I always thought something was missing when I first watched it on DVD, also for the sound effect at 1:04 the subtitles on the DVD acknowledge it as [Creaking] despite the sound being missing.
I personally prefer the film without those added synth effects, which were not a part of Howard Shore’s magnificent score, and actually detract from it a bit. That said, I’m glad that the Shout! disc includes both versions. I’ve never gotten a firm answer as to whether the theatrical release of the film always had those synth effects (although they were certainly there on VHS, TV airings, etc.). I assume that there weren’t theatrical variations of the mix, since it appears that the film was just released in 35mm stereo.
It's good to know and have a comparison, but this isn't one I'll lose sleep over, personally. I never noticed a difference before and might prefer the synth absent. Fun fact: Turn it up loud and you can hear the synth at 1:00:33 on the Cronenberg commentary track even though the 2.0 mix is missing from the DVD and Blu-ray.
Will you do an audio comparison between the original mono mix and 5.1 remixes that have been released since 1996 of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?
@@raccoonwarriorprincess1024 there was one difference in the original mono mix the 5.1 remixes have missed out on over the years. It’s when Charlie and Grandpa Joe end their “I’ve got a Golden Ticket” song, Charlie’s mom now said “Wait. Stop.” The “Wait” word was omitted on any 5.1 remix released from 1996 and onwards.
But glad to know that Shout! tried to fix the 5.1 Even if It was halfway and the original 2.0 is included. Now I want to see if there was anything on Fly 2 (1989).
@@mikedbz8530 no you misunderstand, I said halfway fixed because of the 2.0 track's inclusion the 5.1 track is still the same and misses these extra cues unfortunately

Yea they clearly were there in the original release, the fact that the 5.1 remix excluded them is a legitimate error
I wonder if theres a release of the movie other than the shout factory release that has those synth sounds
I heard the original Stereo mix when they showed *"THE FLY"* on AMC.

I don't have a reason to as that one doesn't have sound effects changes afaik

@@jordanmillraney5481 I knew about that, I was just regarding sound effects
Okay. No altered sound effects but music cues should have been fixed on the blu-rays. What, was Chase not available that day?
It was halfway fixed on the Shout! Factory release, the 2.0 track has all of the missing audio restored
Okay the Chase joke was for the fact that Chase digital sound likes mix 5.1 close to the original source as possible.

@@raccoonwarriorprincess1024My bad then You know what It might have been music elements at the time of the 5.1's mixing
