As a combat veteran, my recommendation is to put the cummerbund back on to attach the IFAC on your side. It will serve two purposes. 1) Easier to get to, to administer self first aid. 2) Arm rest after several hours of fighting in combat. I also recommend strapping a CAT tourniquet to the front of the plate carrier. We used two rubber bands fed through the molle. It's easy to get to and break the rubber bands in order to use.
I don’t recommend rubber banding life saving equipment to your kit. We used to do that as well but I think there are a lot better ways to store a tourniquet and still access it quickly.

Coming from someone who spent over a decade as a Force Recon Marine, rhino poacher hunter, and warfare survival instructor - MOST civilians shouldn't waste their time thinking they will be doing raids and room clearing in WRoL or civil war environment. Their bread and butter should be guerrilla tactics such as sabotage, harassment, hasty ambush, etc., where speed, mobility, and anonymity be their protection. For the average Joe, don't waste time and money dreaming about the ballistic rig and battle belt. Simply get a minimum viable rifle, IFAk, magazines, multitool, and something that gives you the ability to carry them and conceal or dump it all at a moments notice. Then train train train. Micro rigs and cross body bags will be the 21st century mainstays of a partisan force for their low cost and unprecedented ability for concealment
I went with Vietnam era Alice gear with 2 water bottles, 6 magazines + 1 in rifle, ifak, and admin pouches for food/snacks, fire, knife, water treatment, lights, deet, and a camo poncho. My house backs up on a national river preserve, so also have a stash if I need to hide in the woods and pick off intruders (ghillie suit, a camo thermal blanket, and monocular cheapo nods). We would rock 9 to 11 mags when we didn't have body armor because once it runs out, so does your pulse. Other than increasing your mag load out I would recommend simple comms and maybe a couple smokes. Smokes are super easy to make out of stump remover and sugar.

I'm seeing war fighters and youtubers bringing back webbing to lay down flat and for easier load outs with easy off/discard/ hiding to blend in near cities and suburbs. I have level IV plates and a slick chest rig, but figured hiding out in the woods in a ghillie under a thermal blanket was enough while plinking intruders on my property. I even have a DJI drone in my pack. 😀 Honestly I'm more concerned about bugs and snakes in the Georgia woods. I have the chest rig with plates in my closet, if I have to make a stand. Keep it packed in your ruck, sling it when you need it, and either toss it or stow it when empty. Hunkering down in your own home is likely the only place armor will be of any use for 90% of people, so that's a good place to store it. XTS's are solid. If your crew is out of range a simple LoRa setup is dirt cheap, dead easy to use, and worth its weight in gold.

I love the video, but cant help but notice your SOG is behind your sidearm? In an instance where someone would go for your sidearm, you're going to retain it with that right hand. Which means your knife is useless, and or an easy weapon for your aggressor. Training with it on the left handed side, makes it a useful tool. You dont wanna run items on your kit that you arent meant to use. Not only is it a tool, but a "get off me stick."
I run the Kore belt. I run all wrap velcro across any belt attachments where you lose velcro. That way you can add it back in and add build up if needed to retain full contact
Check the Garand Thumb video with the Ukrainian War Vets. They say side plates (soft or hard) are mandatory with all the artillery shrapnel they encounter. May want to get that cumber bund back on.

The Warrior Poet Belt IFAK is the best, in my opinion, to run on a belt. It's quickly deployed by pulling the trauma shears, which makes it easily accessible with one hand. They retail at $130, but they have sales during holidays.

Little tip if you're running a 2 belt system, get a roll of 2in wide adhesive velcro and line the parts of your holster and pouches that are blocking the velcro of the outer. This way, you will have full contact between the 2 belts all the way around. This is what my brother and I did when we worked corrections for our local Sheriff's Department for a few years. It makes a big difference. Also, the safelife defense belts are really nice if they are in your budget.
I run the Testudo Gen II also but with Battle Steel III+ 4.5lbs ceramic plates, I put quick release clips on my cummerbund and run an IFAK on it. I have a few different chest rigs and currently use a Tacticon Armament V2 battle belt with a Safariland ALS lvl III retention holster. I will likely upgrade the belt and kit throughout time. I think most of us get wrapped up in buying gear and not training enough, it's always more important to train with what you have and actually using/testing your gear.
used a testudo for a little while in the army and it was a perfect platform to carry my plates and rig up my TAPS system to and remain light weight and comfortable
It will never make sense to me to choose a chest rig over a plate carrier. If we're gonna be armed like this, get a plate carrier! This is my current loadout: 1. HHV Ballistic Helmet ATE ALL BLACK I still need to get my IFAK stuff and I wanna get Safe Life Defense FRAS plates. In total, i wanna be able to carry 3 mags in front, 1 in AR, 1 on belt, and 2 in my bag. 1 pistol mag in gun, 2 on belt, and 4 in bag.
My setup is pretty much old/used police gear. Full duty belt with holsters for any of my sidearms i might want to use. still working on getting a vest and an AR
I notice that you have your mag turned forward like I do. I took a tactical carbine course one time and the instructors said they recommend it facing back. They did it to train the people there who were new to ar shooting with whats known as a "beer can grip" (I think that's what its called), which i'll admit give you a stronger hold on your mag but is slower.
Pimp ifak from Flatline Fiber Co. is my minimum medical kit. My battle belt is Defense Mechanism, which makes some of the best gear I've used. Their mag carriers go flat when not used and makes inserting them a breeze. Thanks for Dara holster review, been looking for a OWB for my Hellcat Pro.👍🏽

in my opinion, you only need iron sights on a handgun. also in my opinion, you don't need a handgun for a SHTF situation. it doesn't have a lot of range or power, requires more maintenance. handguns are great for concealment in everyday situations like going to the store though!
Rhino Rescue is good for people looking for medical kits/supplies on a budget. Best quality and made in the USA is Refuge Medical. It will cost you a bit more but the quality and warranty can't be beat.
i have that same plate carrier and i love it i use mine for airsoft got the kangaroo pouch and 2 double ar pouches. and a 511 belt with 3 double ar pouches from 511 2 upside down and 1 upright for my p90
Love what you are doing guys. The biggest opportunity you are missing to test out gear is airsoft. No where else is it acceptable to run around in gear for 12-36 hours in full kit doing force on force for civilians. You guys should give it a shot. If you need help, let me know! I work full time in the industry as well as own a force on force training center for civilians, so this is my entire life haha!
@@woodsghost9088 those are great learning opportunities it looks like but not a great place to get reps. To be good at anything you need reps. For civilians airsoft is the only affordable widely available option, especially now that sims are banned for civilians. So those are great places to learn, but not something most people can travel to monthly or even quarterly.

I actually use the veritas with lapg lvl4s was a tight fit but works well. Building another soon and the testudo was high on my list. Ar500 is great to deal with. Lapg is my go to for alotttt of stuff
I like my new magpul gloves. I've had mechanix gloves in the past. M pacts mostly. Magpul just makes everything so much easier to feel for. I feel though they won't be nearly as durable but will be much more comfortable around the inbetweens on the fingers.
A good idea is to sow qd plastic clips to your chest rig on the back, then you can clip a camel back/bladder pouch to your back w/o having to weave it over your shoulders and under your arms, and youll never forget it b/c it's sown in.
I edc my full kit (plate carrier, belt, pistol) i go everywhere with it and at this point everyone's used to seeing it and they feel comfortable asking questions and i have cops that ask for advice for gear while they're off duty

I don’t think the average prepared citizen realizes that it takes at least 4-5grand to kit out fully. The only shortcuts are chest rigs that are larger to remove belt kit. Even still, lots of money to kit out a combatant
It can be done for way cheaper. It depends what you mean by "kitted out" which also depends what you mean by "being prepared." From a certain point of view, it's actually impossible to kit out for less than $15,000. From another perspective, you can be very effectively kitted for about $600.

I have the agilite k19 carrier they ripped off. I also recently bought the rip off to test in the milsim airsoft thing i use to test all my gear. Its held up pretty well. Ive had the grab handle rip off of 2 of my testudo 2 carriers during games and the agilite and the rip off are running strong. I like buying rip offs of things and running them into the ground.

Forewarning: I am just an average larperator who likes to shoot things, be comfortable while shooting the things, and hopefully look cool doign it. I have zero actual fighting experience. Almost all the items listed are from opinions based on my usage of them while shooting, taking classes, and doing airsoft shit. I am not a sage of gear wisdom. Crye JPC 1.0/2.0 or Esstac Daedon are good carriers at the lower price range, even better if you get them used of fb or ebay. HSGI Core isnt too bad for the price of $100, but it isn't still isnt great. Esstac kywis are going to be some of the best inserts/pouches and their placards arent bad either, especially for the price. HSGI Taco pouches are another option if you want a more universal pouch, but I don't like the re-index on them. Hoplite or Highcom are other great options for plates besides LA, and currently both have sales going on. Do not go HESCO as they have recalls on almost all of their commercial plates about a year after release for the past decade, and dont meet NIJ certification either. LBT/LBX are fine for budget tearaway/blowout ifaks, for a full size budget ifak old USMC eagle ifaks and some blackhawk ones are good. For higher end ifaks Blue Force Gear, Coyote tactical and the newer Eagle's are some of the best. I'm not knowledgable on battle belts but I've heard the Kore belts are great. For quality gear avoid productions post 2010 from Condor, Blackhawk and Paraclete. HRT is overpriced for most of their products, as you can normally get Crye SPC/AVS/JPC or Shaw ARC V2 for the same price. Shaw Arc V3 placard is probably the best placard on the market for placard based carriers. The best compact pouches are Blueforce Gear Ten-Speed's as they lie flat when empty and weigh basically nothing, they are great for mounting on the sides of carriers or front of placards. I'd advise against those plastic backed elastic TQ holders that you weave through molle, just use a rubberband or buy and actual pouch for them. All you really need for an IFAK is TQ's, shears, marker, gloves, packing bandages and chest seals. You can add some quikclot, wrapping gauze, burn dressings and tape if you really think you'll need them. Take classes on the use of your medical items, or at the very least watch a few videos on propper useage.
2 is 1 and 1 is none. Get more tqs. Chest seals are cool. Best thing you can do is bring your gear to a couple milsims. I found ojt the testudo 2 is ass when the grab handles on both of my carriers ripped off when i was dragged after being shot in the leg. Lost the dude dragging me to a mask shot the first time when he stood there with my handle in his hand lol. My agilite k19 and the tacticon arms ripoff of it have done well. Couldnt pay me to use a testudo again. But i never would have know without using it. If a shtf sit happened and i was shot and needed to be dragged id have been dead. Maybe my guy too.test your shit. In civilian circumstances, if your engagement lasts more than that, you've made a serious error in judgment. The weight penalty is particularly severe when avoiding combat is (or should be) the goal.
You can't just say "SOG" knives are good... You have to pay attention to the blade steel and other factors.. 420HC, 1095, D2, 10Cr15CoMoV, 20CV, AEB-L, 80CrV2, AUS-10 Magnacut, CruWear, M390, 3V, Sandvik 14C28N, etc. These all have different levels of edge retention, hardness, corrosion resistance, sharpening difficulty, etc. You don't want to go out with a knife that is going to go dull after 10 cuts or rust from sweat or rain or snap when it encounters resistance. Do the tiniest bit of research before buying, please. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars, but you should know what you are buying and how to maintain it.
Hey guys just found your videos and i have been enjoying them. I got an ar 15 the troy defense about 12 years ago from dicks sporting goods. I havent shot it much so it is like new. I just got a hellcat pro for CCW. I plan to get my wife something no sure what yet. I have a pump shotgun but she cant use it. I was thinking of a PCC for her for home defense. also, what order should i get all this. I would like a light and enclosed reddot for my pistol and a red dot and maginfier for the rifle. just dont know how to start getting all this. I dont have that kind of money to get it all at once. any ideas.

I run a blade on both sides.
Push dagger integrated into my drop down firearm side.
And then a full sized fixed blade to the rear of my mag pouches.

This way, you will have full contact between the 2 belts all the way around. This is what my brother and I did when we worked corrections for our local Sheriff's Department for a few years. It makes a big difference. Also, the safelife defense belts are really nice if they are in your budget.

I run the Testudo Gen II also but with Battle Steel III+ 4.5lbs ceramic plates, I put quick release clips on my cummerbund and run an IFAK on it. I have a few different chest rigs and currently use a Tacticon Armament V2 battle belt with a Safariland ALS lvl III retention holster. I will likely upgrade the belt and kit throughout time. I think most of us get wrapped up in buying gear and not training enough, it's always more important to train with what you have and actually using/testing your gear.
used a testudo for a little while in the army and it was a perfect platform to carry my plates and rig up my TAPS system to and remain light weight and comfortable

I think having multiple tourniquets is a good idea as well, not just 1 in the ifak. If you need one you’ll probably need more.

I notice that you have your mag turned forward like I do. I took a tactical carbine course one time and the instructors said they recommend it facing back. They did it to train the people there who were new to ar shooting with whats known as a "beer can grip" (I think that's what its called), which i'll admit give you a stronger hold on your mag but is slower.
Pimp ifak from Flatline Fiber Co. is my minimum medical kit. My battle belt is Defense Mechanism, which makes some of the best gear I've used. Their mag carriers go flat when not used and makes inserting them a breeze. Thanks for Dara holster review, been looking for a OWB for my Hellcat Pro.👍🏽
I can appreciate what yall have done here, but I've always run "cheap" kit and had good luck. I personally think it's Evista possible to do a loadout including everything here and then some for $1000. But great video!

in my opinion, you only need iron sights on a handgun. also in my opinion, you don't need a handgun for a SHTF situation. it doesn't have a lot of range or power, requires more maintenance. handguns are great for concealment in everyday situations like going to the store though!

i have that same plate carrier and i love it i use mine for airsoft got the kangaroo pouch and 2 double ar pouches. and a 511 belt with 3 double ar pouches from 511 2 upside down and 1 upright for my p90
Love what you are doing guys. The biggest opportunity you are missing to test out gear is airsoft. No where else is it acceptable to run around in gear for 12-36 hours in full kit doing force on force for civilians. You guys should give it a shot. If you need help, let me know! I work full time in the industry as well as own a force on force training center for civilians, so this is my entire life haha!

For civilians airsoft is the only affordable widely available option, especially now that sims are banned for civilians. So those are great places to learn, but not something most people can travel to monthly or even quarterly.

I actually use the veritas with lapg lvl4s was a tight fit but works well. Building another soon and the testudo was high on my list. Ar500 is great to deal with. Lapg is my go to for alotttt of stuff

I like my new magpul gloves. I've had mechanix gloves in the past. M pacts mostly. Magpul just makes everything so much easier to feel for. I feel though they won't be nearly as durable but will be much more comfortable around the inbetweens on the fingers.

For plate carrier I like the condor exo gen 2 with the retro Cummerbund (condors qd) what I use every day for work. Mid teir and works great

A good idea is to sow qd plastic clips to your chest rig on the back, then you can clip a camel back/bladder pouch to your back w/o having to weave it over your shoulders and under your arms, and youll never forget it b/c it's sown in.

I would swap the SOG knives to Glock Field Knive 78 or 81. Cheaper and MIL-SPEC.. And longer blades.

The plates can always go into a load bearing backpack if you don't need them when traveling on foot in an area you think you won't be getting shot at.

Never put your plates in your backpack. Your still have all the mf weight of carrying them and non of the protection.

I don’t think the average prepared citizen realizes that it takes at least 4-5grand to kit out fully. The only shortcuts are chest rigs that are larger to remove belt kit. Even still, lots of money to kit out a combatant
It can be done for way cheaper. It depends what you mean by "kitted out" which also depends what you mean by "being prepared." From a certain point of view, it's actually impossible to kit out for less than $15,000.
From another perspective, you can be very effectively kitted for about $600.

I have the agilite k19 carrier they ripped off. I also recently bought the rip off to test in the milsim airsoft thing i use to test all my gear. Its held up pretty well. Ive had the grab handle rip off of 2 of my testudo 2 carriers during games and the agilite and the rip off are running strong. I like buying rip offs of things and running them into the ground.

For the price you paid for that plate carrier could’ve gotten something better and made the USA and same goes for the plate. Places had Hasco had 4401s and 4400 level four were on sale for very long time for 125 bucks a pop.
Placard systems arent pricy. I got an idogear one for $35 and it has more than served its purpose

Forewarning: I am just an average larperator who likes to shoot things, be comfortable while shooting the things, and hopefully look cool doign it. I have zero actual fighting experience. Almost all the items listed are from opinions based on my usage of them while shooting, taking classes, and doing airsoft shit. I am not a sage of gear wisdom.
Crye JPC 1.0/2.0 or Esstac Daedon are good carriers at the lower price range, even better if you get them used of fb or ebay. HSGI Core isnt too bad for the price of $100, but it isn't still isnt great. Esstac kywis are going to be some of the best inserts/pouches and their placards arent bad either, especially for the price. HSGI Taco pouches are another option if you want a more universal pouch, but I don't like the re-index on them. Hoplite or Highcom are other great options for plates besides LA, and currently both have sales going on. Do not go HESCO as they have recalls on almost all of their commercial plates about a year after release for the past decade, and dont meet NIJ certification either. LBT/LBX are fine for budget tearaway/blowout ifaks, for a full size budget ifak old USMC eagle ifaks and some blackhawk ones are good. For higher end ifaks Blue Force Gear, Coyote tactical and the newer Eagle's are some of the best. I'm not knowledgable on battle belts but I've heard the Kore belts are great. For quality gear avoid productions post 2010 from Condor, Blackhawk and Paraclete. HRT is overpriced for most of their products, as you can normally get Crye SPC/AVS/JPC or Shaw ARC V2 for the same price. Shaw Arc V3 placard is probably the best placard on the market for placard based carriers. The best compact pouches are Blueforce Gear Ten-Speed's as they lie flat when empty and weigh basically nothing, they are great for mounting on the sides of carriers or front of placards. I'd advise against those plastic backed elastic TQ holders that you weave through molle, just use a rubberband or buy and actual pouch for them. All you really need for an IFAK is TQ's, shears, marker, gloves, packing bandages and chest seals. You can add some quikclot, wrapping gauze, burn dressings and tape if you really think you'll need them. Take classes on the use of your medical items, or at the very least watch a few videos on propper useage.
Swap that knife for a gerber strongarm .........trust me, it's a very beefy knife for around the sog price. And made here in America too.

I found ojt the testudo 2 is ass when the grab handles on both of my carriers ripped off when i was dragged after being shot in the leg. Lost the dude dragging me to a mask shot the first time when he stood there with my handle in his hand lol. My agilite k19 and the tacticon arms ripoff of it have done well. Couldnt pay me to use a testudo again. But i never would have know without using it. If a shtf sit happened and i was shot and needed to be dragged id have been dead. Maybe my guy too.test your shit. In civilian circumstances, if your engagement lasts more than that, you've made a serious error in judgment. The weight penalty is particularly severe when avoiding combat is (or should be) the goal.

You can't just say "SOG" knives are good... You have to pay attention to the blade steel and other factors.. 420HC, 1095, D2, 10Cr15CoMoV, 20CV, AEB-L, 80CrV2, AUS-10 Magnacut, CruWear, M390, 3V, Sandvik 14C28N, etc. These all have different levels of edge retention, hardness, corrosion resistance, sharpening difficulty, etc.
You don't want to go out with a knife that is going to go dull after 10 cuts or rust from sweat or rain or snap when it encounters resistance. Do the tiniest bit of research before buying, please. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars, but you should know what you are buying and how to maintain it.

Hey guys just found your videos and i have been enjoying them. I got an ar 15 the troy defense about 12 years ago from dicks sporting goods. I havent shot it much so it is like new. I just got a hellcat pro for CCW. I plan to get my wife something no sure what yet. I have a pump shotgun but she cant use it. I was thinking of a PCC for her for home defense. also, what order should i get all this. I would like a light and enclosed reddot for my pistol and a red dot and maginfier for the rifle. just dont know how to start getting all this. I dont have that kind of money to get it all at once. any ideas.
