Yo this is AWESOME!!! 😎😎 I was looking for Save Yourself because I've always loved it and I didn't even know Stabbing Westward were still at it and had a new album coming!! This song rocks!!! 🤘🤘 I'm so glad I found it!!!
They actually broke up in 2002, reunited in 2016 and now they put out this album this year. This is great stuff. Would love to see these guys tour with Static-X.
Man, Darkest Days was the soundtrack for my entire wretched 20s, and I gave up on ever hearing anything from Stabbing Westward again. Then less than two weeks ago I discover that not only are they back together, they've put out one hell of a magnificent album. No joke, I had tears when I finished listening to Chasing Ghosts the first time. It really is like an old friend you never thought you'd see again suddenly showing up at your door. I'm so happy they're back, hopefully I can finally see them play live.
The whole album “Chasing Ghosts” is a epic return to the beautiful melancholy industrial genius that is Stabbing Westward. I am so glad to hear this viciously haunting masterpiece. I only hope this gets the tour it deserves. Well F’ing done.
You shittin' me? These guys and Static-X need to tour together. It's surreal seeing the 90's Era industrial metal making a comeback with both bands reuniting and sounding better than ever (RIP Wayne, you are missed, but Xer0 is doing an amazing job in your stead), seriously, they should go on tour together.
It is surprising how good it is. So many artists fail to refind their sound. SW did it. I was expecting another The Dreaming album but this actually sounds like SW. Pleasantly surprised.
@@apeekintime No matter the age the feelings are still there. Relationships can suck, anger and despair linger at any age. Do you think when we hit 50 we suddenly get happy?
"Wither Blister Burn and Peel" and "Darkest Days" were the soundtrack of my early twenties. "Waking up beside you" remains one of my favourite songs to play on a sad day. It's awesome to see "Stabbing Westward" again.
God damn... you guys came back TEN FOLD!!! Liking that fact that the keyboard player is back.... he left and A HUGE SOUND LEFT... AND NOW YOUR BACK BOYS!!!!
This is the BEST gift I've ever been given. This new album is EPIC!!! Thank you, Chris, Walter, Carlton, and Bobby for this masterpiece. And THANK YOU to COP for believing in SW and giving us fans such a transcendent album.
I've been a Aussie fan of Stabbing Westward since the age of 18 (1999) when a metal loving male friend I had a crush on (who also had just endured a nasty break-up just weeks before we became friends) got me into Darkest Days. We used to listen to it in his room late at night, in the dark, lights out, and he'd be pining over his lost love with every song. It was an emotional experience, which is funny in itself, given I've always been a mostly dance music fan - this music style was at the opposite end of the scale for me. Alas, I fell in love with Chris Hall's voice and the raw emotions in every song. I bought their older albums and listened to them on repeat. Learnt every lyric to Darkest Days. Loved it when their 2001 album came out a couple of years later, I was working in a music store at the time and pounced on it as soon as it was released. Contrary to what everyone thought of this one, I still loved it. 23 years later, I'm now 42 years old, married with teenage kids, and Stabbing Westward have finally resurfaced. I've fallen in love with this band all over again, Chasing Ghosts is currently being played daily on repeat. I'm also listening and obsessing over Darkest Days again, singing every verse and lyric I memorised decades ago, have not skipped a beat there. Since my teen years, Stabbing Westward have always held a fond place in my heart, and always will. My secret guilty pleasure! Thank you for becoming a part of my life again ❤
MY LIFE'S BEEN WASTEDDDD vibes during the chorus. I wish I was in Texas to see them this year! As far as huge sounds, dramatic melodies, powerful vocals and the best synth and dark electronic pads in all of music, 100% certified fact! Chris' voice sounds better than ever too, which is kinda crazy to think!
I can’t believe how well his voice has held up - much better than his contemporaries. This sounds like it could have been a lost b-side recorded 25 years ago. Love it.
I agree! It's my favorite one by them and I've been there with them since the day I picked up Ungod. I was only 10 and they started my musical obsession lol
One of my favorite bands growing up. Chris then went to form The Dreaming, now SW is back! I am hoping to get this on vinyl. I always recommend SW to people, always great to listen to.
Like many I got into them when I heard "Shame" and "What Do I Have To Do?" - Them and Filter were really the only "industrial" bands I got into from that era, they both still rock!
These guys got me thru some rough moments back in the day. I got to see them in '98 when Darkest Days came out and they blew me away. Saw them again in 2019 for the Darkest Days anniversary tour. After the show Chris walked the crowd and I got a few pics with him. Down to earth kinda guy. I told him he got me thru my own darkest days and I thanked him for it. He said "That's why we do it. To help and to heal." He gave me a "bro hug" and said he was gonna keep doing it. What a cool guy! Now they're back!!! I can't wait for the new album, and I hope they go on tour and come to Atlanta!!!
Been listening to Stabbing Westward since 1994, Darkest Days released in 98 got me through some tough times. This girl I loved in high school started dating some jerk. Her and I used to hang out all the time, we did everything together. I was head over heals for her, but she just wanted to be friends “though she wrote me letters all the time claiming she loves me” After she started dating him, she blew me off. Three years of being around her daily was over in an instant. She had a birthday party and invited all her friends, me and my close friend went but I was depressed because her bf was there. He was into drugs, got her to do some and he raped her. When I found out, I and my friend beat the crap outa the guy. She was so angry at me for it, she never talked to me again… Darkest Days got me through it with songs like, “haunting me, Sometimes it hurts, You complete me, and desperate now” I listened to that album all the time on my Sony Discman. I am so happy they are coming back and a new album soon! I heard this song, Ghost a few days ago and man it brought back memories. I always liked Stabbing Westward over bands like NIN or Orgy, just better music that I can relate with. Stabbing Westward, you guys kick ass! I’m 43 now and still listen to all your albums. And by the way, my story has a happy ending. In 1999 I met a Japanese girl, we got married in 2001 and I now live in Japan 🇯🇵
Good on you man. SW kept me from committing suicide back in the early 2000s. I was in the military and i came home from a deployment in the middle east and found out my wife (at the time) had hooked up with some other guy. I spent almost every single night listening to Darkest Days trying not to kill myself (i never went through it because we had two young kids at the time.) .... Fast forward to today, im living in Texas and retired after a 23 year career, happily divorced and engaged to a great girl. I cannot wait for this new album.
@@bigsarge8795 good thing you didn’t commit suicide, no girl is worth taking your own life. And in the end, you were rewarded with a new girl to be happy with!
As someone who lived about an hour from Macomb, IL where the band was formed, I always appreciated them as a "local band". But forget my local bias, this is a legit banger. Welcome back, Stabbing Westward!
FINALLY!..... We are back to the beautiful music of "Darkest Days"! SW reaches my soul now as much as they di when I was going through my divorce in 1999.
This song is a banger! My favorite on the new album! This simple synth-melody stuck in my ears for weeks now… great song!
