How to Play Princess Luna in Dungeons & Dragons (My Little Pony Build for D&D 5e)

- Today we have a build for Princess Luna from My Little Pony Friendship is magic in Dungeons & Dragons. If you want to take the moon to your next campaign in D&D 5e, this is how you do it.

You know, the Mane 6 could really be portrayed as an all-bard party...just different builds on the same theme.
Applejack and rainbow dash strike me as martials tbh focused on str and dex respectively, applejack is probably a fighter cause it’s basic, rainbow dash is a bit harder to guess but probably rogue, flutter shy is definitely a Druid, Rarity is definitely some sorcerer and twilight is definitely a Wizard. The only one I see as a bard is probably Pinkie.
A webcomic called 'Friendships is Dragons' portrays them another way. Druid for FS, Fighter for AJ, and Bard for Pinkie, sure. But Wizard for Twilight, Barbarian for RD, and Rogue for Rarity.
Twilight'll need to spec three levels into Ranger to become a drakewarden.
@@ninjakirby777 Considering how much RD focuses on mobility, she's probably multi-classed into Monk. She is a Black Belt, in universe, after all.

Fluttershy is most definitely a druid, specifically of the circle of the shepherd
Twilight is a wizard, and pinkie is definitely a bard, though with Pinkie I'd multiclass some barbarian and sorcerer levels (barbarian for pinkie-sense, I mean danger sense) and sorcerer for wild magic
Rarity is a full sorcerer tho

We've been asking for this for so long. Glad to see the start of a great run of builds.
Cute build! The only thing I would have done differently is getting one level of Sorcerer (Shadow Magic) instead of Warlock. Would have being a lot more thematic if you ask me to get darkvision and Strenght of the Grave feature for the immortal theme. But otherwise, it's really on theme! :)
There is also the Lunar Sorcerer to consider, but I'm not sure how good that is, as I've never gotten around to really looking into it.
One of Luna’s episodes legit helped me make a therapy breakthrough. Such a lovely character.
The whole series has been therapy for me
After this many Transformers builds this was only a matter of time.
By the way, the only way you could "build" Pinkie Pie is to be the DM, make whatever the hell you want happen rules be damned, but make sure it's still fun and entertaining.
I don't know, Creation Bard could take a pretty good crack at it.

Honestly I was expecting Centaur/ Custom Lineage. And going with Either Cleric: Twilight Domain & Sorcerer: Lunar Sorcery multiclass or Bard: College of Lore & Sorcerer: Lunar Sorcery multiclass
I think I'd make celestia a level 20 light cleric. get the sun at level 3, the rest is just fiery gravy.
Love this build, and it reminded me that MLP have their own TTRPG.

I half expected Twilight or Celestia to be first, honestly. They are more of a “poster child” for the franchise than Luna.
Luna, however, is Best Princess, so I’m not displeased.

Also, fitting Bard. Luna is the Alicorn of night, dreams, and stories. So she easily fits the role.
Also, she's very shouty, with the Royal Canterlot Voice, so the high charisma is warranted.

The restraint necessary to put "Plenty of HP" instead of "Healthy as a Horse" in Pros was very impressive.
You might not need Wish for the day to day movement of the moon, but I'd say "Make it nighttime forever and have the sun never rise again" falls into Wish territory.

The always magical land of Equestria grant us many surprises on its possibilities, but while it has hippos, horses, cats, gryphons and such, it still misses Lemurs? that is something at least we can fix in the TTRPG realm with a Tangle the lemur build, right Sir Tulok? please?
Princess "Selena" Luna is the younger ruler of the realm full of gum bean ponies, who became jealous of the love everyone granted to her sister, embracing a dark presence of insecurity she turned into the wicked Nightmare moon to impose an eternal night in it world, but after being sealed in the moon and saved with the power of friendship she has become a watcher of dreams while trying to cope to her past mistakes… which we will deal in ONE episode because we only care on selling toys, right Hasbro?
When I bring Luna to the table, the fun will be doubled!

I feel like rather than a centaur we could have literally just used a unicorn with wings or a pegasus with magic and gone from there. Pretty sure they're intelligent enough on their own to think and speak but we can apply the standard point array regardless.
This is based from the official 5e DnD handbook with all of its expansions. Pretty sure that he's working vanilla and chose centaur as the closest option.

I wish that pegataurs from the expanded monster manuals was a race. Only because it would make the build a little more interesting.
The Two Sisters are either angelic beings or normies whose parents made a pact with an eldritch cosmic entity, depending on which origin story you’re a fan of. I’m not the most familiar with the Warlock class but I don’t recall any of them getting wings or “indefinite at-will flight.” If you go the “humanized” route you can justify the Aasimar that gets wings if you go the “humanized” route though.

Either Leo Valdez from Heroes of Olympus or - on a completely different note - Mr Todd from Peter Rabbit on CBeebies (just thought that would be fun) or - on another completely different note - Namor from the MCU.
Rather than call ponies humanoid, I would probably rename "humanoid" into something more suitable. Maybe "equestrian"? Or just "intelligent", to get around the two-legged exceptions. Would take some work to get perfect, so it includes all relevant people, but not anyone else.

As someone who already played a 19Bard/1Warlock I can highly recommend this setup!

you know i intially thought if you ever did an mlp build,you'd start with twilight sparkle,but twilight's powers make her a NIGHTMARE to build
Lunar Sorcerer makes as much sense as the warlock dip and is a better choice overall from an optimizing standpoint You get everything that you get from warlock dip except the healing light and at that point you obviously don't need to worry about that.

@@thecamarrow02 Twilight was a scribe wizard / unity cleric, and Rainbow was a dragon monk / storm sorcerer.
There's an entire 5e homebrew PDF called Planeshift: Equestria. It has a lot of MLP races and subclasses.
Dogs cannot talk in mlp except for Diamond Dogs.
All ponies talk... and also cows.

Anyway, if centers can’t have horns. I would add a in a repair and flavor that has a horn a little bit of my personal bias towards weapons, but the horn is there.

Finally! Not only a My Little Pony Build but it's one of the best characters from that show.
I've been wanting to make a Luna themed character for a while now. I love this build for her a ton but i feel like Luna would be more fitting as an NPC although this works for her if you want to play as Luna after being freed from her Nightmare Moon persona. However some ideas I have themed around our favorite pony princess of the night, dreams, stories and the moon would be:
1. A Celestial Warlock where you were lost in the Everfree Forest one night. Surrounded by the sounds and threat of monsters while lost in the darkness with seemingly no escape, you prayed to the moon afraid and terrified. Until standing before you was a beautiful celestial horse/angel whose mane flowed & twinkled like stars in the night. She told you to not be afraid of the night and offered to help in exchange to share the beauty of the night with others. You accepted and she lead you to safety, using the music that her creatures of the night sang to find your way.
2. A Lunar Sorcerer who is a great grandchild of a princess of the night, while your magic can be beautiful however, there is also the thought of being why many fear the dark just like your ancestor. The question you must ask and answer, is which legacy you will uphold?
I'm curious if you had a specific reason for not going for twighlight cleric, just cuz I think that's the obvious choice lol. You loose out on wish tho, but gain a calling your God or whatever it is that could in theory move the moon. Was it mostly down to the spell list?
I mean its neat you did this but um...theirs legit already a modual for ponies, its based off pathfinder, is called ponyfinder fittingly enough soooo yeah...bit late to that party but i appreciate the effort you put in to makeing it work with dnd 5e
While this isn't RAW, as a DM I would've ruled that the Bard could cast Alter Gravity as a 9th level spell and move the moon that way. And it keeps the theme because altering gravity is what the moon does.
Eh...I always liked Princess Celestia more. I feel like she understands the weight of responsibility better, and even though she HAD to ABSOLUTELY DESPISE the fact that the ponies turned the day that her sister tried to kill her into a celebration of her sister being banished, she didn't immediately burn everything and everyone to cinders.

Honestly could have done straight warlock on this one. Comics lore revealed that moving the sun and moon is just a unique spell that alicorns can naturally do.
