F-Series at Ford is "The Franchise". There was once upon a time when the F-Series alone brought in $3B revenue in a year that Ford overall earned $2B. (Do the math there.). I work on Mustang (S650), but it's the F150 that keeps the lights on to allow me to work on Mustangs.
Amen to that brother. I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 141,000 miles on it and still going strong and it's a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK Catback exhaust on it.
I have a eco boost in mine and it has 300000 thousand miles on it. It’s amazing how well a engine will last when you use good oil snd changing the oil when it needs to be changed. I just bought a 2020 f 250 with the 7.3 in it and I love that truck and engine.
I would also ALWAYS put in an aftermarket performance radiator (i.e. a Mishimoto), an extra oil cooling and transmission fluid cooling system AND a larger more rugged oil filter AND a replace the current hood with a carbon fibre forced ram-air hood which has the big air scoops which will suck in cool air and force the hot air out from the engine bay much faster than normal (it also makes the truck more muscular and rugged-looking!) Then I always put in 5W40 all-Synthetic engine oil and run -40F Winter-rated coolant fluid and change them BOTH OUT after 3000 miles (5000 km) or 3 months (whichever comes first!). Every 40,000 miles (60,000 km) you then do a full engine flush to get rid any build-up of carbon deposits and oil sludge. Doing that type of maintenance religiously lets you enjoy your truck for 10 years and more with no issues! I know people who have gotten 750,000 miles+ on their F150 and Superduty trucks simply by doing proper fluid changes/maintenance/tune-up on an every 3000 miles or every 3 month schedule! v
Good choice on the V8, Scotty! That's a GREAT engine and will last years if you maintain it properly. I'm with you on Toyota canceling the big V8. I was going to sell my 2008 Tundra CM 4x4 with only 24,000 miles for a new one but when they killed the V8 they killed my enthusiasm. I'll just keep my '08 for another 400k miles! Good luck with your new F150, Brother!
I know it's a v8 but which engine is the best that'll last and reliable as the toyota? 4.6 or 5.8 or 5.0 engine? From 1st, and second and third place. Thank you.
@@invaderzim1265: Thank you. I started buying Toyotas 22 years ago and I never looked back. However, I have an admission to make... Yesterday I was in my friend's 2021 F150 and we had to climb an 8000'+ mountain outside of Las Vegas to service some two-way radio equipment at the top. The road was mostly primitive and the climb angle was between 30° and 40° and the truck handled it like it was nothing. I don't think I would give up my Tundra just yet but I will say that Ford is doing a really nice job with their new trucks.
@@Terminxman I had our E350 24 ft. RV GULF STREAM Triton V10 Dualed with "Quiet Power" Magnaflows ..it sounds good & we benefit with the performance & gas mileage..👍
@@Jonathan-tb6fm yeah I’m speaking strictly the 3.5 truck. Ford is the only truck company id go with for 1/2 tons. Everything else, Toyota and Nissan are crushing it🤘
I towed a 16' trailer with a rental F150 with about 7000 pounds total. I own a 2021 Ram and I hate to say it, but the Ford towed at mostly not over 3200 RPM while, the Ram mostly stayed close to or over 4000 RPM. This was while I watched the oil temp shoot to 275. The tires on the trailer were only rated for 65 MPH so that's what I tried to maintain. To me the Ford V6 was the winner. Your Ecoboost is still going but I have my doubts about the Ram with repeated towing at 4000RPM.
Same on 2011 no problems. I don't understand the hate on ecoboost cause "the turbos will wear out". People are acting like turbos are some new technology.
You can’t go wrong with the king of all trucks! I’m so glad you got the 5.0. There are less and less of us on the road that want that 5.0 reliability over the increased power of a twin asthmatic. F150s are so roomy and comfortable inside. The cabin space is tough to beat. There’s plenty of leg room in the 2nd row for passengers to kick back and relax, without feeling overcrowded if you happen to throw a few bags back there. Seating in the Tundra feels tight and cramped, not to mention there’s even a loss of potential storage space under the seats. The only thing I like about the Tundra is the entire rear window goes down, which is extremely useful, whereas with the F150 the part that slides open is only big enough to fit maybe your head.
Glad that u sold out and are happy finally collecting money and being rich happy. U deserve it man I’ve watch and learned so much from u. A honest person like u that helps ppl all that time deserves something in return. It’s a nice truck
I love the Ford F-150 trucks. They are the best! I wish they still put the 5.8 L. Windsor engines in them, for me l think that was one of their best engines!!!!
@@10rninjariderzx lol yeah right, the 5.0 will easily take the 2.7 from a roll and will run side by side a 3.5 from a roll. Yes, the eco is faster from 0-60, but that’s about it! Tune vs tune, eco will win. Built vs built, 5.0 wins all day. 5.0 super crews have been as fast as low 10’s in the quarter!
I'll take the v8 any day, we had several eco boost models at work fail the fuel system has an over engineered duel fuel regulator system which constantly went out needing the whole system replaced multiple times in the fleet so they took em back for 5.0 v8's and no problems since.

Scotty is the king of automobile reviews! Great guy, great sense of humour, very knowledgable, and great content. I wish Scotty a long life, success, and happiness. God bless!
Ford has been using the turbo'd EcoBoost 3.5 motor since 2011. If they didn't hold up or had turbo failures all the time at 100K either Ford would have long ago lost the lead in sales, or they'd have dumped the engine. I just used my 2019 3.5 to pull sizeable trailers for 5000 out of the last 8000 miles and the oil never even budged from the full mark. Wasn't sure about buying that engine at first but I'm really pleased with it.
My 2019 F-150 2.7 eco has 70 thousand on it , so far no issues we will see if I can get 300 thousand out of it , like my other F-150 s , heard the have a rubber timing belt in the motor dipping into the oil pan IDK
@@importsstillsuck not talking electric v6 with super chargers 4 cylinder today even has enough hp similar to some v8 engines. Diesel engines are better for torque than any gasoline engines and much better on fuel for trucks. Electric have its benefit but not for long hauling

WHOA,Scotty! I LOVE little cars but I can’t let you slide on this one! When you went up to TN you rented a little red Chevy Spark, and raved about it! You liked the fact that it handled well, was zippy around town, and it was a lot of bang for the buck. It wasn’t stripped down and since they replaced the timing belt with a timing chain, you seemed to thoroughly enjoy the car. Now, today, you called the cute, gas-sipping Chevy Spark a “rolling pile of junk”??? What gives? I thought with the impending gas shortage, you’d actually LIKE a gas miser that gets almost 40 miles per gallon! (at least for the first 150k miles!). Have you forgotten what you said only 2 years ago????
Scotty, my 2013 F150 v6 ecoboost has 313k miles, all stock, nothing replaced. But my electric seat motor burnt out, should I just go ahead and push it off a cliff?
Guaranteed there will be someone to come out with an override to that system very soon, if there isn't one already. There's an easy override on GM's displacement on demand V8s now.
Cylinder deactivation is garbage... it creates nothing but trouble for engines...also auto start-stop is junk as well.. just makes things harder for the engine and electrical system.. wears things out quicker both of these so-called technologies are crap imo.
If Ford wanted to figure out what to do with the gear shifter to make the flat work surface, why in the hell didnt they move it to the column where it belongs in the first place!
My ‘91 F150 had it on the column. We had a child seat in the middle of the bench seat for 8 years. I drove that truck for 17 years. It is still being driven after a couple of other owners. My son saw it on the road a few months ago.
@fosterpainter I specifically wanted the floor shifter and my 2019 Ford F-150 XLT Sport has it. I find it very convenient to manually adjust the gear range or the shift mode. It is also convenient when I want to put it in neutral from drive so I make sure I won't accidentally go into the car in front of me if I slip off the brake. Good place to rest the right hand too. PS. I drove a manual Dakota for 17 years prior to this truck.
They make them with a column shift and still has the big center console. Instead of that pointless sedan shifter, theres just an empty spot for you to put your random junk.

Hi Scotty, I am so glad I found your videos, very entertaining and informative. I have a Ford F-150, the 5.0 liter, and I could not be happier with my choice for a pickup truck, although my first choice was a Toyota Tundra, but I couldn’t find one in my price range. I was hoping you could tell me what are the most common causes of vibrations in the front end? It happens only at low speeds, and from what I can tell it seems to happen more when the steering wheel is slightly turned left… ? I’ve checked wheel bearings, tire pressure, and breaks.. I just don’t know. But I’m no mechanic..
I work for Ford in Dearborn michigan and i help build that truck. I hope you enjoy it and i am a PROUD employee that builds the best truck world. God Bless brother
I love how ford keeps doing the 2 tone paint. Looks so good in that red or the Blue/silver. Every other truck maker has ditched the 2 tone except Ford and I think Nissan does higher trim titans with it?
I feel like reporting this post because it couldn’t be further from the truth well at least for me. I’ve got a 2018 5.0 with 67,000 miles on it and going on engine number four it’s currently back at the shop waiting on another engine and they are on back order so yeah I’m done with Ford and hope they pay out a ton of money towards the class action lawsuits on these trucks.
I had the 5.0 in my last F-150 it’s a great engine. Over 300,000 miles on it. My new truck has a 2.7 ecoboost and it’s also been a great engine. Just take care of it and it’ll last forever
@@dialaprohq I got mine for 13000 CAD (which was worth about 9,800 USD at the time of my purchase) Yes the new diesels are absolutely ridiculously priced, but You don’t need to buy brand new. Hell, the older ones are generally more reliable anyway if you can find one in good shape. I wouldn’t even trade my Ford 7.3 litre for A new diesel… well, I would but just so I could sell the new one amd make 100K lol.
I used to work at Honda, I can confirm the 1.5T are bad engines. New one have rear main seal leaks around 6k miles happens often. Check your 1.5 regularly. No do an oil change on those every 4k miles. (At the most) gotta change the oil on turbo charge engines more often.
I do agree with Scotty, Toyota needs to keep an v8 engine option for the new Tundra model. I do not plan on trading in my 3rd gen Tundra anytime soon 😎.
I bought a 2017 Mirage brand new. My wife wrecked her Chrysler Town and Country last year. So while we were waiting for the insurance company I let her drive my car. By the time the insurance company settled up with her she told me she wanted one like mine. They both consistently get between 45-50 mpg. Easy to work on, we both love them.
I have an ecoboost 2.7 and it’s solid !! 112k now my job has one with 290 original trans engine and turbos ppl act stupid and think v8 is the only way to go… it’s not … a lot of people commenting never owned an ecoboost
@Rick Do you know from experience? You would think it would have an override of some sort. I guess it's better than a dial still. Even though they all control servos now.
Actually the louvres in front of the radiator are mostly for cold areas to aid in cold start warmups. I first noticed these in Mercedes cars (if I remember correctly) and I do believe it is a good idea.
I want this truck but for some reason I’m just not worried about Toyota’s new twin turbo v6.... I know if anyone is to put a turbo 6 in a truck it should be Toyota because they will take the time to study it’s flaws before shoving it in.
I have a 2021 with the coyote v8. Only way to go. 74000 plus mi ,22to24 mpg. That's in mn where there's winter warm up. I've owned 17 Never been inside the 8. DEPENDABLE!!!
Their 3.3l v6 is a great option if one doesnt want the eco boost or v8. It doesnt get much love but it's a solid engine and has enough HP and Torque for most people. Unless you have to haul around a big motor home.
@@scott5799 I guess it depends what you want it for. I have one and it tows my trailer and hauls whatever I need in the bed. But yeah if you need to tow a motor home and haul more it's not gonna cut it. I agree. But for someone like me it's been awesome. I get 21mpg city driving. (Not towing or hauling) it's good for me. It has 290 hp and sadly it 265 lbf torque is where it falters. The 1990 v8 had about 250 hp and 400 lbf torque.
@@CJColvin its a hearty little engine to be sure.... Though people are getting crazy miles on their EcoBoosts now. The first years had their issues. But the future of their longevity remains to be seen. My brother in law has one. His truck is also a 2018 and he has loved it so far. I think he has 50k on it so far and zero issues after 3 years. So it remains to be seen. I get that you like the older stuff but a lot of older guys dismiss new tech way to quickly. I remember back in the 90's I heard the same stuff about the current trucks. Now they are hyped as good solid trucks. Lol.....
I got a 2020 2.7 twin turbo ecoboost and it's awesome. Same horsepower and torque as a v8 and better fuel mileage. I actually raced a Denali which have a 6.2 engine and beat it lol. Ecoboost for the win! I still like the v8 engine too though don't get me wrong

V8 is the way to go when getting a truck ,especially a F150
Amen to that brother. I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 141,000 miles on it and still going strong and it's a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK Catback exhaust on it.
I have a eco boost in mine and it has 300000 thousand miles on it. It’s amazing how well a engine will last when you use good oil snd changing the oil when it needs to be changed. I just bought a 2020 f 250 with the 7.3 in it and I love that truck and engine.
I would also ALWAYS put in an aftermarket performance radiator (i.e. a Mishimoto), an extra oil cooling and transmission fluid cooling system AND a larger more rugged oil filter AND a replace the current hood with a carbon fibre forced ram-air hood which has the big air scoops which will suck in cool air and force the hot air out from the engine bay much faster than normal (it also makes the truck more muscular and rugged-looking!)
Then I always put in 5W40 all-Synthetic engine oil and run -40F Winter-rated coolant fluid and change them BOTH OUT after 3000 miles (5000 km) or 3 months (whichever comes first!).

Seating in the Tundra feels tight and cramped, not to mention there’s even a loss of potential storage space under the seats. The only thing I like about the Tundra is the entire rear window goes down, which is extremely useful, whereas with the F150 the part that slides open is only big enough to fit maybe your head.

Guaranteed there will be someone to come out with an override to that system very soon, if there isn't one already. There's an easy override on GM's displacement on demand V8s now.
VWs here in the UK have it and it works pretty flawlessly. The cylinders cut right back in when you floor it. Saves about 10% on fuel.
