That explains why I can sing a Beatles song right away...those puppies have been internalized for decades! Do I have to simplify to down strums and maybe slow to a funereal march at first? Sometimes but you just validated that those strategies work. Thx!

Oh Brother man! Yes yes thrice yes, this is the way it is, I have been playing 30 years and still have to spend the time doing this, some songs just happen, and are easy because you know them so well and have been singing them for years, but sometimes for the same reason they really don't come so easily and some I have even given up on just because of one word that happens at the same time as a chord change or lick etc.. if I had heard you speak to me 30 years ago lol.. maybe all would have been different, do the good work my friend, and thanks for saying in a few minutes what it took me years of hard frustrating work to discover and to all of the folks watching this content, especially those reading this particular comment, consider yourselves fortunate indeed this knowledge is priceless and never will be understood before it has been tried.. thank you from me. 👍

I struggled with it for almost my entire youth and young adult life. It wasn't until I set down the guitar for about 10 years, picked it up again, and miraculously was able to do it without issue???

Thanks Eric. - I know the answer will be different for everyone ... so maybe for a reference point ... how long would you say it takes you to commit either of the parts (guitar / vocals) to subconscious before you are able to start putting them together?

For me it's much easier to sing while playing because right hand keeps the rhythm. I believe that was this reason when Buddy Holly kept his guitar while playing and singing.
This is the video I have waited years and years and years for. It seems like common sense but I have just been trying to brute force my way through the songs, get pissed off and rinse/repeat next year
