A great tutorial. Thank you for that. I have a BMW I5. When using Apple car Play and Apple Maps wil it also indicatie when to charge (during a long journey)? And does it show charging stations and pre condition the battery when a charging station is chosen? As BMW maps does.
@@hs6745 SO the car DOES talk to Apple CarPlay, once charge gets low enough it will tell Apple CarPlay which will prompt you to find a charger nearby, same as if you were using gas only. The only thing that keeps CarPlay down on BMW’s own internal is charge planning on a long distance drive, BMW will take care of that for you where Apple CarPlay just simply says your’e low on charge and finds the closest charger. Other thing APple CarPlay doesn’t do is trigger the preconditioning for DC fast charging if you choose a DC charger in CarPlay. Hi. I had the same question for my local dealer (Slovakia, Europe Union) and the answer was “no”. Because second LCI gets new Hardware and the 8.5 works on android “background”. 8.0 works on own bmw system. But of course the dealer could be wrong.

My apple carplay does not connect one out of every 3 to 4 times i get in the car. Sometimes when i click media it just shows me a blank home background. My car is the 2023 g20 330i LCI

We have a 2024 iX and I thought I understood Apple CarPlay. Your tutorial has now greatly confused me. I’m clearly in the minority here but I did not get anything useful from this tutorial. I’ve seen numerous previous videos of yours and always found them helpful, but not this one.
@@BMWofFW Thank you for your courteous reply. I will admit that I did learn something from your video, your very first point…that it can be TELEPHONE & AUDIO OR MODE only. What I would have liked to know more about is WHY would someone want one or the other? I don’t use Apple Maps (I prefer the BMW Nav as I’m used to it, I can easily toggle the Voice Guidance on or off, and I can route plan with Charging so the battery is pre-conditioned) but I do listen to music exclusively in our car from Apple Music or from my library. When a text message arrives I’m alerted on the screen and with an audible cue, and I can tap the alert banner to hear Siri read my message and ask if I want to reply. Based on those aspects I’d say I’m connected to MODE, but I’m not sure. We always tried to click ALL THREE BOXES and always managed to get to the mode I just described. I would have preferred a more in depth explanation of those options and the advantages/disadvantages to both. In general, I found this video to be a bit disorganized and I felt confused after. I just had my wife watch your video and she LOVED it as she uses CarPlay in our Volvo C40 all the time, especially for Nav, so, like I said, I’m clearly in the minority here. Thank you for your great video. It’s great to see how Apple Maps can be shown in the driver instrument panel too. Very cool!
You do a great job making these videos. I’m looking now to purchase a X5 and the videos certainly help in my decision making.
This was a great tutorial. I have been using CarPlay in my i4 for a couple of years and learned quite a bit.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video....Appreciate it.
Thank you for 5:50! I was wondering how to show the ETA on the instrument cluster.
I have a 2024 m3 competition. How do you make m1/m2 buttons automatically change the gauge cluster to sport mode?
Apple CarPlay maps definitely looks cleaner and more intuitive that the native BMW navigation map.
