Lyrics:
Did you hear about the midnight rambler?
Everybody got to go
Did you hear about the midnight rambler?
The one that shut the kitchen door
He don't give a hoot of warning
Wrapped up in a black cat cloak
He don't go in the light of the morning
He split the time the cock will crow
Talkin' about the midnight gambler
The one you never seen before
Talkin' about the midnight gambler
Did you see him jump the garden wall
Sighin' down the wind so softly
Listen and you'll hear him moan
Yeah well talkin' about the midnight gambler
Everybody got to go
Did you hear about the midnight rambler
Well, honey, it's no rock 'n' roll show
Well, I'm talkin' about the midnight gambler
Yeah, the one you never seen before
Oh don't do that, oh don't do that, oh don't do that
Don't you do that, don't you do that
Well, you heard about the Boston
Its not one of those
Well, talkin ‘bout the midnight unh shhh
The one that closed the bedroom door
I’m called the hit and run raper in anger
The knife sharpened tippie toe
Or just the shoot em’ dead brain bell jangler
You know, the one you never seen before
So if you ever meet the midnight rambler
A coming down your marble hall
Well he’s pouncing like a proud black panther
Well, you can say I, I told you so!
Well don’t cha listen for the midnight rambler
Hey! Yah play it easy as you go
I’m gonna smash down all your plate glass windows
Put a fist, put a fist through your steel plated door
Did you hear about the midnight rambler
He'll leave his footprints up and down your hall
And did you hear about the midnight gambler
And did you see me make my midnight call
And if you ever catch the midnight rambler
I'll steal your mistress from under your nose
I'll go easy with your cold fandango
I'll stick my knife right down your throat, baby
And it hurts!

The moment you realize this is the greatest Rock & Roll band ever.
Not this song though
I have always thought that this song is a masterpiece. The vocals, the drums, the guitar the harmonica!
It doesn't get any better!
One of my favorites....but I believe the Stones Masterpiece is Sympathy for the Devil.....
It's the intro... Gotta be one of the best guitar hooks ever. "Everytime you smoke a cig, you take 7 minutes off your life and give those to Keith Richards. "
@@cliffnelson1174 true, that is their best song. That and Jumpin' Jack Flash in my humble opinion
I agree. People just don't seem to realize the greatness..&.only song that makes serial kill!ng appealing
@@cliffnelson1174Greatest band ever, my favorite anyway. Multiple masterpieces throughout the decades. 👑
The live version of Midnight Rambler is great and a standard rock classic. But this studio version, wow!!! This is the best harmonica solo EVER!!!
This is absolutely the greatest rock’n’roll song of all time.
Gimme Shelter!
Time waits for noone... followed by Cant You hear me knocking.
This is third. 🙄
Yep, I'm with you on that one.
One of my favorites. Haven't heard it in a long time. It's in the movie "Music Within"
ROCKSOFF, number one!!!
Hit after hit for 6 decades. Easily, The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock n roll band ever.
I appreciate what the Beatles did... but I agree...Stones are the best!!!
@@craiggladon1166 Yes, the Beatles were fantastic but, who stood the test of time. the body of work of the Rolling stones and longevity is proof in the pudding.
"This record should be played loud "... this was on the bottom right hand corner of album cover...I'm 71 yrs old now and been plaving it very loud for 54 years... this is the second greatest rock n roll song ever recorded behind ONLY "gimme Shelter"...Let it bleed" is greatest rock n roll album ever recorded

the harmonica's good too, not over fancy, just those swampy midnite tones ✅
Elizabeth Mchugh, you've got the same name as Mick Jagger's daughter!
Midnight Rambler was the last Rolling Stones song that Brian Jones recorded with them in the Spring 1969. You Got The Silver was the second last Brian Jones recorded with them in February 1969.
Supposedly he played percussion, but it's barely audible
Yes,it would be the last time the 5 original Rolling Stones would play together. Mick, Keith, Brian,Bill and Charlie. Wow!

I love Keith’s clean and slightly distorted guitar in this song.
Lead guitarists , are in another world.BUT, mastery of rhythm guitar is what gets ,and keeps you rock''n ,...and the girls, sway'n.In short ,Keith got you laid. :)
Every aspect of this song fits together perfectly. Even after 55 years it's still one of the greatest rock songs ever.
When the drum beat changes at 2:26 is everything
I can picture Keith giving him the visual cue

LET IT BLEED...no doubt, one of the best LP of the fantastic band..
Have to agree though I think that makes two of us.
It is the best
@@tommybrannigan9462 "Exile" would be , but for the filler.Let It Bleed ,stands as the most consistently , superb.

one of the best LP (of the fantastic band)....... of the century
I have an extensive record collection and only have 3 albums with 2 copies, Neil Young Harvest, the Beatles Sgt Pepper and Stone's Let It Bleed, just turned 68 and still play them .
The greatest groove album EVER!!!!!!!
You can't listen and not tap your feet. I hope Charlie Watts had ten kids and they all drum!!!!
❤
My three favorites are Gimmie Shelter, Midnight Rambler, and Sympathy for the Devil...the Stones at their darkest! If I were to assign an aura color to these songs, the first one gets the coldest gray and the latter two--Black!
The Hoodooiest Stones track, tribal and primal
2:12 ... R.I.P Charlie Watts. During my teenage years in the vinyl era, I have been skipping the turntable arm back and forth listening carefully to this primitive yet stylish tempo change sequence, from shuffle to straight four, asking myself: how does he do it ?
I've always loved that change - shuffle 12/8 to driving 4/4. Typical of Charlie to come up with something that keeps the track burning.
I have never been much of a Stones fan - but I do respect their body of work. This is one of the tracks that all the news stories were pointing to. Listening with "new ears" today. I'm a musician myself, and boy did that tempo change jump out at me. Great stuff.
That’s pretty sweet! I never thought about that change before.
I don’t know 🤷♂️. He certainly took it to the grave. The Stones are simply INCREDIBLE!
He just lands that shuffle plane on the 4/4 runway than takes off again.
I am 18 years old, and heard Rolling Stones’s songs since I was five, they are simply perfect!!!
I'm 65 and I've been listening to the Stones since I was a kid - I'm still rocking !
@@stevencooper787 Same here, but I'm younger than than you. I'm only 63, LOL! It's only rock and roll, but I like it. ! Yes, I do. !
Bro same I'm 18 and nothing can beat the stones
I’m 19. Same
I'm 67 and got their first US album (England's Newest Hitmakers, untitled in England) in 1964 when I was 11, still listening to the world's greatest rock n roll band. Looks like I'm the grand daddy here.
My favorite Charlie track, RIP thank you for everything Charlie.
I guess they are Kevin and the Zits now.
no we are still kevin and the zits
No man, we are.
Once again never agreed upon
nah man, we are
Big Zit coming your way.......
I don't know if The Stones will tour anymore but as far as front men go Mick is truly a one off, we'll not see anyone like him again I think. And even if we do they'll just be copying his style and not be original. Back when both they and The Beatles were new to America I never dreamed They would still be performing live over 50 years later! Hell, I never thought much more ahead than the next day!
He plays the harp. He rocks. The greatest rock band in the world.
Charlie Watts man. Begins with that simple swing on the high-hat and the snare. Speeds it up, adds some flairs with the high-hat. Slows it down briefly before transitions to double-time at 1:31 with alternating hands. While doing that signature Watts snare drum style (doesn't hit the high hat / snare at the same time, there-by accenting the snare). Slows down with the groove again and by 2:24 is playing back on one hand for the high hat with plenty of energy with the snare. For the finale he ditches the high-hat and goes for the ride and crashing cymbal work.
Simple, effective, drum work.
Lol. This is basic backbeat, no need for all that.

The live version from 1969 was what heard first. It was on Hot Rocks. I was really amazed! Got the Live Album later. I eventually got the studio version . And album.
Bill Wyman’s baseline is filthy 😊
Never, ever gets old.
These Lyrics are Perfect. Feels like I'm simultaneously reading a book by the same Title of the song because it's so descriptive. Every Band Member is Spot On. I listen to this version all the time. It's always gonna be Long but when you're in the mood for it, it's never too long! The Rolling Stones.
So, so good...and could never be made today. Amazing theatricality!
A fantastic song, smoke some good weed and take a listen.
OMG !!! YES LIKE RIGHT NOW OCTOBER 31 23!!! FLINT MI. IS SOOOOOI WITH YA ALL
Lollollol❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What makes this tune amazing... I mean... what really separates it out ... tempo. To be able to handle dramatic tempo changes... playing this live must have been a nightmare. I saw them when the screwed it up... and when they nailed it cold... but this song is a risk... which makes it that much better.
100% agreed! If you listen to various live versions, especially from different shows throughout the 1969 tour of the U.S., you can hear that they often had a hard time with it. (If you search for Rolling Stones Killer Festival on here, you can probably find a very good bootleg of the tragic Altamont concert - what must this song have sounded like in a crowd of 300,000 with hundreds of Hells Angels randomly brutalizing, and actually murdering, fellow concert-goers?) Even during the 3 (or was it 4?) shows taped for the "Get Yer Ya-Yas Out!" live LP at Madison Square Garden, most of which you can find on RUclips, once they get to the "quiet" part - where the bass drops out on the record version - they kind of struggle to hit those beats at the same time. Still glorious, and this is one of my favorite Stones tunes ever.
Lovin' the lyrics... In all my years I've never known the proper lyrics for their songs. A whole new level of enjoyment! Excellent!!
I got this record when I was 14, and as with many Stones songs, I couldn't understand half of what Jagger was saying - I didn't care what the square root of 64 was, I wanted to know the lyrics to the songs on "Let it Bleed"! (And "Sticky FIngers," and "Beggar's Banquet," and ESPECIALLY the completely incomprehensible lyrics on "Exile on Main Street"). Eventually I found a couple of songbooks that had accurate lyrics to most of those albums, and then somebody invented the Internet and finally I knew what Mick was singing on "Casino Boogie" from "Exile".
No habrá ninguna Banda que le ate los cordones a los Stones por Dios

My best friebd played guitar & harmonica & we would jam on his back porch. I loved to sing, thinking that remembering all the words in order was all there was to it. He gave me my first Harmonica,Koher Blues Harp; I learned by ear, no-one gave harmonica lessons. I was inspired by Black Sabbath's The Wizard & Alice Cooper's Generation Landslide, still I consider based on length of playing begining to end. The Rolling Stones Midnight Rambler is the ultimate Blues Harp song. A nod to Little Walter Jagger's said inspiration.
Been a fan since I was a teenager you will be sadly missed Charlie ,RIP.
Happy Birthday Keith Richards!!! What if it's not a joke, and he DOES outlive everybody??? The way things are going lately, I don't know...........😉

You know what makes Let It Bleed such a great album (top ten all time in my view), sure it's loaded with great songs, but within many of those great songs is an underlying theme - 30 second plus grooves without lyrics.
