I swear one day I'm gonna be explaining to the police that the reason I'm breaking the speed limit is because of Billy idol- Rebel Yell or ACDC - Hghway to hell or some other song 🤣🤣🤣🤣
well.. if you remember Keifer Sutherland in "the lost boys" movie... it's really fitting the aesthetic... In fact Sutherland has declared that he straight up modelled his character's looks on Billy Idol
I’ve always loved Steve’s energy on stage, and he has an incredible ability to get sounds out of his guitar that nobody else can. I’m not sure how he did it then, but today he uses modified toy laser pistols for a lot of his effects. I think he even sells them.

Love Hot in the City too, especially the extended mixes of it. I remember seeing the 45 of it in the record store when I was a kid and thought they spelled Billy Joel wrong.
Oh, this song makes me feel like I am 18 again! The speeding tickets were inevitable and I swear the cops had a hard time not singing when they bopped up to the window!
I'm always surprised when people say they've never heard songs this popular before. Rebel Yell is probably one of the 5 most-played rock songs from the 80s. You still hear it everywhere, in stores etc, you can't avoid it.
At one time Billy was about as big as you could get, he had a set back (crashed his bike). After a long rehab he made a comeback but never got back to the top. If you liked that song you should react to Billy's song "Mony mony" (live) (official music video). It will make you wish you had been at that show!
It took me back to the best years of my life. My teenage years were a freaking blast!!! We had the best music, best friends that I'm happy to say we are all still friends. We Rebel Yelled through countless nights and days!¡!!!
Billy's guitarist, Steve Stevens, was incredible. He had his own band Atomic Playboys and they released an album in the 90s that had some good tracks. The track Atomic Playboys sounds a LOT like Rebel Yell.
Genius guitarist Steve Stevens who is the brains behind the duo really, he wrote the music behind most of Billy’s hits. He also played guitar as special guest on Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana, and he won a grammy for the theme song to Top Gun. He also pioneered the laser/ray gun sound you heard on the guitar solo.
Jamel, there's no words for how much I love "Rebel Yell"... Billy Idol... and ALL his songs! Damn Jamel! You hit my jam! The story behind this song is so cool. He was with Keith Richard's & Mick Jagger at a party & they were drinking a bottle of whiskey called Rebel Yell! I've seen interviews with the GREAT Steve Stephens, guitarist, on "Professor of Rock" tell how him & Billy wrote it. Steve used a toy ray gun from his toy collection to get those crazy fun sounds. They always leave he said like 18 (number could be wrong) bars in his music so it can be changed up by DJ's into a club mix. In this song it's the bridge where Billy goes low "I walked the world for you, babe A thousand miles for you....." Type in "Professor of Rock Rebel Yell" if you wanna watch. Just to throw this in - he did an amazing breakdown of Hotel California. Best I've ever seen. "Professor of Rock Hotel California" You nailed the meaning: one night stand & she wants more, more, more! 🤣 Next up!!! Keith and Mick were serenading the liquor like it was a girl, and Billy wrote the catchphrases they said unto a bar napkin, and thus this song was born.
