- Today we have a build for Baymax from Big Hero Six in Dungeons & Dragons! Finally we have a healer for D&D 5e, but this healthcare companion is also a pretty solid tank.

Baymax ia an interesting example of a Robot character who just follows his programming. No eccentricities, no growth, and every time he says something that sounds profound it turns out he's being very literal.
And yet he's so darn lovable.
I think that's part of why he works.
He is a very straightforward character, and then factor in he's programmed to be supportive and helpful makes him and his straightforwardness endearing.
The lovability comes from the fact that Tadashi was the one that programmed him. Baymax’s actions represent an echo of Tadashi and what Tadashi wanted. He was able to leave something behind that would be there for his brother when he couldn’t and that represented all of what he valued most in life. Baymax is the purest representation of everything good in Tadashi.
Edit: Baymax is Tadashi’s dying wish for his brother.
During a Curse of Strahd campaign I was a Warforged Life Domain Cleric with a couple of levels in fighter. It wasn't until the campaign was finished that someone pointed out I had basically made Baymax. Which is doubly funny because I based his personality on Baymax, but never connected the fact that my choice of classes was also pretty Baymax-like
Extra ironic as the famous Baymax radically different from his origins. (Lot people don't know he was in comic before the Disney movie)
@@apex2000 yeah, I haven't read any of his appearances but wasn't he more like a monster?
I built a peace domain warforged, and I was excitedly explaining it to my wife, and she stops me to say: “so he’s BayMax?” Lol excited to see how close this is
I had never considered the possibility of calling baymax a himbo but wow does it actually fit very well
Its funny, but I think in the Big Hero 6 The series, (Think thats what the show was called) Baymax was given a sword and an overdrive mode (Can't remember if the sword was ONLY during overdrive or not) so him being a smiting paladin IS a thing Baymax can do if you consider the show
Overdrive mode would overclock Baymax and transform his wings into a lazer-greatsword, so while only in overdrive I'd still use a greatsword if playing this build
Probably my favourite pure robot character, he doesn't feel nor can he replicate them, but he still comes out wholesome
He makes us feel enough to more than cover any “lack” of emotions
Was really glad to see Warding Bond went into this build, as that was such a perfect spell to include for the "protect my friend" kind of character.
For a “caring healer”, a Ranger could use every spell slot before a long rest completes on Goodberries, and then flavor it as them packing lunches for the party for the day. That spell is absolutely busted for out of combat healing (especially with a one-level dip into Life Domain Cleric).
this is the cutest shit ive ever heard. as a note i dont think RAW/RAI you can stack multiple instances of the same spell. ie 2 casts of goodberry still yields 10 total berries, not 20. the design intent stopping things like contingency stacking, or aid stacking for infinite HP.
however i dont see why a DM wouldnt allow for goodberry stacking as long as theres a conversation about it!
@@dudesayswhat1011 The spell doesn’t say anything about being limited to a single cast, and (to my knowledge) Jeremy Crawford hasn’t said that it’s limited.
So I played a Life Domain/Ranger chef, and I tried to do something like that but the GM said "No you HAVE to use the berries" we compromised and my character made jams out of the berries. The party started to prefer them over low tier healing potions because like +10hp per serving of jam was more reliable then the 2d4+2
Could you sling a good berry into someone’s mouth?
I was absolutely expecting a warforged armorer artificer using artificer healing and the armorer attacks.
Yeah same. Baymax provides help, mental support, and diagnosis, but no medication or first aid past a defibrillator. So basically low healing but high medicine skill. Plus rocket fists at lvl14 come on!!
Presumably you’ll have an artificer in the party. I’m sure they can make a weapon resembling a fist.
Honestly, most of Big Hero 6 are artificers.
Hiro: Battle Smith
Honey Lemon: Alchemist
Wasabi and Gogo: probably Armorers
I would say Fred is technically a bard, but one of the others put an infusion or two on his suit.
@@michaelbryant3640 Hiro took one for the team and gave Fred his Spell-Storing item with Scorching Ray
Exactly, that’s why I presumed it
@@hydrastuff8029 and made boots of jumping for him
The fun part about Enlarge/Reduce is not in the spell info but the DMG.
On page 278 you find info on Large weapons. The deal DOUBLE the Weapon Die. So this (as per RAW) would stack with E/R's 1d4 bonus.
Mmmmm but wouldnt you need to find a large weapon? Idk if the spell enlarges your weapon too.
Character suggestion: Danny Phantom
Double down on the Ghost powers with Phantom Rogue and Undead Warlock, he can even travel to the ghost zone without a gate and lots of green blasts
... Now I really wanna see this...
I guess 14 levels of artificer was too far to go to get arcane propulsion arm. Now if Hiro is an artificer and makes it for Baymax....
Redemption Paladin has been one of the most fun/challenging classes I've RP'd in 5e, so I'm glad to see it getting repped here
4:09 Not necessarily, funnily enough, Baymax in Big Hero 6: The Series has a super form where his wings turn into a big greatsword, and if that doesn't scream paladin I don't know what does. Baymax also gets physically larger when he uses this form, so I guess that's also enlarge/reduce.
Awesome build, Baymax should be a welcome part to any and all parties, who wouldn't want him on their team?
"Big Himbo Energy"
First time hearing this variation. Definitely gonna use it!
Divine Smite = Rocket Fists Obviously. As it only a weapon he has in his armoured form. So Gauntlet (or Knuckle Duster or Small Hammer)
My prediction: Armorer Artificer and Life Cleric with either a dip into Monk for martial arts or Fighter for Unarmed Fighting style.
Armorer artificers get to punch without monk or fighter
Hopefully we will see Qui-Gon Jinn next! 🙏
Apart from him being an awesome character, I'm interested in the build because he should have high wisdom and force abilities don't come from divine magic or pure monk levels.
Pretty sure there are some Cleric subclasses that would fit. He mainly just needs some good divination magic. Although Rangers also use widom. Maybe a few levels in that could work.
Psi Warrior Fighter is THE Jedi subclass. Probably with some War Cleric sprinkled in, if anything.
@@szayelapporograntz3276 But that's why it's fun making a Jedi that isn't a Psi Warrior.
Paladins, Valor Bards, Eldritch Knights, Hexblades etc.
As an example, I'm currently in a Star Wars campaign using Mage Hand Press's "Dark Matter" setting for 5E. We started at level 8, and my girlfriend and I, independently from one another, both built Jedi by being Variant Humans with the Telekinetic feat, Acolyte background, and 4 levels in Kensei monk, then I'm going the rest of the way as Bladesinger wizard while she's going War cleric. Before settling on Bladesinger I had originally considered Sword bard. Neither of us even bothered with Psi Warrior or Soulknife.
Another option is starting with 3 levels in Artificer for Battle Smith's Battle Ready so you can use Intelligence for attack rolls, then going the rest of the way as a Bladesinger for a SAD build kind of like a spellcaster version of the Hexblade Paladin. As a bonus, you have a Droid companion as your Steel Defender.
@@arcticbanana66 Those are interesting options! Cheers, mate! 👍
Schaffrillas Productions: *seething*
Love a good KH reference. Convinced that the goopy other dimension in the movie is the Gummi ship Space from the games
This was an amazing little build. All the healing (with some fighting too).
Out of curiosity I noticed you keep saying you need custom lineage to be small, but can’t most races be small now thanks to mordekainens multiverse? I swear I saw that in there
Tulok you madman, I love it
I cannot tell you how excited I am for this
Fully expected Armorer, but I guess Hiro is the brains of the operation
Excelente vídeo como siempre. Saludos desde Colombia.
Omw to a doctor's appointment and got this notification, surprised I'm so early!
I NEED A HONEYLEMON VIDEO NEXT!!!!
This build just cries out to be part 1 of a 2 part build since half of Baymax's power comes from the suit anyways. Baymax's innate strength really doesn't need to be any stronger than what is needed to carry a human up a flight of stairs. With 14 levels of artificer, Hero can provide Baymax with a belt of hill giant strength and more importantly, propulsion armor, now Baymax's fists are weapons that he can smite with and can blast them at range and return them.
Today I learned that Tulok really wants Baymax to wield a hammer. I'm down for this change.
A Pally Healer....quite possibly the greatest PC build I have ever seen
Paladins are great healers because optimally you are just giving 1hp at a time to get someone up from zero, so you get 5 rezzes per pally level. You can also lay on hands and healing word in the same turn.
I have never thought of a Pally Healer....only Tanks and smiters
It isn't a Tulok video without a Kingdom Hearts reference
I love Baymax!
Warforged, monk, artificer, with the healer feat
“Hello, I am Morbius. Your personal Morbin’ companion.”
Could maybe even use Tavern Brawler or something instead of Fighting Initiate and use gauntlets of some kind as improvised weapons so you can smite and get extra damage from Enlarge/Reduce?
When you mentioned there not being many healers in media, my mind went straight to Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece, and then I realised you haven't done any One Piece builds yet. Any chance of those? The Straw Hats already feel a little like a DnD party
Qui-Gon Jinn has my vote! And got a suggestion, a Stranger Things suggestion... Jason Carver: Variant Human with the Athlete background, 13th level Fighter Banneret and 7th level Paladin Oath of Glory.
Get the Inspiring Leader feat to be extra team captain, and if you successfully max out your charisma and make sure you’re proficient with Persuasion skill, the Banneret feature Royal Envoy will get you at least a +16 to any Persuasion roll!
Add to that Aura of Alacrity, Blessed Warrior fighting style to grant you some handy cantrips like Guidance and Resistance, and the Banneret Rallying Cry, you can lead a mob like nobody’s business. The Athlete feat on top of being and Athlete, and the Peerless Athlete Channel Divinity, will likewise ensure you lead your team to state championships! Buuut mostly you should stick to being the exceptionally durable, if punchable, face of your party.
Although a bit MAD, the monk has a subclass (unofficial) which can make its unarmed strikes count as (adamantine) weapons that deal an upgraded damage (1d4 -> 1d6)
Paladin still doesn't have unarmed fighting style... but you could
Okay, pre-vid prediction: warforged life cleric/valor bard/champion fighter with unarmed fighting style. It might seem MAD at first, but you only need 1 level of cleric to get the life benefit, and that only requires 13 WIS. From there, 12 levels of valor bard gets you magic secrets for Flight, as well as plenty of bard-accessible healing spells, and 7 levels of champion gets you the remaining ABIs to cap off CHA and STR. This is my most detailed prediction, and I'm willing to bet my most wrong.
On the subject of Disney characters, it might be fun to see you build Dave and his family from Dave the Barbarian. I've often wondered what kind of Barbarian Dave could be; also, a Barbarian with Charisma as, their dump stat and have average or above average Int is kind of amusing to see; Daves's own sisters called him a dork to a villain, let that sink for a moment; Uncle Oswidge would probably be a Wild Magic Sorcerer; he flubs more than he gets them right; Figuring what Fang and Candy would be is a bit harder. Also, Fang would probably cap out at level 5 or 6.
I took some stuff from unofficial sources. Juggernaut Warforged Oath of Heroism Paladin/Celestial Warlock (Pact of the Blade), very fun build actually, healing, lasers, laser sword, flight, punch, helping, intimidating, and the Combat Medic background so driving.
Glorious
The fact I completely understood the end of the video just shows I’ve too many brain cells dedicated to Kingdom Hearts lore.
I thought for SURE this would be a Way of Mercy Monk that punches to heal!
While it isn't in character, I'd make this redemption paladin 17/armorer Artificer 3, since you're a warforge you can just keep your special armor on at all times, and if you choose the guardian model you can get temp HP to soften the damage you're taking for your friends + you can smite with punches and be a better tank by throwing disadvantage on whoever you want
I know dropping cleric is bad, and not flying is a problem for a Baymax build, but it's still fun for being a big healer guy kool aid man-ing through a wall
Admittedly I'd love to see how to build T-103 Tyrant (Mr X) or Nemesis both from the Resident Evil series
Honey Lemon next! She's my favorite!
Also, uh-sklee-pee-us
Give your staff two snakes and wings, because caduceus is easier to pronounce
Baymax's red armor has wings and jet boots, but the UA only came out like today so I'm not expecting Glitchling. Would be a decent option tho
What ua?
@@runedoom wonders of the multiverse. It redid those giant themed feats from earlier, has some card themed spells, the Glitchling race, and a new fate domain for Clerics
Is it a bird? A plane? A marshmallow? No matter that! we have been granted by Sr Tulok an icon of care, one who knows on a scale of one to ten, how to rate my tangle the lemur build needs (it's eleven btw, Sr Tulok please!)
Baymax is here to help so many people, and kick the bad guys, all in a easy to save and portable inflatable case, only full of selflessness, caring, and extremely devote medic morals, he might now also keep people from harm as a hero, but when you are in the work line to keep everyone healthy the talent of flight certainly make you a better care provider.
The only thing Baymax is missing is fur, and he'd be a big ol teddy bear :3
*sees the stats at the beginning*
OOH WE'RE MAKING A PALADIN
Speaking of ice scholar you should make vexen.
WOW! I did NOT expect that build! Good build, way better then the one I attempted! Funny, I also gave Baymax the Warding Bond spell in my own build, fitting to protect Hiro in a fight. Two small nitpicks though: he only fly with Hiro's armor so instead giving him 16 levels of Paladin would fit for another stat boost. I would also have picked Locate Creature for the scanner instead of Stoneskin, more flavorful if you ask me. But again, those are minor nitpicks. EDIT: corrected a grammar mistake.
That "no unarmed Smites" is so ridiculous. Ignored that one always.
Not a patron, but goddamn I hope that Cad Bane wins over (lightsaber character #7). Dual-wielding pistols, a flamethrower, rocket boots, maybe even a robot buddy to throw under the bus whenever possible?
Use gauntlets as improvised weapons since he does have them
(Any/all)
Idk where to put this weird idea that I just came up with (while being around baymax) that when baymax was getting his armor in the movie the entire gag of it being hard to get on, why not program(its been a minute so i cant remember the kid's name) him to deflate enough to put it on. And I know it was all for the gag and it was still great, but it would gave helped lol
instead of a Hammer go with a Cestus, Bonous Damage to your Unarmed and counts as a Weapon when you need it to.
Cestus don't officially exist in 5e tho, so I guess you could just reflavor a warhammer as a punch?
This makes me want to play a high level healer character...
Paladin was ruined for me as a DM but I legit love Baymax and this build lmao
I've played Kingdom Hearts, and even I failed to process that ending without listening to it twice.
To quote: "I am not fast."
Can you please do Jaqen H'gar the Faceless Assassin from Game of Thrones.
Would a lvl 1 fighter dip be better than the feat?
I want to play a warforged cleric so bad it’s such a dumb stupid fun character
Pre watch guess. Warforged life cleric bard multiclass
What would Baymax’s alignment be? He would never kill but I’m not sure if he’s lawful good because I’m not sure if alignment includes robot programming.
modrons are considered lawful neutral, and they are robots programmed by Mechanus. so id say lawful good works for baymax
Don't holy soulys get an extra spell like cure wounds or bless?
rod of az - clep - ee - us. but that shit made me fucking snort, so thanks for that 🤣
Y'know, it's quite a shame that there isn't an official big marshmallow robot race in 5e and only a dumb metal robot instead. Jeremy Crawford (yes, him specifically, he is the only person who works on 5e) needs to take what the people truly want into consideration.
And of course this is sarcasm, same as asking Tulok to make specific builds, we can't expect every thing we want to end up in 5e. If you want something, why not make it yourself? Homebrew is great.
For more of a self healing tank, Jesse Faden is always an option
A _sclep_ i us
I know, 'sclep' is a bit of a car-crash
So. In all seriousness. Does anyone know what the song is our boy uses in all his videos? I really need it for background music when I do my day to day DnD stuff.
It wouldn't necessarily work mechanically, but thematically, Baymax should have 8 WIS and 13 INT. He knows a lot, but doesn't really understands events or how he should act in them beyond his script.
Should do Bahubali from the film Bahubali the begining and bahubali the conclusion.
Qui Gon or Cad Bane? Why not Kyle Katarn?
Hiro build? Hm. Armourer Artificer (mostly)
'healthcare doesn't need to be sneaky" the supreme court would beg to differ. Sadly.
The staff keeper's name is pronounced "As-Klee-Pee-Us"
Do Yoko kurama from yu yu hakusho plz
Honestly surprised you did not beeline straight for artificer for Arcane Propulsion Arm & Winged Boots.
They are cool pieces of equipment Hiro gives you...
That'd mean Hiro is the Artificer in the party distributing items haha
TL;DR for this build -
Play Beymax if you want to heal *and* fight just good enough to be bad(NOT USELESS) at fighting.
Y’know… speaking of mechanical men, it’d be really cool to see Juzo Inui from No Guns Life as a D&D character
The problem with Baymax's stat build is that there is an incongruity with Baymax's character and the way stats work in D&D. Baymax is far from stupid - he knows a lot about biology and can conduct research very quickly and that tends towards INT, meanwhile being a highly-literal robot with little capacity to interpret sarcasm and single-minded obsession with his tasks to the detriment of his environmental awareness suggests low WIS. Problem is, Medicine is his key skill, and in 5e that's a WIS skill not an INT one.
Did he say what class this was???
Yes.
15 Levels of Oath of Devotion Paladin.
5 Levels of Divine Soul Sorcerer.
I don't know where san fransokyo is but it's pretty obvious they have better healthcare than the united states. I mean, just look at baymax. I would feel significantly more comfortable in the hospital if it was baymax forcefully restraining me instead of scary humans.
dear jeremy crawford: as a cool dm, I will let my players divine smite headbutt someone in the face and there is *nothing* you can do about it
Hell yeah
But the kobold said I shouldn't heal! /s
First. Calling Warforged or Custom Linage Life Cleric/Devotion Paladin.
Called Warforged Paladin at least. Redemption/Holy Souly? That’s interesting.
Here’s a character idea and I know that the game just launched today, but, the Cat from the PS4/PS5 game Stray. My guess now is Monsters of the Multiverse Tabaxi Monk/Artificer.
So basically Baymax is one of the most powerful classes in the game. 😂 Got it
Pardon while I brag about knowing this. The Rod you wanted to mention is Ask-lep-ee-us. Asclepius. Mythical Greek Doctor so talented he could resurrect the dead.
Sound balance my guy. Had to max out the volume on this and got jump scared but the ads.
A homebrew weapon i see a lot, is spiked gauntlets. Its a 1d6 bludgeoning weapon that uses strength. But Tulok doesn't use homebrew cause he is awesome
So since the cast of Miraculous Ladybug gets their power from divine beings, would they be clerics or warlocks?
Can someone in the Patreon put Vash the Stampede on the board?
