I didn’t even know there were two different versions until a few years ago. Happened to see Scream playing on Fox (May MyTV) and was surprised to see how much the tv version was butchered. But it kind of got me wanting to rewatch the movie again, and as it so happened Netflix had it at the time, so I started watching it. So I’m watching Scream on Netflix, first time I’ve watched the movie since I watched it on VHS when it came out in the ‘90s, but this R rated version I’m watching on Netflix is more like the horrible butcher television edit than the version of the movie I remember watch in the ‘90s. What must have happened is my small town local movie rental place had the unrated version of Scream, so the only version of it I ever saw until like 24 or 25 years later was the better unrated version. Watching the R rated version makes me wonder why so many people even think so highly of Scream Funnily, right around this same time I see Simon Barret talking about how there’s two different versions of the movie. I can’t remember if I found out about the two different versions on my own before that, or if I just happened to go on Twitter and see Barret talking about how he just found out there were two versions of Scream around the same time I did.
