I went into WoS, flagship Branch, Regent Street London, enquiring about 5167A, cost about £20K. I have a significant spend history of circa £100k, with my local WoS. The Patek SA, was rude, condescending , supercillious, and told me I had to buy a non-sports model first, and she didn't care for my spend history at their sister branch. She showed me the watches I could buy TODAY " AS THEY MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE TOMORROW" To get my name on the list for a sports model. They were all between 60k and 90k, but I had to buy today, to get on the list. Christ, I was thinking, spend 80 k to have a chance of buying a 20k watch. The SA was out of their mind. They have lost the plot. I could go grey, and still have change!
Yes, the latest policy at AD is you WILL NEED to buy complications or grand complications to have a CHANCE to buy a popular sports model (Aquanaut or Nautilus or Cubitus). It does not matter if you have long spend history, everyone starts from scratch at some of these ADs when it comes to popular sports models. AND you are not guaranteed to have the allocation even if you had purchased your "bundled" time piece. They implemented this policy so that the AD can generate more sales (especially from those not-so-popular dress watches). So with this policy in place, do you still want to play the AD game????
@@Xpert37 Good point, but I sense from what I heard from various ADs, and potential clients they simply are not prepared to engage in this lunacy anymore. Sales from ADs and grey market dealers are still continually falling as are the prices.
Isn't it just easier to pay a premium in the secondary market? You won't lose tons of money on watches you do not want and you get the sports model you do right away?
Been at this for long. Don’t play the ad game if you’re not willing to Simp or aren’t a literal billionaire. Go grey. Pay 15-20% extra. Get your watch.
when I have visited the PP they told me that I have to buy 3 models and after they will place me on the wishlist which mean as you said any guarantee… it can sound strange but for me its better to know “the conditions” than virtualy wait and wait and never will come :)) and its on everybody if he paid premium for sport model or will start a journey with the brand…
Just buy a Car for the Salesman as a gift and their you go,you have got all the dream watch to come and be first on the list all the time and everytime😂
I failed to mention, when I was told I had to buy any dress watch to get a 5167a , I said" great I will buy a Calatrava today" After a lenghty pause and SOME PRETENDING tapping on her PC, she said " no not a Calatrava, anyone but that" Then directed me to buy PP dress watches north of £60000 . What a loon, she was. Do people actually fall for this BS
You are actually advising us to basically kiss their ass if we want to buy a watch from them. I'll pass thanks, I'd rather do without and keep my pride.
Basically, kiss their ass and hope they give you what you want. Lol, buy something else to be allowed to buy what you want? No thanks. Grey market, here I come
I love watches but this is some weird elitist crap. It's like how Jay Leno says he'll never buy a Ferrari, I'd never buy a watch with this sort of baked in elitism. Kissing the ass of a dealer just to get a watch is absurd. I have too much pride and self respect to ever simp like that.

Build relationship by spending money lol. This game is dumb
It's not dumb
People who are wealthy have done it many times in their life
Do you know what spending money on watches tells the gatekeepers? You like watches. Of course your not gonna re sell

agree
Grey doesn't mean 15-20% more than retail - some commanded 100% over retail.
@@Xpert37 other than very few hype watches, most ap/patek/als grey is below rrp 😅
I would rather stay with Rolex cheers.
Consider yourself trolled, you can't even buy a Rolex, I'll show you how to buy a patek that you'll never be able to get

Buy a ladies piece, ideally a grand complication eg 7140g and you’ll get whatever you want.
I am here waiting to graduate from seiko to
Invicta
@@JC-db4ihpeople don't buy invicta
I started with Seiko. Nothing wrong with them.
Are you benson Boone???
I would buy a Calatrava rose gold small second regardless, I’m gonna try that 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 will update 😊

These watch brands are ridiculous.

Fortunately, I don't like any Patek models.
It ain't easy being cheesy
