As of now only Apple Maps works in the instrument cluster. It’s also odd, when using Google maps the system maps will display on the instrument cluster other times it says “guidance is being used via Apple CarPlay”. So there is some inconsistencies.
Google Maps only shows up on Android Auto, I had both phones, Android and Apple. Found out that if you want it to show you need an Android phone using Android Auto. If you use Apple Carplay only Maps works. Weird.. not sure why it's like that. Should be a simple fix for BMW but not sure if that's done on purpose or something.
Does the screen show just the ETA and route or does it also show the guidance (in ... miles turn left or at the roundabout take the ... exit)
@@alltechthings9506 it does. Right before you choose start guidance you can choose your route or see route options

On the android version i can also see the navigation on the speedometer.
Dang! Hopefully they do something about it one day. To allow all maps.
