    Creedence's music has such a joyous, bouncy vibe, but the lyrics usually have a serious message behind them. And John Fogarty has one of the all-time great rock voices.

      Yeah, they often contained social commentary, but I’ve heard him discount that in interviews later on. I think maybe he didn’t want part of his audience to turn on him. I Saw It On TV, from his Centerfield album is a master, and there’s no denying what that one’s about.

      @@BRO77TX the ones you mentioned are good, but not quite up the level of CCR. The only ones I would put in the same level as CCR are: The Beach Boys. Honorable mention: The Doors, The Eagles, The Four Seasons.
      But your list is fantastic too.

      @batmanforpresident9655 2 года назад +3

      @@Nick-ih3xg His list is certainly the second tier. Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire are without question the best ensemble bands ever. David Lee Roth's Van Halen was incredible. Kansas and Styx were not near as good. I have never been a big Aerosmith fan, but they are historic. And Steeley Dan is one of the best duos ever.

    One of the things that made CCR such a timeless band, is they were as "in tune" with the American ethos of the '70's as any band could be. So many of their songs are identified with the Vietnam War; but they also sang about growing up in America, & the whole "peace & love" movement typified by (dare I say) "hippies", "flower children", what have you. In other words, they were a voice for the people of their generation. Thank you, sir, for reacting to them, & HEARING what they were saying.

      Their songs in many ways were a product of their times--if it wasn't 3 minutes or less, you couldn't get radio airplay. At least, until FM radio came along. Billy Joel laments this specific problem in his song "The Entertainer".

    Just a bit of backstory about "CCR" is that they are a very "Southern" band with very liberal views. Most people think they originated in the South, but they actually are from Berkeley CA. The style of music can be a tad leading, or misleading if you don't actually listen. "Green River", and "Fortunate Son" I think are the best examples. "Fortunate Son" has been used probably as much as "Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen, in a misguided and, frankly, asinine way to promote ideologies that are not what these songs are even about. It is actually quite the opposite. The lyrical content of these bands is clear if you actually listen. Sorry if I rambled.

The single for "Up Around The Bend" was current at the time, and on the strength of that song, the first album I bought was "Cosmos Factory". From there, CCR became the first band I actually collected, and I had around 5-6 of their albums before I had more than two by anyone else. Finally got to see John (at least) in 2016, in Vegas.

    Just call them CCR. The song was used in commercials. In the 80’s Finnish band Hanoi Rocks did a cover that received heavy rotation on MTV. If I recall their video correctly, it depicted the song literally, which is how I took the song. Young people in a small town heading out to hang out place in a clearing that everyone knows for a good time. “Bring a song and a smile
    For the banjo”.

    One of the best bands of the 60s/70s. Would be amazing if you did a reaction of them in concert in the last year
    As in a concert they've done in the last year

    A Fogerty song that doesn't get much play that I really like is 110 in the Shade. He sings it with the Fairfield Four. Keep that music alive brother.

    See Jamel, we still love you! Over 10K views when I watched. It's just taking us a little longer to get here some days. 🙂❤

    John Fogerty’s voice is unmistakeable. Love CCR! Still have my 45.
