Hey Neil, I’m 70 years old now and I do remember watching Carl Sagan every single episode on PBS was on the edge of my seat and had never even remotely considered anything as well as everything he was all about Lisa that you had on today has that same love in her voice and intellect as Carl Sagan did.I hope she goes far and I hope you have her on again. What a beautiful example of a pioneering attitude and a love for life to make the world a better place thank you again for sharing your life with us through the sciences.
Hi, Charles. Carl Sagan was such an inspiration for future generations of engineers, scientists, and, of course, astrophysicists. In particular, he mentored a young high school student who showed interest and enthusiasm for astrophysics. 😊 His novel and movie Contact was one of the most intelligent depictions of an sentient life form more advanced and very different from humans.
I’m convinced that no subject in school was inherently boring, it was the subject’s teacher and their lack of passion and dedication to it. If this man was everyone’s high school science teacher, we would have a civilization on Mars with hovercrafts on it by now 😂
May be if we pay teachers liveable incomes, they will be more passionate
Yeah this is why my History teacher in 8th grade I'll always remember Mr.Roach! Guy has passion and enjoyed teacher. Made it fun to learn also.

I'm from Argentina and in my country school teacher is probably the easiest job to get, so a lot of people is one just to survive

Lisa Kaltenegger is so animated as she speaks that it's fascinating to watch her and listen. Loved this podcast for the information as well as just listening to the enthusiasm and excitement. It's what makes Dr. Tyson so popular--he's animated and his passion shows whenever he speaks on any subject but particularly in explaining mode.
Makes me feel like a little boy with my face in the cup of my hands kicking my feet back in forth imagining everything they are saying
She talks with such passion, you can see she really enjoys her job and can't never get enough
Now no StarTalk is complete without the Mr. Rogers heart-to-heart at the end. Thanks, Dr. Tyson for bringing the nostalgia.
Kaltenegger is one of the most interesting guests I've seen on this show. I hope she comes back, or makes her own channel.
Two excellent science communicators, who are also admirers of the great Carl Sagan make an excellent 50 minutes on RUclips.
Neill's voice is a great asset when it comes to storytelling, But Ms. Kalteggers matches just the same bar. Both should be hired by audible or made the machines avatar.

I read Lisa’s book a couple of months ago. It’s understandable to a layman and very entertaining. It’s one of those books that left me wanting to read more about the subject.
Startalk is always great, but this episode was another level of fun and informative. Thank you, Neil, for what you do! And thank you for bringing Mrs. Kaltenegger on the show - she is so dynamic, bright, sharp, witty and passionate about everything she does and learns. More of her in the public sphere would be good for everyone.
Wonderful. She reminds me of Sagan's awe and excitement for astrophysics.

I also look forward to positing the idea to Dino crazy seven-year-olds, the idea of PLANETS with dinosaurs and why they should get into the field of exobiology!

Fantastic questions. Fantastic guests. She was so engaging, is clearly in love with this stuff, and you can see the passion in her eyes. She lights up about these topics, and it's really enjoyable to see.
The three of you were a pleasure to watch. I'm captivated by these topics myself, and I wish I had pursued advanced physics further while in college. I'm sure my grandfather, who was a physicist at the Pentagon, would have been proud if I had. Maybe I need to go back to school though!

That's a shame, usually parents can be expected to support going into a science career. Neil deGrasse Tyson does like to discuss what we know about the universe, but about God/spirituality he generally will say that he doesn't see sufficient evidence and his discussions on the topic tend to disappoint those interested investigating them.
When he asked Steve-O what questions Steve-O had for him, Steve-O was interested in asking questions about life after death, but he seemed disappointed in Neil's answers. It's about 40 minutes into the following interview:

If I were an astrophysicist, and I worked at the same institution as one of the most famous fellow astrophysicists in the last century, and then I got their old office…I’d never retire or leave that office till my death! Imagining sitting at my desk, looking around the space that such a brilliant and impactful individual once followed their passion is overwhelming!

Lisa is pretty awesome! She has an almost tamed childlike wonder and enthusiasm just when she speaks! I wonder what it is like being in the lab with her!
I noticed she has a very occasional pronunciation difference. So I looked at her entry on Wikipedia. It says she is Austrian, which are very often excellent English speakers. Fortunately she was not "tainted" by British English.

There is a doc about life starting in two phases, as if it was partially made in two or more "not life yet" structure, than they suffered some different chemical reactions and when they "mixed" up they were able to step ahead to life.

Go read a book instead. That's what you're looking for. While you're at it read a few books on how to act assimilate with humans.
I don't know what planet you came from but on Terra we don't socialize based on roles and expectations. We like diversity and fun when we socialize. We use roles and rules and stern seriousness for specialty forums and debates.

That view is ancient. The scientists that would leave the labs to carry out the very important task of science communication to a modern distracted public that is distracted with so many media consuming options, MUST be cool, funny, and interesting as a first order prerequisite.
