    Another first rate video from Chris. Well structured, thoughtful (with some fresh and under appreciated track day insights / tips). A polished, fluid but unpretentious presentation, and a welcome addition to the very few track day newbie vids on YT that are genuinely useful and not just superficial, fast and loose. Looking forward to the next in this series, and to more excellent content from Chris and John, who are always top draw.

    What is this facination with a TFT dashes these days?? What's wrong with a needle tach? I cannot stand the TFT dashes on most modern bikes, at least for the fact that you gotta study each one of them before it becomes readable at a glance. It's a flat interface.

    • @fightingcarrot
      @fightingcarrot 5 лет назад +2

      There are way more electronics now - launch control, wheelie control, custom modes, traction control, etc etc...tft dash has all of that clearly laid out. Also it looks nice :/ I like having it on my Aprilia.

      Are you under the impression that the information you are referring to can be displayed only on a full TFT panel?
      I am not against the color display, I am against the minimalist device that is cheaper to produce but expensive to purchase because of the market hype, all while less usable at speed.
      If you have any doubts about the latter, read about the way visual cortex works and also watch "Calculating a Car Crash" by Numberphile. There is a great explanation of the benefits of a squared scale for a speedometer.

    Awesome video! I mostly came here for the bike review, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the insight on what tracks days are like. I ride a '17 ZX-6R, the only thing I envy about the new gen is the quickshifter. Aside from that I love how my little green beast looks and rides.

      Besides the QS and Optics, there is no difference with the motor, right? Some say, the 19' is quicker coming from lower reps 🤔

    • @636theofthebeast8
      @636theofthebeast8 5 лет назад

      @@paddyr.3721 That's because the rear sprocket has one more tooth. That increases wheel torque at any given rpm and gear compared to the previous gen, but slightly decreases top speed (since at any given gear and rpm combination, your speed will be slightly lower).

      @paddyr.3721 5 лет назад

      @@636theofthebeast8 Hey man, thanks for your Comment. So that means, if i reduce 1 Tooth in my Sprocket, i will get de same Torque and Performance with my 17', as the new 19'?

      @@636theofthebeast8 In fact It is one tooth less on the front sprocket. Yours is 16/43 and 2019 is 15/43

    • @636theofthebeast8
      @636theofthebeast8 5 лет назад +2

      @@paddyr.3721 Yes, although as Cyber pointed out, it's one tooth less on the front sprocket, which has much less teeth than the rear so you would have to go with a rear sprocket that has 2-3 extra teeth to get the same effect. But basically yes, decreasing the number of teeth on front sprocket or increasing it on the rear gives you more wheel torque, so acceleration will be higher at any speed / gear combo compared to the previous gen. The downside is that the max speed in each gear will be lower, and higher revs at any speed probably means lower gas mileage. Hope this helps!

      In Europe in UK and in France you have a lot of tracks that impose sound limits of 99dB or even 95dB in static, and that you have to have dB killer as well. Only big GP or WSBK circuits have FIM standard 102 or 103dB. However, Spain is El Dorado, no restrictions. :)

    What is the best stock 600 for track day ? I have never ridden on a track. but yesterday I test rode the Yamaha R6 and I was blown away by the high end pull on that bike. I really fell in love with it. but I would never by it for my daily rider because of the riding position, I am to old for leaning over, I hadn't ridden a sport bike since my old 900 Ninja that I bought in 1984, so I was blown away by how fast a 600 is in 2020. so much faster than the 600cc sport bikes from the 80's. so now I have been thinking about buying a bike just for the track. so I am wondering how other 600cc bikes compare to the Yamaha for the track. one thing I always loved about my Kawasaki was it's stability. and I had a test ride on the MT09. and I didn't like how the front wheel never feels planted. but the little R6 felt pretty stable, but I was only able to test it in a strait line. no turns. so I don't know how it holds a line in a turn, or how it feels flipping back and forth. so does Bike World or anyone in the comments have any opinions or advice comparing the 600cc options. thanks ( I am also curious ) how long do tires last on a track ?

    • @BikeWorldTVshow
      @BikeWorldTVshow  3 года назад

      Hey, any of the 600’s work well as track bikes. If it’s just for track then go for a bike already prepared, you’ll save a bunch of cash. Take a look at a Triumph 765, great track bike.
