm now 50 years old. It's gone but won't forgotten
So many childhood memories here.... 50 years ago and I still remember bits and pieces expecially the ballroom and the chalets. Fab. Thanks for this video. I enjoyed it.
our only national holiday centre,,,,and guess what they close it down,,yep they have trabalgon,,,,but nearly every irish family has a memory of mosney,,,,,,,,sad days
My cousins took me here once when I visited from England, I have very fond memories of it still. The wave pool and the whirl pool were the best things about it :) also I remember the pub and casino well...that pub had the nicest chicken wings ever.
MEMORIES.....i just want to thank them for them,,,,maybe our kids now would benefit from a place like this ....holds very special memories for me ,,,,,thank you
This camp could be brought back into a holiday resort again since it still retains it's original features; my favourite attraction amongst the lot is the water park. I may not be able to bring back the Barry Island resort in Wales since it's now all gone, but the Mosney Holiday Centre in Ireland is still calling out to me.......
I was only 16 when Butlins closed and even I have great memories of the place. I really wish they would re-open it. Then again, would it be the same as it once was?
I run this account, through an alternate account. May have been hacked (when I do a search for Mosney Memories nothing comes up anymore). Sorry about the music for this video. Just felt right at the time when editing it. Will call back everything. Mosney for life ❤️
Ahh the memories, The only REAL!!! holiday centre in Ireland & it could'nt stay that way!! people from far & near will have fond memories of holidays here. why did it have to go? Bring back Mosney........ :(
@slantyrock Worked in the amusement park both 1999/2000 sessions never seen the place cleaner in my life than on this video.lol. i miss them summers! would love to re-live it again
Dan Lowry's, the famous Mosney Pub where almost all the big names in Irish show-business played at one time, is now a place of worship for the many different religions of the residents. Workmen are busy converting old chalets and Mosney will soon be able to cater for twice the existing number of refugees.
It was the version played on the Veronica Guerin movie. I think Joel Schumacher saw the little kid busking on Grafton Street and liked the raw sound of his voice and thought he sounded right for the tone he was trying to get across.
Yea jimmy sommers used to fuel the karts hes locked up for murder, mary Vickers who worked on the cash desk was in the world trade centre when they were attacked and Frank who used to service the karts is working in the spar balbriggan on the deli👍🏻
@@tonydoherty3536wow thats mad. Did you work there yourself? I went when I was 8 or 9 years of age around 1997 or 98 for the community games with Derry. Some memories of the place
Only in Ireland cud this happen.Biggest holiday centre in Ireland closed down to accommodate refugees.A disgrace. Now the same is happening with hotels.
Pause at 0:44, see them kitchens, when I was 14 I worked in them kitchens for a few days, it was the most disgusting place I have seen in my life. They a big piece of wood that looked like it was taken from a skip to stir the massive pot of soup, they reused and reheated dinners that had only a bit of the food eaten from them, and the work surfaces had dirt, mould and grime all over them. At the time we were serving to a few hundred o.a.p's, I felt really bad for them.
the mccloskey family own it...they also own the bread firm in drogheds they leased it to the Irish government ,,they took in 5 million punt a year when it was a holiday desination...they earned double that for housing refugees..so they have no real incentive to open it again,,,cash is king unfortunatley... i saw it today at the car show...its falling into a bad state of disrepair
Wow... I am almost in tears after watching that. Bring Mosney back!!! Why can't someone buy it and give it some TLC and make it an awesome holiday centre again?

We Want Our Mosney Back
3:08. Must have lost about a million worth of 10Ps in that poxy machine..... My horse always shot into the lead and stalled at the line LMAO
That machine was a shameless scam. On the plus side it put me off gambling on horses for life.

so sad to see mosney like that,
What has that dreadful rendition of Fields of Athenry got to do with Butlins Mosney exactly?
Why the unnecessary caterwauling during the video, horrendous..
Homelands 1999
Feel very sad looking at that ;-(
Only in Ireland cud this happen.Biggest holiday centre in Ireland closed down to accommodate refugees.A disgrace. Now the same is happening with hotels.
It looks cleaner now ha
what is this song? I love it. .so haunting..please tell me 😊
That's the new song from the Spice Girls.
Butlins
That was around 1999/2000, shortly befor eit was closed to become an asylum seeker camp, I'm sure it was cleaner years before.
@dannyboy485 One day I was there the helath inspectors arrived, you should have seen their faces, lol.
