- Unboxing the OnePlus 12 with a one week review of this global smartphone, including a camera test, gaming performance, battery life and beyond. Is the OnePlus 12 a worthy purchase in the UK, or should you grab another flagship phone like the Samsung Galaxy S24 or iPhone 15 Pro?
Well, I love pretty much every aspect of this mobile, including that upgraded camera tech. You can shoot good looking pictures with the OnePlus 12 at any time of day, while the video chops are also respectable. Likewise, this global smartphone can smash through games like Genshin Impact, on higher graphics.
I've been testing the OnePlus 12 as my full-time phone now and the everyday Oxygen OS experience is also satisfying. Love those mental health features when life gets busy! Plus the battery life is among the best of any smartphones I've tested up to 2024, with fast charging - something missing from the Samsung Galaxy S24.

So did I - it was so minor upgrade upgrade to my previous 7T Pro I felt like I was scammed. I felt pretty happy getting rid of it for Fold5.

Me too, using 8t, need an upgrade now...big size difference from 8t to 24ultra or op12..pixel 8pro would have been nice but it's not a finished phone for me...gonna take a bit of time I think

@TechSpurt is the only reviewer I watch religiously. And I'm not even in the market for a new phone. Just love his patter and frankly, I got tired very quickly of the other reviewers, who are diehard Apple fanboys and lifetime members of the iCult.
Loving this OnePlus 12, like a slap in the face and a tug on my ear from a jealous lover this phone has stopped me drooling over the Samsung S24 ultra

I just bought two OnePlus 12's yesterday. We are using OnePlus 11's right now and with the fantastic coupons and trade-in values from the OnePlus website, I couldn't pass up the upgrade. I'm not trading in our 11's, BTW, but our two year old Motorola Edge Plus phones that have lousy antennas. Fantastic deal! 😊
I really like the latest OxygenOS/ColorOS, way more improved than the previous versions
Best phone right now! Better than Samsung 24! Better battery! Lager battery, charging faster and holds you longer! Better screen and a bigger one, more BIT colors and alot brighter screen. Feels faster when you scroll, feels like an iPhone. Better CPU as bench marks have shown. Better speakers. Pretty much all that matters and with a alot cheaper price!

@@andreigb4476 it’s amazing! everything is sooo smooth. Battery lasts around 1 & 1/2 days. Plus I recently switched from google assistant to Gemini which enhances things even more!

Thanx for another awesome video. One pro tip though, allways show what type of usb outlet the charging brick has, if included in the box, please. It would be an absolute banger to know if its an usb-a or usb-c. Cheers!

yeah only big downside i can see with this device is the curved screen, which just makes it more fragile, relfective and harder to protect
I agree. Flat screen for tempered glass protection is a must have!
OnePlus keeps supplying power brick (100W) + red cable. 💯 This is a win for me.
Excellent review thanks! Preordered one of the 16gb ram ones in the green. I need to move on from S20 ultra and didn’t want to spend a fortune on S24 Ultra. With Buds free that old Hanz himself has had a fiddle with seems to me rather a bargain at £899! 👌📱

@dewester5394 Speaker phone gone on it and so has main speaker for media intermittently. Been a superb phone especially camera. Used to change phone every 12 months but no Samsung since cut it. One plus 12 first phone since to feel a bit different and special.

I'd be interested to know if you found any difference with eye tiredness with the special low flicker brightness tech the OnePlus has? Also how was the aquatouch screen feature when it's wet? I don't think you mentioned it!

Beautiful review and a beautiful phone.
Pretty much most people use a case on their expensive smartphones. My one plus 10 pro screen protector installed in the factory still looks like the day I bought the phone. And the mute/vibrate slider never moves unless I force it with my finger, reason is it's recessed inside the case.
When will the full review of the normal s24 drop? I am really interested in the battery performance of the exynos chip.
I got mine few days ago. Actually feel like its better than the s24U which I bought 2 weeks ago. The oneplus feels more modern. I like it. Just gets a lot warm surprisingly. May gotta reset it once

Amazing how Google and Oneplus used to be at the bottom when it came to camera performance, and now they're right up there.
This is a really great phone and yes wireless 50 watt charging - I ordered mine as soon as the keynote got over - order it or be a square
was really considering oneplus 12 but after joining their reddit and having friends that previously owned oneplus phones.. i've preordered an s24 ultra instead and with my phone trade in it became cheaper than the OP12 in my country (poor trade in bonuses in my country). nice to see oneplus coming back though. will probably join oneplus after they fix all their issues.
Oneplus seem to have stopped trade-in online here in Sweden 🙁 still waiting one more year, my S22U still keeps up 💪🏻
@@hellsfavoritesaltyberserke4724 thats actually true. i've actually had alot of problems with samsung which was why i considered switching to oneplus but then i saw as much or if not, more problems with oneplus. oneplus does not have any stores in my country, solely online only so that isnt comforting. only xiaomi, samsung, apple are prominent in my country.
As much as I love the regular updates from the pixels, I think I'd be happy to wait a few months for updates just to have this hardware. Love it. Definitely my next phone. Or the Sony 5 MK5
OnePlus is actually really great at getting those updates out around the time Pixels get them. I would avoid Sony.

I had the unfortunate experience of two charging cables going bad on the same day. So my OnePlus 7 Pro wouldn't charge and I was in full panic, I not only ordered a replacement battery w/tools for $20, but also got a OnePlus 12.
I liked the 7 Pro but it had very poor sound quality although the rest of it was fine. The OnePlus 12 blows it out of the water. Great sound, camera with a bright screen and super fast.
The first thing I did when it arrived was take the new red charging cable, my old red cable had weirdly frayed on one end, and tried to charge my 7 Pro. Yup, it charged right up and that's when I learned a harsh lesson. If I hadn't been in such a panic, clear thinking would have been to buy another cable.
A VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON!
The good news is I got a great phone and a spare that allows me to create a hotspot without a sim card. My Moto wouldn't allow that!
So, updating my Tesla software just got a lot more convenient.
The only gripe so far is getting used to the sensitivity of the curved screen which is very sensitive. Never had issues with the 7 Pro so maybe a case is needed on the 12.

I'm due an upgrade but not sure what to go for. Currently on an S22 ultra however have used the S Pen twice in 2 years, not sure to drop down to an S24+ or consider the Pixel 8 Pro or this one plus 12. I had the 6T years ago which was fantastic other than the cameras

Preordered both the OnePlus 12 and S24 Ultra because I couldn't decide, well now I've had both for about 2 months and can't bring myself to part with either of them. They have a lot of similarities, so maybe it is silly to have both but I genuinely love them both for their strengths and differences. My pixel 8 pro was a great phone, but I have no regrets about trading it in for the OnePlus 12. Also, get the watch...it's brilliant

I’ve been flirting with moving from Apple for years and always had a soft spot for OnePlus, the 24 ultra looks great but at £1349 vs this at £899 and the 15 Pro Max being £1399 for comparative storage. I think I may finally make the jump Apple and Samsung have priced themselves out of my budget.

I was merely saying the OnePlus is amazing value when the latest IPhone and Samsung are double what I’ve paid for a phone in the past. Stretching to £899 is doable, £1349/1399 is not.

I cannot seem to find any videos that show video playback options. Can you have media play without going around the curved edge and over the front camera? So a window that excludes those areas? N0t had a curved phone before and this puts me off a discounted pixel 7 pro also. This and light reflecting along the glass edge, over the image, puts me off. Just my preference but would like to know, thanks :)

Have to say the curved screen is making me go back to a Redmi note 12 pro plus from a S23 ultra, just a much better daily driver and it displays the google feed much better and super fast charging.
Oneplus 12 looks like an amazing phone for a reasonable price. I think it will be my next phone!

I just pre ordered one. With my Oneplus 9 trade in, I paid 499.00 USD with a free wireless charger. I was about to go for the Samsung S24 Plus, but that would have been 899.00 with trade in. Sorry Sammy.
I love this phone, having the gen 3 and a screen eye-friendly with over 2000 hz pwm it's just the perfect option than the galaxy s24 ultra.
Seems like the weather was rather gloomy during the photo test. Pretty sure that in summer ot at least during sunny day on winter landscape the quality would be even better.
Been keeping my eyes on this phone as I have always liked the OnePlus devices, just never gotten one yet.
