A SUBSCRIBER Needed My Help | Garden dream, turned garden NIGHTMARE

  • In this video, I visit a channel subscriber who contacted me and asked for my help in her garden. Due to a nasty back injury, she was unable to do anything in her garden for just over a year. Which had turned her dreamy garden into an overgrown and unusable (by her grandchildren) garden nightmare.
    I saw how the garden used to look, after she sent me some old pictures. My goal is to get it looking back to how it used to be.
    It was a fair drive away from where I live, so unfortunately I had limited time to try and whip this garden back into some sort of shape. Lets see how I get on.
    Pretty much my whole Kit & Equipment list can be found here : (I Earn A Commission)

    I have had very good luck replacing the rechargeable batteries in solar lights with new rechargeable batteries ! Theres usually a littlte hatch somewhere you can get at with a tiny phillips head screwdriver. I replaced one at a time with a new battery, if it diddnt revive, i swspped the new battery into the next one. Over 75% of my moms dead lights sprang back into life after a day in the sunvwith a new battery. ( i went one by onecbecause i didnt want to buy a lot of rechargable batteries at high cost if it wasnt going to work out. I just bought a few at a time)

      That's a great idea, I shall pass along the info. It'd be great if she didn't have to replace all of them, not to mention not very eco friendly 😅
      Hopefully, it'll work 🙏 🤞
      Thanks again
      Martin.

    • @martinthegardenguy
      @martinthegardenguy  25 дней назад +3

      A valid question 😅 I move one of them, but the other two had been tied together with the thick metal wire (like on the opposite side) and had wooden pallets screwed to them. It was a total nightmare to shift them, at least without any tools that aren't gardening tools 😂

    Poor lady, unable to tend to the garden she loved and watching it revert to a field (paddock!). A great start, and once the fences are back up . . . By the way, check the ones still standing too, some of them looked pretty wobbly in that breeze. What did the red ants do to you?

    • @martinthegardenguy
      @martinthegardenguy  23 дня назад +3

      They nibbled my lega 😂 I think I was standing on one of their nests, and they crawled up my leg 😅 I can't blame them, though. I did wrecking ball there garden.
      I'll hopefully get the fence sorted, your right, there were some very wobbly ones. It's what happens when a neighbor decides to use them as a retaining wall 😡

    • @catherinefromchristchurchn6508
      @catherinefromchristchurchn6508 23 дня назад

      If there are any fence related costs on the retaining side, you should advise said neighbour of total and half and suggest they pay half. Choices, consequences. Here that actually has its own Act. Not sure about there. Leave the ants alone in future (as much as possible). 😊

    From the front of the house (I think by law) is the boarder to the left, so why havent the neighbours sorted the fence ? ......

      Your guess is as good as mine, he was supposed to. It also appears it was his fault they fell down. If you look closely, you can see he's piled up the earth on his side, and tried to use the fence as a retaining wall 🤯 crazy.

    Did you pick up the fence

    • @martinthegardenguy
      @martinthegardenguy  24 дня назад

      I picked up one or two, the ones I left were screwed to large wooden pallets and wrapped up in thick wire from the very old wire fence.
      I didn't have any kit to cut them, so I left them alone until I did. They would have disinterested if I'd have tried to force them off the ground.
      Valid question though 😊😅
