The Atheist Community of Austin is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas. The Atheist Community of Austin is dedicated to promoting atheism, critical thinking, secular humanism, and the separation of religion and government.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Before you claim something can't exist without a god, you have to demonstrate that a god exists
Before you claim life can come into existence without life without an intelligence source you have to demonstrate that a life can pop into existence because of a non intelligent occurrence.
That's obviously false. For example, don't need to prove intelligent life exists elsewhere beyond Earth, in order for intelligent life to be necessary for spaceships from other planets.
I don't need to prove North Korea had a hypersonic missile to know a hypersonic missile is necessary explain their missile traveling at hypersonic speed.
I don't need to prove 8 tomato seeds existed before those seed can be necessary to explain eight tomato plants.
I don't need to prove atoms exist, in order for atoms to be necessary to explain the effects of atomic outcomes.
Your idiotic claim would negate most scientific findings, such as sub-atomic particles that must exist due to their known effects

That's a common misconception. There are enough places on earth, where religion didn't prevent people from doing research or practicing "science", but yet, none of these cultures are higher developed than the "west" after the enlightment period.

Yes, the Enlightenment played a big role in the rise of science, but that only goes back to the 17th to 19th centuries. For almost two millenia, the catholic church fought against science and murdered scientists for herecy in the worst ways, last was Giordano Bruno.

They failed there. the Santa Claus myth story has to go further. He only appears to some people (they started on that path but got sidetracked). The stories you have of him going everywhere are post-revelation myths (heresies). The true Santa has very few true followers who receive his gifts. What you have hears is a string of lies meant to fool the world into not accepting the true Santa. He is infinite. He is invisible, etc.
With enough dumb assertions, you can get to any claim that cannot be falsified, eg the invisible dragon that lives in my closet.
It's the presup dodge and if the conversation had continued I'm willing to bet that he would've asserted that it is a category error to compare santa and the Christian god.

I think the theist argument is that science has been wrong in the past so how can we be sure it is correct now?
The answer: Science doesn’t provide 100% certainties.
In science, we work to build models. It might be a mathematical model, a law, a descriptive observation.
And if a model works, we say that it is a good model and we continue to use it.
For example, what is classical physics (Newtonian physics) is a good model and it is still taught at high school and is used in industry.
It is one of the rules in science. If the model works, we can use it, even if a better model has been invented. Nothing wrong with using approximations.
If you need certainties in life, then science is not for you. Go to the door labeled “religion”, “guaranteed happiness”, “meet all your pets and past family members”.

I remember this guy. He attempted this same circular nonsense with other hosts previously to this call, and they promptly ended the call. It's puzzling why he persisted in calling with the exact same argument, given the clear lack of reception it received in the past.

1 atheist wouldn't define atheism the other one define it as an absence of belief which just means the same thing as a lack of belief. Atheism is a disbelief which means it's an unwillingness or inability to accept God is true.
But if you want to go with lack of belief it just means I'm willing to accept it and absence of belief means the same thing unwilling to accept.

The presup argument is interesting in that it fails two ways at the same time: it's circular (it starts with its conclusion) and you could use it equally well with any other entity ( Lomo the Sky God is the precondition of knowledge; knowledge is possible; therefore, Lomo the Sky God exists).

Inductive reason is not something people follow slavishly. Almost everybody implicitly understands, with differing degrees of probability according to case, that past regularities might not be repeated in the future: that's why we don't believe remissions from cancer are miracles or that traffic free roads when it's Monday rush hour (during a pandemic) are likewise miracles.
