Actually have never seen the Last Unicorn so I was both puzzled and curious each time this was on a vote.
The little to no/no damage builds are always fun. Not for every group, especially cause illusions are always touchy, but encourages creativity.
It is a wonderful movie and an even better book! Really, it's a fairy tale where most of the characters know on at least some level that they are IN a fairy tale

It's an 80s unicorn movie w/ big time anime vibes & trauma inducing moments. If a you're into Magic Girl Anime AND you're a horse girl (it's a bigger overlap then you would think), watch it & feel seen.

Both the unicorn (Amalthea) and Schmendric are immortal regardless of where they are, the animals in her forest gain a measure of magical longevity
'Robin Hood' is Schmendric's illusion, the unicorn doesn't use any. She appears as a normal horse to common folk, but uses other magic to have the horn be visible
She didn't know where to go, just wandering aimlessly for decades
Being turned human is basically a death sentence, unicorns are immortal, humans are not, and until the end of the movie, no one had succeeded in changing a unicorn back

I'm guessing Celestial Warlock 5 (your patron is the Unicorn which turned out to actually be your own reflection) so you can get Revivify to bring Lir back, and Glamour Bard 15 for lots of the things Unicorns do.

Something to note about the xounter spell stuff even without glibness jack of all trades and foresight means that you just have to roll an 11 when you have advantage to counter any spell
the catalogue of magical talking animals have incredible specimens from lemurs with a hand-tail you could use for bungee jumping (which could make a good build, Sir Tulok please?) or a magical unicorn with the power of INTIMIDATION!

The Last Unicorn is my favorite movie of all time and one of my favorite books of all time and it gets SO LITTLE ATTENTION!
Talk about going back in time... this was such a great story when I was a kid.
Sometimes it's better to have your friends hit your enemies for you. Never underestimate the support character that has full control of costume and set design.

It'd be pretty cool if you could do one for the Spy in Team Fortress 2. With the customization of his weapons and utility, I feel like you can make different variations to reflect said characters kit.
I love Spy as a character but it's pretty much just assassin rogue 17/any warlock 3 for invis and mask of many faces :|
The book the film is based on actually goes into way more detail about where Lir comes from. As well as showing an entire town near Haggard's Castle known as Hagsgate. Which was cut from the film, I think for time reasons. But I'm not terribly sure on that.

Now I want to play as an awakened shetland pony whose life goal is to become a unicorn. I can use the centaur race and have the party attach some sort of blade to his head for his horn.

(OKAY...it's not letting me post the entire thing I'm trying to post, so this will take a few posts.)
Well...time to do THIS...
As I mentioned in another comment, I actually made homebrew for playing as a Pokémon in 5e. Still in the rudimentary stages and needs some polishing, but they should work here. What I am going to do is take Tulok's build and see how it works for this character as a Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash. Please note this is just a thought experiment. Besides...why not see how Lady Amalphia works as an actual unicorn like creature, right?
Like before, we will be using the standard point array...problem IS, the rules call for the stats to be in a specific order due to "base stat rules". Roll for stats if you want...just make sure are from largest to smallest as follows...
DEX 15 - Representing Spd. Ponyta/Rapidash are very fast. They are sweepers, after all.
STR 14 - Representing Att. They are also PHYSICAL sweepers.
CHA 13 - Note that SpAtt and SpDef are tied, so we can pick and choose. CHA reps SpDef since many classes can use CHA to blunt some magic.
INT 12 - Representing SpAtt. They are a bit magical, after all.
WIS 10 - Representing Def, since WIS can be used to avoid damage. (Hello, Perception checks!)
CON 8 - Representing HP. Yeah, these things are glass cannons. Major nerf here.
A couple more for this one before we go to "race". Body type is Quadruped. This means it cannot use weapons, but can use barding of the type its class can use. It also gains the Strider ability, meaning its base speed is 20 + 10 times its DEX bonus, ignoring any negative bonus. Did I mention these things were fast? It also has a Quirk, which is something unique to the specific Pokémon. Radiant Mane allows Ponyta/Rapidash to light its mane as a free action, creating light in a 10 ft. radius for Ponyta and 30 ft. for Rapidash. It's a free Light spell.
Now, Pokémon don't have races...they have TYPES. Psychic type Pokémon are of Sound Mind and thus not only get an additional +1 to INT but also get advantage on all INT saves. They also have a Pathic Nature, meaning they can learn languages normally because they can speak them telepathically. Note that this is NOT the same as true Telepathy as everyone can hear them. Like other Pokémon, they CAN choose to learn to speak with mouth noises via the "Meowth That's Right" rule if they spend additional language slots per language. Once again, we'll choose Survival as skill of choice and Perception and Animal Handling for background. Note that Animal Handling for Pokémon is different as it will represent how they work with other animals and Pokémon. We'll also add +2 to CON and +1 to CHA and it will start with one of its Abilities. Run Away allows it to withdraw from combat without drawing attention or attacks of opportunity. You are also considered a Small creature for now, so keep those adjustments in mind.
(Part 2)
BARD 1 - We kick things off as a Bard, and since Bards use a D8 for HP, they gain a D10 for their PP, which is a pool for the energy used to use their specials...which we will get to in a bit. Performance, Persuasion, and Intimidation will be added as before. Yes...Pokémon can perform...and they can still use Bardic Inspiration! Always a plus. Sadly, Pokémon cannot use spells...because they get their special attacks instead! Ponyta use a D6 for physical and D4 for special...and what are known as "half-dice" (D3 and D2 respectively) for specials with a multiple of 10 but not 20. I can explain later if need be, but all damages listed will reflect this. Tackle costs 2PP and does a melee attack for 2D6. Growl costs 1PP and does a cute growl towards all enemies, who must make a CHA save at DC 10+Level+CHA, or their weapon attacks are at -1 damage. This does stack up to a -6. Tail Whip costs 3PP and very cutely wags its tail towards all enemies. Also a DC of 10+level+CHA, with failure meaning they take an additional +1 of damage during the battle. This also can stack to a +6. All Pokémon also start with a breed move. Double Kick costs 3PP and requires only one melee attack roll, but will hit twice for 3D3 damage per hit.
BARD 2 - Jack of all Trades is still available as is Song of Rest, thanks to Pathic Nature. For specials, Confusion costs 4PP and does 5D2 Psychic damage to a single target, who must make an INT save of 10+level+INT or become confused.
BARD 3 - We'll keep the Expertise in Performance and Persuasion. Being a Psychic type still helps with both. And while Pokémon don't normally go to college, we'll keep the College of Glamour...as Pokémon can still use Mantle of Inspiration and Enthralling Performance as abilities. I mean...have you seen the anime with how they perform in public? As for specials, Fairy Wind costs 3PP and does 2D4 Radiant damage to a single target.
BARD 4 - Instead of bumping CHA, Pokémon also have the option of bumping one score by 1 and taking any other available Abilities they have. So, we'll bump CON by 1, it needs the most help, and take the Pastel Veil ability. This prevents you and your party from being inflicted by poisons. Note that this doesn't prevent the initial damage, just the lingering stuff. For specials, Agility costs 3PP and allows the user to move up in initiative by 2, which can stack to a maximum of 6. Yes...this does mean you will move sooner in turn order, but this doesn't take effect until next turn.
BARD 5 - Font of Inspiration still applies for Bard Pokémon and for our new special, Psybeam costs 5PP and is a ranged attack on a single target for 3D4 damage with an INT save for 10+level+INT or be confused, just like with Confusion.
BARD 6 - Mantle of Majesty still applies for Pokémon, as they can make a sound that "feels" like a command to others...but Psychics can still telepathically give the command as normal. For the new special, Stomp costs 5PP and does 3d6 melee damage to a target. Target must also make a CON save at 20+level+STR or miss their next turn due to shock.
BARD 7 - Sadly, no spells...but a new special: Heal Pulse costs 7PP and targets an ally. This ally must then roll a number of the hit dice they use for their class equal to half their level rounded up and heal that much.
BARD 8 - You may now evolve to Rapidash at any time, and I say no time like the present. Please note, you will now become a Medium sized creature, so make sure to take off the Small barding first. Your physical die is now a D8 and your special die is now a D6. (D4 and D3 for the halves.) Make sure to change all damage for specials listed above to match. Speaking of, you gain three new specials. Quick Attack costs 3PP and does 2D8 melee to a target, and if announced at beginning of turn you can make this move at the start of the round via DM's discretion. Megahorn costs 7PP and does 6D8 piercing melee damage, but at a -3 to hit. Psycho Cut costs 5PP and does 7D4 slashing and psychic damage to a target, and can crit on a 19-20 instead of just a 20. You are also now a Fairy type along with being a Psychic type. This means you gain Support Expertise, where all specials which add a + of some kind to yourself and allies gain an additional +1 per use. You are also have a Dragonward, meaning you take half damage from what are considered "dragon" attacks and can gain evasion from breath weapons. As for the ability improvement, let's take another +1 on CON and since we are now fully evolved, we can take our Hidden Ability. Anticipation allows you to automatically know if your opponent has an attack which can do double damage to you. So if your opponent has metal weapons or has access to necrotic or poison damage, you will know...somehow.
BARD 9 - No spells, but you do get the special Take Down, which costs 5PP, has a -3 to hit, and does 9D4 melee damage...but you 1/4 of that damage (rounded down) as well. A bit risky for a glass cannon...but may be worth.
BARD 10 - We'll keep the Expertise in Intimidation and Animal Handling. Sadly, Magical Secrets are not available for obvious reasons. You do gain the special Dazzling Gleam which costs 7PP and does 4D6 radiant damage to all enemies, though.
BARD 11 - Sadly...no change here, unless you can convince your DM to give you a free TM or something.
BARD 12 - Let's get that CON up by +2. We need it. We also gain the special Psychic, which costs 7 PP and does 9D3 to a single target. Target must make a CHA save at 10+level+INT or take an additional +1 from spells and special attacks. This does stack to +6.
BARD 13 - No spells...but a new special! Healing Wish costs 7PP and allows the user to reduce itself to 0 HP to fully heal a target and remove any adverse conditions. User is not considered dead and does not have to make death saves, but is considered out of commission until healed.
BARD 14 - Unbreakable Majesty still works for Pokémon. I mean...who would want to hurt a Galarian Rapidash?
BARD 15 - Sadly...no spells. Again...beg DM for TM? Puppy dog eyes and THE LIP may be necessary.
BARD 16 - +2 to CON again, we need it.
BARD 17 & 18 - Again, no spells or magical secrets. See above regarding begging the DM.
BARD 19 - Now...Tulok suggests the Mobile feat, but I am going to trade that for the Tough feat to get our HP up. The Strider ability from before should handle the need for speed...even though that's a different game.
BARD 20 - And we get Superior Inspiration for our capstone.
Now that we're done, let's see what's changed.
PROS: More attack options with piercing, blunt, slashing, radiant, and psychic damage available. We are also still very mobile with an enhanced base speed. And hey...your character is an actual unicorn instead of a horny Centaur!
CONS: Yeah...we got a major nerf in CON and CHA, which could hurt. A lack of spells and magical secrets also gives us fewer support options. Also...Bard works best with Pokémon that know sound and dance based abilities as they get a boost to those, so Rapidash does not make for as good a Bard as other Pokémon could.
But hey...use this to create an actual unicorn or even create a new unicorn like mob for your players to meet! Maybe make one Shiny! I heard those are quite the Rarity...

Since Alan Wake 2 finally comes out this year. I would love to see a build for either Alan himself who fights creatures made out of darkness brought to life accidently by his own ability which is imagination-manipulation aka what he ever thinks up comes to life, and his weapons for fighting them are a flashlight and other light bringing objects like flashbangs, flares, and a flare gun due to their weakness to Light and various firearms and explosives once the light destroys their shield of darkness protecting them.
Or the lead protagonist of Control the new Director of the FBC who has saved the Federal Bureau of Control on 3 occasions from the malevolent corrupting entity known as The Hiss Jesse Faden who thanks her psychic powers being granted to her by a spirit named Polaris after it attached itself to her due to being in the middle of a Altered World Event also known as a AWE in her hometown in Maine and armed with her abilities a close range psychic explosion of kinetic energy, Launch which is basically Telekinesis aka picking stuff up or enemies and launching them including later missiles and grenades thrown and launched at her, Evade which lets her dodge enemy attacks and obstacles at superhuman speed, Shield which allows her to create out a shield of stuff that she picks up with telekinesis and later on serve as a melee attack when she dodges via Shield Rush, Seize which lets her take control of weakened enemies, Levitation which allows her to use her psychic energy to fly and later enhanced for a powerful psychic-powered ground pound, and Shape which allows her to manipulate Crystals via either destroying them, and creating them to serve as platforms and spears that come out of the ground to skewer enemies, and the Service Weapon which is a shapeshifting firearm which has five forms Grip which is a semi-automatic pistol, Spin which is a handheld sub-machine gun, Shatter which is a shotgun, Pierce which is a handheld fusion of a high-powered sniper rifle and a railcannon, and Charge which is a handheld rocket launcher that doesn't use typical ammo but recharges on it's own.
