You got some lucky kids.... and they got a great dad. My father let me have a mini bike at 10, my first 100cc dirt bike a couple yrs later, then a 250cc Ossa, 750 Honda, and it never stopped. He had no interest, but knew i'd drooled over bikes since i was old enough to prove reincarnation was real. He had no mechanical skills, but God love him he always inspired us to try...
I wouldn't say your the only person who has projects like this on RUclips but the fact that you record your progress and include your son in them is amazing, you've earned a sub my friend
very cool bike, a real beast! I love the fact it was built not bought, wish more fathers could show their sons and daughters this these days but it seems to be a dyin art.
Awesome project. You uploaded this on my birthday a year ago. It's great to see you including your son in this project. Often times the student becomes the master.
+Virtual Vapes Yes, thats true. I try to get my kid involved in my projects so that when he grows up he wouldn't be afraid to get his hands dirty. Thanks for watching.
Nice work. Around where I live the old Honda trikes don't show up on craigslist unless somebody wants a lot of money for one. Who could give this a thumbs down ? Some people are either jealous or just plain hateful.
Kevin N Those folks who give thumbs down probably hate to see a trike frame get hacked instead of restored to original condition which is totally understandable. To some people it's considered sacrilege to convert these ATC's into a bike. Anyways, glad you liked our project and thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers mate.
+Bob Duvall Yes sir, i try go get my kid involved in most of my projects. I get to spend quality time with him and he gets to learn new skills. Thanks Bob for your kind words and your support. Cheers
If i was to make a monster bike i'd use a Big red 250cc. Use the same engine/trans, shocks front and rear, some how i'd make it so it would have back brakes (if there's enough room), rear brake light. etc. but over all very nice clean build. Well done.
theoriginalmungaman Yes sir i agree with you. Trying to teach my son to be more mechanically inclined cause it will be for his own good. Appreciate your kind words and have a good one.
David Norback I'm glad you liked our project but mass producing this beast won't be appealing to enough customers to be worth my while. Besides, several companies already tried these types of bikes and didn't sell too many of them. I was fascinated with fat tire bikes for a while but couldn't find any reasonably priced so decided to make my own. Our next project will have suspension and bigger engine. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Been done a few times already ..research 85-87ish Yamah BW80 BW200 andBW350 ...then also Honda FatCat...maybe Rokon did one too? Anther company or two as wellI am pretty sure ....this is not new
richard klegin 1 hour ago why not use the second tank as backup ????????": I've tried to reply to your comment but your RUclips settings are disable maybe that's why nobody replies back to you. The original gas tank was sitting outside for too long and had a rusted out hole at the bottom. it would of took lots of effort and money to fix it. wasn't worth my time. Besides, when a fuel sits inside a gas tank, it goes bad. i would rather refill small gas tank with fresh fuel every 3 hours of use than let it sit for months in the big tank. Its just my take in this issue but i'm sure others would not agree with me.
That’s really awesome! I’m very impressed with the build ! But more than that the connection with you and your son doing projects and having fun together doing them !!!! 👍
This thing is beautiful!! I have wanted a fat cat for so long. I just have to find an atc 90 to get the front and some of the frame from..Thank you for sharing.
It really needs a rear brake. A earlier comment of using a disk on the jackshaft is a good idea. Thats how they do it on lawnmowers. Over all very informative, good video.
TheClintmeister Appreciate you comment and glad it was informative. Yes, this bike will eventually need rear brake but so far the front brake works great. if i lived in a mountainous region and rode steep hills/cliffs than both drakes is a must.
Nice project. I did a similar drive train setup on a Puma 200 trail bike and really like it. TAV works great - looks like you have the gearing about perfect and a muffler on it for quiet. Do appreciate the way you involved your son in the fabrication and riding aspects. He'll always remember that.
What a nicely done Big wheel. I bought my lady a little baja mini bike to learn on, and saw a little 3 wheeler beat up sitting at her mothers house. I imagined this build in my head, and here we are. I was hoping you came up with a simpler off-the-shelf hub for the rear end that did all the stuff I needed
B Curtis Fabricating a rear hub with disk brake would of been an ideal choice but at the time when I was working on this project I was cutting too many corners to wrap it up sooner than later. You can make your bike so much better by fabricating a swing arm and a rear hub with disk brake. Good luck, thanks for watching and commenting.
I really appreciate this video. I've never really liked three-wheelers but I've always really liked trail bikes. This is the first interesting potential project I've seen done in a while. It looked like it was a great bonding experience for the two guys. Perhaps me and my dad can get involved in a project like this. Great video guys.
Awesome, I like both but I like the headlight shroud and rear fender better on the black one, really got me wanting to build one of these. Nice job man.
Killshot 50 Cal. Glad you liked the video and thanks for your kind words. Took me like a month to get all the necessary parts and weld the frame. Sometimes you can get lucky and score cheap 3 wheeler from local listings on Craigslist.com. Best of luck and have a good day.
Very well done, looks like it came from a factory. My only suggestion would be to fabricate a chain guard between the jack shaft and rear wheel, if someone's pants leg gets tangled in the chain it could cause serious injury.
The gas tank was very rusty inside so i decided not to invest time and money into cleaning it. One gallon gas tank on the motor is enough to give us about 2 hours of play time. Thanks for commenting and checking out our video.
+Brandon Johnson Thanks Brandon. We will try to incorporate other types of engines into our future projects because predators are not the best quality and besides, other channels took the title or predator kings long time ago. Cheers
I am finally getting ready to start my 3-wheeler to monster mini-bike conversion late this month. I am a seasonal welder and have full access to my shop after work. I plan to finish it by then end of my season for my companies hunting trip. Problem is finding a good 3-wheeler in my area is rather difficult. First thing is to make it run while its still stock and then start tearing it down. I plan to hopefully fabricate full rear swing arm with tandem rear wheels and a large rack over the rear tires. Also have plans to make a track to fit over the rear tandem tires and a ski that can strap the the front for winter fun here in Alaska.
27Zangle Sounds like a plan. Hope everything works out for you and soon you’ll be riding that beast. If you can’t find one in Alaska than maybe you’ll find it in other states? Good luck with your project.
Shipping kills costs. I'll find one for the price I want to pay eventually. IF it doesn't happen in the next month it will over the winter. I will still have access to the shop when needed :-)
have to say ur the boss when comes to custom mini build seen most of your videos and hands down to all the projects you build. Its awsome to see your son involved and the skill he has to ofter to have to say keep up the great work. Im planning on building a mini quad in the next month with this 212cc to hope it comes out good.
adrian dukes Hello Adrian and thanks a million for your kind words. You are giving these hack projects too much credit. Hopefully my future projects will improve as we go along. Upload your quad project when you get done with it, would love to check it out. Cheers.
Wow! Them's are pretty amazing welding skills there mister! Love the bike, been wanting to make one myself for a long time...you've inspired me to re-think my plan...
+CplLe52irRC Glad you liked it. Some people might say that I've spent all this time and effort into this bike when i could of bought similar bike from the store. Maybe so but i wanted to build, weld, paint, and put it all together with my kid. Hopefully we will inspire more people to build something out of junk. Thank you for commenting and good luck with your project. Cheers
When your son grows up and you grow old, he will remember that you took the time to build something with him and the quality time you spent together is something that no amount of money in the world could buy. He'll remember that you didn't take the easy way out and just buy something, and the life lessons he learned will probably be handed down to his son (if he gets one, but you seem to be a pretty cool dad, so he'll probably have kids too.). +deviavenator Yes sir, i agree. My kid and i, we try to work on projects together that way i spend quality time with him and he gets to learn new skills. Who knows, maybe it will come in handy when he grows up. Thanks for your comment and support.
+majik fuzzybutt Thank you fuzzybutt for your compliment. My goal was to make a cheap bike with disposable motor to goof off in the mud. people definitely were inquiring where i bought it and liked the simplicity and functionality of it.
nice little project. looks like fun! i like it how you get your boy involved too. then he gets that feeling of pride from helping to create something and learns a lot along the way. good stuff man. cheers from australia.
Dan Strommer Hello Dan. Thanks for your comment and support. Kids these days grow up really fast so its better to get them involved in hands on projects that way they learn new skills and acquire favorite hobbies. Best regards from California.
+balabay77 I have bought some frames on ebay but shipping can be expensive. I liked your conversion. It makes finding parts easy and relatively inexpensive.
Yes sir, sometimes i search for parts on ebay as well when i need something specific. Lucky for me these 3 wheelers in my area are cheap and previous owners gladly sell them to clean out their garage. One time i was looking for front tire axle bolt but on ebay people were asking anywhere between 50 to 100 bucks. Found a whole rolling chassis for 50 bucks and still had lots of parts left over. All in all, these conversions are definitely unique and much sturdier than any cheap chinese bikes out there.
Andrew Wheeler Thanks buddy, glad you liked our little project. If you ever decide to build one, be sure to make it with full suspension. Our bike was a nut cracker and a very rough ride. Good luck.
those are dope, nice job... I've got a Baja Doodle Bug with a Predator 212 and TAV, and I've got some old who-knows-what I picked up for $200 that looks sorta like your bikes -- fat tires, big beefy frame, real handlebars... mine's got a springer front fork and wide springer seat, ratty B&S 5.5 (for now) and sticky clutch lol... fired up first pull though, Craigslist mystery toy FTW!!! keep up the cool shtuff guys!!!
Blank Slate This setup was perfect for a teen/kid sized person but with a swap of rear sprocket this thing can probably do some climbing. For the size of the frame and tires it was underpowered. Ideally you would want a bigger engine if you are planning on climbing steep hills. Good luck.
Glad you like them. Not everyone shares your point of view. In my neck of the woods they are cheap and readily available so I'm not sure what the big stink is all about when people say that i shouldn't be cutting them up. Anyways, thank you for checking out my videos. Cheers
Geonious I had no idea that my videos would get so many views. Appreciate your support. In my city these trikes are cheap but need lots of work to get them running. Tomorrow i'm going to pick up another rolling chassis for $50 bucks. I don't understand why people get bent out of shape when they see modified or hacked up trike. Most of the ones I've worked on were pile of junk anyways. I'm basically giving them another shot at life. Cheers
Harold Rogers II Hello Harold. Thanks for your support and glad you liked it. My kid enjoys riding them more than making them but maybe some day his creative side will take over. Cheers
Very impressed in your skills and time you put into this converted into a hotrod bike loving it bro i have an old mini bike that needs this kinda of work and touching up done to it but i dont even know where to start pretty much everything needs to be replaced
+MARCO ANTONIO Thanks Marco but you are giving me a lot of credit here. This was my second welding project and there is always room for improvement. Cheers
Jorge Figueroa Thanks for watching and commenting. These types of projects are a great way to bond with your kids as well as creative memories that will last a lifetime. When you finish your project with your son, upload it. We would love to check it out. Cheers mate.
You could always install a small mechanical disk brake on the rear jack shaft for a rear brake. You really do a very good job at these. It would be cool if you could figure out a way to use the 3 wheeler motor and all.
I was thinking about installing rear brake but so far the front drum brake works great and does an awesome job. I've recently purchased a running 3 wheeler (200s) for $175 bucks. Kinda on the fence about keeping it as is or converting it to a two wheeler. Three wheeler lovers would definitely have something to say about that. Still undecided.
+Lawnboy From Hell Thank you sir for kind words. Nowadays, kids are lazy couch potatoes and its getting harder to get them to do anything. I hope my kid wouldn't be afraid to get his hands dirty when he grows up.
very cool video. you basically made one of those sweet big tire mini bikes. a bonus too...you probably spent less money on this project than buying a big tire mini bike used!!
+Devin Perry Yes sir, the entire build was cheap. This bike came out to roughly $350. From getting all the parts to welding and painting the frame it took me about a month to make this bike. Bought rolling chassis for $50 and sold rear rack for $50 as well as rear axle for $50 which lowered/offset the cost of the bike. Motor was $100 bucks and 30 series torque converter was $85 on eBay, handle grips $17, paint and primer around $30, rear sprocket $20, seat $25, jackshaft $65 and tires for free from my other parted out 3 wheeler. As far as tubing goes, I got it at Home Depot 1/2 inch pipe (needed just one $12). it might not be the prettiest bike on the block but it sure is a monstrosity that gets heads turning.
Tap the bottom gas tanks gas cap and have a fuel line go from the top tank to the bottom tank cap can extend your range what I would do just a option great vid btw
+B- rad. Thanks for the tip. Actually, the top tank got a rusty hole in it at the bottom due to age of the gas tank. Its only there for looks. Repair was not worth the hassle so thats why i only use bottom tank. Besides, i prefer to refill my gas tank more frequently with fresh gas instead of letting it sit for a while and go bad. Cheers
thats bad ass. just curious. can the pull starter mount be rotated around to pull straight up instead of forward so you can start it while on the bike?
No matter how long the bike lasts, the memories your son will have will last a lifetime : ) It was good to see, thank you.
So true!

good to see a young man learning steel fab skills and building bikes.,

+rick mart Isn't the Big Red 250 a shaft drive? think that would make things hard.
+Robert P Yes...the 1985/86 Big Red 250 is shaft drive.
Sorry, i meant the 200E Big Red. they were still chain drive.

Хорошо. Благодарю за совет и за просмотр нашего ролика. 😀👍
This is better than a 3 wheeler. Somebody needs to sell these in a rolling chassis.
I wish I had that

Indubitably. Too bad that nobody sells old used frames anymore that's why had to make/modify a junker. Cheers
Dude, that bike is a marvel! Hats off to you. I would love to build one.
Andrew Wheeler
Thanks buddy, glad you liked our little project.
+Eric Larreau
Yes sir, sometimes you can find good deals on craigslist.
Thank you Eric for checking out our video and appreciate your support .
Excellence at its best! Thumbs way up!
Very nicely built machine.
Great build , lacks suspension. You can compensate by running very low pressure in those big tires! Excellent memories with your son.
nice work Sir, whats your take on the hill climbing power as you have it set up? I'm thinking of building one for packing and climbing. thanks -
Blank Slate
This setup was perfect for a teen/kid sized person but with a swap of rear sprocket this thing can probably do some climbing. For the size of the frame and tires it was underpowered. Ideally you would want a bigger engine if you are planning on climbing steep hills. Good luck.
Nice work! I see Mamma enjoyed too!
Indeed she did. Cheers mate
These bikes your building are awesome.
Glad you like them. Not everyone shares your point of view. In my neck of the woods they are cheap and readily available so I'm not sure what the big stink is all about when people say that i shouldn't be cutting them up. Anyways, thank you for checking out my videos. Cheers
I usually cringe at the thought of cutting up a three wheeler. But I must say those were two great builds!
Cheers
the black one... very nice!
Thanks buddy. Glad you liked it. Cheers mate
That beast is sick AF! Very nice! Love it!
Those things look fun to ride
Nice job!! Bet you and your son had a great time on the project.
Harold Rogers II Hello Harold. Thanks for your support and glad you liked it. My kid enjoys riding them more than making them but maybe some day his creative side will take over. Cheers
Great job. Nice project.

Thank you sir, appreciate your support.
Very impressed in your skills and time you put into this converted into a hotrod bike loving it bro i have an old mini bike that needs this kinda of work and touching up done to it but i dont even know where to start pretty much everything needs to be replaced
Take it apart and work on each part individually. You'll be done before you know it. Thanks for commenting and watching our video. Cheers
sir you have crazy skills well done
+MARCO ANTONIO
Thanks Marco but you are giving me a lot of credit here. This was my second welding project and there is always room for improvement. Cheers
Wow beautiful looking bike great job.
Great job man...I will do this with my son..!!!
Thank you..!!!
Jorge Figueroa
Thanks for watching and commenting. These types of projects are a great way to bond with your kids as well as creative memories that will last a lifetime.
When you finish your project with your son, upload it. We would love to check it out. Cheers mate.
Nice build !!!!!!!
they make it look so simple to build those big tire motor, huh. Awesome!
+shane gal
Thank you Shane for checking out our video. two thumb up.
Nice looking bike!
175 bucks is a steal no matter what you do with it. Good luck and thanks for the cool vids.
Sure thing buddy, it's my pleasure. Appreciate your input and thanks for checking out my clip.
impressive! nice video and well put together.
+ross koeman
Thank you Ross for your support and kind words. I've utilized some junk parts and it came out OK. Cheers.
Sweet bike man! That thing is cool!
Top job mate and got to do it with your son Sweet
Awesome job dude, your kids going to grow up with some skills.
+Lawnboy From Hell
Thank you sir for kind words. Nowadays, kids are lazy couch potatoes and its getting harder to get them to do anything. I hope my kid wouldn't be afraid to get his hands dirty when he grows up.
+balabay77 Sure glad there's still a few parents out there like you, otherwise we are doomed! I see a lot of helpless people out there!
Архангельск приветствует! Cool !!!
Константин Доставалов
Спасибо тебе Костя за просмотр нашего ролика и очень приятно что тебе понравился наш драндулет.
very cool video. you basically made one of those sweet big tire mini bikes. a bonus too...you probably spent less money on this project than buying a big tire mini bike used!!
+Devin Perry
Yes sir, the entire build was cheap.
+balabay77 Awesome! It was sure worth the work and the money!
Some people go to vocational classes to learn how to weld but i decided to learn on my own by welding these junk bikes out of scrap metal.
Nice bike. We did the same thing.
That turned out really good. Very cool
If you rotate the starter cover around you can have the starter cord come out at the rear so you can start it easily while sitting on it.
That's actually a great idea. Starting the motor while sitting down is easier. Cheers.
Where did you get the kickstand from? And could you do a video on how you did the rear axle. Thanks, Colton
Cheers
ah ok still a nice build though man did a great job on it
Looks very stable great job on the build.
Thank you sir. Cheers.
В первом видео катушку поставил маленькую ,а сейчас побольше
Дела идут в гору !!!
Андрей Алехин
Ага. Теперь можно сваривать всякую фигню :)
That is incredibly cool but for me it is kinda better if there is a shock infront
thats bad ass. just curious. can the pull starter mount be rotated around to pull straight up instead of forward so you can start it while on the bike?
