Oh my what a gorgeous DGT!
De-lydi-icious! Makes me think of McLaughlin soloing over an Indian drone.
Thanks Jeff! That was probably the most no-nonsense coverage of a mode that I've ever seen or heard!
Thank you!
great lesson, great touch and great sound ! thanks Jeff
Thank you my friend!
I love this sound too! “Instant Holdsworth”….esque too.
Great minds…
So much for the _"FREE"_ backing track.
Is that a problem with the link?
@@JeffMcErlain No, the link connects. But, "free" usually means "Something that costs nothing." To get your "free" backing track, visitors are required to enroll in the course and the lesson is locked.
@@dwaneyocum1718 There is no charge to enroll. Once you enroll you have access to all my tracks, charts, and, tabs to all my RUclips videos. So it is free.
learning from a jazz teacher in the 80s i see it as A dorian pattern 1. I guess its the way my brain thinks of it as
Thought Zappa immediately. Nice lesson.
Thanks!
Love Lydian stuff. Always reminds me of Satriani. Great stuff Jeff!
🤟🤟
Dreamy Lydian makes your major chords fly ♥️
This 4+ is sounding very Jeff Beck'y
Thanks Jeff, good lesson for a cold Saturday! Got that Joe Satriani vibe for sure!
Stay warm!!
Sounds Lydian
🤔
it is lydian.
Thank you for inspiring me to play guitar again. Jo your uber driver from cali. God bless
Hey!! Great speaking with you!
Awesome, thank you for this. You can think of F# as the 9th of the Em triad inside of Cmaj7
😉
Knowledge is Power..!💪🏼🔥. Thanks Jeff..!❤️
👊👊. Thanks Joe!
Thanks for your videos 🔥
You are welcome and thanks for being here!
Great video Jeff....I stil worry about those buttons scratching your guitar though ........
I do this for you.
Another great lesson, Jeff - thanks! Cool thumbnail too.
Thanks!!!
Jing Chi!
Love this , I’ve got one foot in the beginner level and one foot in the intermediate level, and this clears some of the fog.
Hey thank you! I’m really glad this helped!
Jeff killin it again! Very cool!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks so much Jeff, this was very helpful. I love your teaching and also your gear videos. Your pedalboard is also a true inspiration.Thx again 😊
You're welcome!!
You could phrase the F as a suspension and resolve to the third. Another way to think about it.
Fantastic lesson, Jeff!
Thanks James!
What a great video have a good weekend jeff❤😊
🙌🏻🙌🏻
I wonder if the same approach applies to other avoid notes depending on the role the chord is playing? i.e., raise the avoid note up 1/2 step to change the mode to something that works for that chord role (tonic, dominant, subdominant)?
Killer lesson Jeff. Thanks. You can get a similar feel, with the sharp 4, by playing a minor pentatonic a half step below the key, so in this example you would play b minor pentatonic over the C major 7.
😉
You have the most rediculously sexy guitars and amps it's craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy! Love it.
Ha! Thanks!
Controversial, claiming the natural 4 doesn’t work over a major 7. It has to work, it is a “Perfect” 4th!!!
lol
"The perfect fourth is a perfect interval like the unison, octave, and perfect fifth, and it is a sensory consonance. In common practice harmony, however, it is considered a stylistic dissonance in certain contexts, namely in two-voice textures and whenever it occurs "above the bass in chords with three or more notes". " ~Wikipedia
First!!!
My man!
I disagree..! But only because this is social media.. and what would it be without an argument of no relevance..?!🤣
😂
