7:17 Gentle reminder that Abjuration's Arcane Ward does not "refresh" on every spell cast, it just regains hp equal to 2x the level of a cast abjuration spell. (So AoA gives you 2/4/6/8/10/12/14/16/18 Arcane Ward "HP" at each spell level).

I've actually seen a player do this, he'd let his Arcane Ward burn down to 0 HP so he wouldn't "waste spell slots on just recharging it a little bit". The deep gnome gets the feat Svirfneblin magic which gives access to the nondetection spell to be cast at will. It's a 3rd level spell so it recharges the ward even faster and you don't need to multiclass. You also get a few other spells once per long rest.

3:36 I think that depends on what the poison is. If it's a natural poison (i.e. a virus or bacteria) that causes an illness or disease, then being poisoned is an inevitability. In that case, it makes sense that Psychic-types are super-effective against Poison-types because the brain works with the immune system to eliminate the pathogens in the body. It's also why so many Bug-types are part-Poison; think of how many bugs are vectors for different illnesses (e.g. malaria, West Nile virus, Lyme disease).

    Just a nitpick, but
"While the ward has 0 hit points, it can't absorb damage, but its magic remains. Whenever you cast an abjuration spell of 1st level or higher, the ward regains a number of hit points equal to twice the level of the spell."
You kept saying "refreshing" it, which implies it gets all of that back.

I think the problem is that many people only remember the first paragraph of Arcane Ward and forget the rest of it. It's easy to see how people might think the Ward is and "on or off" ability, where if it's "off" and you cast an Abjuration spell it activates the Ward, when it reaches 0 HP the Ward deactivates completely, and casting an Abjuration spell _while_ it's still "on" regenerates it like it says in the ability description. I've actually seen a player do this, he'd let his Arcane Ward burn down to 0 HP so he wouldn't "waste spell slots on just recharging it a little bit". He was really disappointed when I had him reread it.

For some more spells to suggest.
Blade Ward as a miniature Protect. Sadly it doesn't really increase your ward like I thought at first but it's still nice.
Vampiric Touch is a decently nice concentration spell to go on the offensive with, since it's an offensive option that also makes your THP barrier even bigger.
Life Transference is.. idk if temporary hit points or arcane ward do anything to this but if it does you can basically hand out HP for free. also another thing to add onto vampiric touch,

Woba-fett is a bounty hunter that... (Wait wrong char) wobuffet is that one pokemon you see at first glance and think "this is a weird one" and it still manage to become a beloved mascot on its own... With the power to smack back gods in the face if they don't adapt to more pacifist ways of the chill punching bag.
With how unorthodox characters Tulok manage to make is there doubt why I'm so enthusiastic on the idea of him making a Tangle the lemur build? (Btw Sr Tulok please) oddly both have quite the special tails, although he is more mysterious and shy about it.

This is an excellent build and embodies the character really well.
For anyone who wants to use this build but optimize a little bit further, take blade ward as a cantrip and absorb elements as a spell. Both of these spells give you temporary resistance to damage you take which means your ward hp and armor hp are extended further.

If you cant be a slime, id argue Tiefling, as the charisma and intelligence bonus is helpful, and if your DM allows Xanathars Race Feats, then Flames of phleglethos could be a decent early game effect to help pile on a d4 to melee attackers, and you can use something like greenflame blade to activate it, and Infernal Constitution gives extra resistances, and a Con bump.

...Why do I want to try this build so badly? Oh my lord, I just need to come up with a backstory to justify this kind of character! A Warlock fulfilled someone's wish to not feel pain, but they also removed their sense of touch, taste, and smell. The character is studying Wizard magic to reverse the curse and puts themselves in harms way as a means of experimentation.

I wonder how Tulok would build Godzilla. He already has a druid subclass similar to this concept, but I'm curious if it's possible to get really close to Goji's abilities

  • @WereDictionary
    @WereDictionary Год назад

I dont know if this was a thing when the video was made but if you get a level in Clockwork Soul Sorcerer, the Clockwork Magic feature lets you trade your subclass spells for any spell of equal level that is on the wizard, sorcerer or warlock spell list and is an abjuration or transformation spell.
Armor of Agathys is an abjuration spell, so you can replace your warlock level with CSS and get Restore Order/Safeguard which lets you cancel advantage/disadvantage on any roll within 60 feet of you proficiency bonus times per day.
CSS doesnt impede your spell progression as a wizard, you dont have to deal with the pact magic spell slot and Restore Order is hands down a better feature than anything a patron can get you for a single level in Warlock.
This does lose your trainer/patron but I guess if you want to play a wild Wobbuffet, this is how.
