From Washington State. 🇺🇲 Stumbled across your Furniture Repair channel while trying to figure out how to fix an outdoor chair I bought and assembled from a kit. I follow Paul Sellers and Pask Makes channels, and now yours. Y'all will keep me busy for years, and my wife exasperated.
Caught your furniture repair and enjoyed it and moved over here when you mentioned it. I like your straight-forward, no thrills approach, just like you were teaching one-on-one. Nicely done.
Looks amazing Scott. Well done. I liked your tip about the chiseling grain technique and also the self centering drill bit. I got to get one of those. That's the point where I usually screw up. Thanks for sharing
You're welcome. Yes, I've messed up hinge screw locations before so I LOVE these self centering bits. There's an Amazon link in the video description if you want to buy them online. Scott
Evening Scott, David here from the UK. Once again, you show us the importance of working with the wood, not against it. I love the sympathy and harmony with the materials and tools that you show on each project, even though your customers taste and mine differ substantially. Normally you emphasize the importance of clamping for successful glue joints, but I didn't see any clamping on the trim and decorative mouldings. Did I miss something? Keep up the good work!
Hi David. Thanks for your comment. You're right, I do emphasize the importance of clamping when using glue. The decorative mouldings won't be subject to any stresses and the amount of surface area is sufficient that I'm confident these pieces won't move. It was a judgement call based on experience. I hope that answers your question. Scott 🇨🇦
Love the tip about the grain in the wood when doing the hinge, put up a lot of doors, could not get it right, and bought a router just for the hinges. Thanks a lot, from Toronto, Canada
Faroe Islands 🇫🇴. Don't expect North Americans to know where that is (though I have been surprised). It's an archipelago sort of between Scotland, Norway and Iceland. And no, we're not Danish. It's just historical coincidance that we ended up with Denmark as our representative in the UN
Greg craftsmanship and attention to detail. Ray from USA 🇺🇸
