Maybe there can be another category of expats who are the vloggers. They came to the Philippines because the Philippines is a vlogger friendly country. They can shoot videos of the people without the people getting mad at them. It's also an added bonus that Filipinos watch any video that is related to the Philippines. Their main purpose of coming to the Philippines is basically to vlog anything about the Philippines.

Good video. Obviously, good guys and bad guys are actually a subset of every category…everywhere. Retirees, early retirees, and semi-retired are all attracted to the PH but kinda different at the same time. A big one IMO is retired military, deserving of its own category because of their numbers, different needs and accommodations/priorities, and the priority the PH government itself puts on accommodating prior and retired military. Food for thought.

    Philippines:
    "Poor Man's Hawaii"
Solidly a SE Asian styled culture, with a good helping of centuries of Spanish Colonialism infused.
A good sprinkle of American influence, along with toursim, investment and such from Japan, S. Korea, and Mainlander China (With HK and Taiwan too I guess).
A good sprinkle of "pacific islander", aka Polynesia.
A bit of sprinkle from Aussieland, due to proximity.

What about the adventure seekers, the outdoorsy type eg scuba diving as the Philippines is one of the worlds top countries for that.

I wonder how you would classify me? I have travelled widely and I have worked all around the world. I came to the Philippines because my Filipina wife, whom I met in HK, wanted to come home. We had a child together in HK. We lived together in HK for 3 years before selling up. We own property. We have a business in the Philippines. We have a decent income. I just have an easy life. I don't need to work because we have a decent passive income.

I notice that all of your categories are guys.
There is an increasing number of women that fit into certain categories, travellers, eco tourists and digital nomads who are freelancing for foreign companies with no connection to the Philippines, doing digital marketing, design and social media management.
Two groups that are very similar, the sexpats and bad guys are separated only by the number of wrinkles they have.
And as the recent Dramaguete sage has shown, even the retirees are not immune to being gladiatorial grandfathers.
And of course there are the guys that have been married to a Filipina for decades and both retire as a couple to her original country after a life working and raising their children overseas.

@raymonde4272 I certainly didn't give an exhaustive list. i'm seeing more female expats here than previously, but still quite rare.

You are a very good vlogger and you have some really down to earth and interesting content.
To me you have just one let down.
The way you elevate the last word in each and every sentence I find it off-putting. You are the only vlogger that has this trait.
Please don't take this as hate. You are definitely one of the best vloggers here in the philippines.
If not for that one tiny thing that I can't seem to get past....... I would pay homage to your channel because of the content you provide.
Kindest regards from agusan del sur
