Being a college professor has NOTHING to do with automatically being a morally upright and honest person. Some of the worst people in the world have university degrees or work in academia.
Biggest lie I was told was when I was 19 in 1995 by a mechanic that I took my car to for a $20 registration inspection. I came back 30 minutes later and he meets me on the driveway and says: "Thank god you brought it in when you did cause your cam pump is about to fail." He said it would cost $3500 to fix. (On a $2000 1978 car) I said to him "Well that's funny because I just rebuilt this engine about a month ago and don't remember installing that part." He went bright red and asked if I was a mechanic, to which I said "Actually I'm a aircraft mechanic for a Qantas airways" 🤣
I have two college degrees from a moderately sized state university and I can attest that college instructors and professors have shown me that they can be the most unprofessional individuals you'll ever meet. My mother taught me from young age to respect everyone whether they are retired, a janitor, a teacher, a business owner, etc. I know from experience that a title and position doesn't always accurately represent that persons integrity and character.
I’ve listened to quite a few people with college degrees, and even ones who are supposed to be highly knowledgeable in their fields, who have gotten things very wrong.
Tangy diesel, wizard lies: What I've been noticing in the last 20 years is how the gambling institutions working with the government agencies are building many many Avenues to gamble but here's the real kicker they advertise Gamblers Anonymous which is which is against their (GA) Traditions that they go by in the program. Gambling , It's one of the worst Addictions on the planet. All other anonymous 12-step groups adhere to those principles that's why you don't see advertisements only in the Christmas New Year time.
I have been in business for 36 years expanding to three shops and have experienced every one of the lies you mention, many times over. My dad who was a mechanic told me early on “ son, the public will educate you”. Most of the systems I have incorporated in my business are designed to prevent customers from taking advantage of my less experienced ( naive) staff. 90% of our customers are good customers, it’s the 10% that we have to guard against.
When working as a mechanic at Precision Tune, a car pulled in for a routine oil change. As he pulled in, one could hear the brake noise. We offered a courtesy brake inspection. He agreed snd sure enough, he was due for a brake job. Customer declined. We informed him that while not unsafe at the moment, he did need to get the job done. He came back a few days later furious. "You tried to sell me an unnecessary brake job! I found the problem and fixed it myself! It was this piece of metal touching the rotor! I pried it back snd the problem is fixed!" We informed him that the next sound he would hear is an ugly grinding sound and we would be delighted to sell him new rotors and maybe even calipers.
Customer horror story part 2: The cus then reported us to the BAR. The inspector comes to us about trying to sell an unnecessary brake job. We explained what we found. The inspector then replied "Oh! Then you released an unsafe vehicle!" We showed the brake inspection report showing the pads had 3/32's of pad left. Enough for the wear indicator to touch the rotor but not unsafe. Frustrated, the inspector shouted "You either tried to sell an unnecessary brake job or you released an unsafe vehicle! Pick your citation!"
Mrs. Wizard is a lovely woman. I’m glad you have her on these videos instead of just hogging the spotlight for yourself. Speaks volumes about your character. Just another reason you’re a great Channel.
Regarding Lie #2: The bank was stupid for making the loan proceeds check out to the truck owner. I worked for a lender and standard operating procedure is to make the check out to whichever shop is performing the work, ESPECIALLY is the work is being done on your collateral. Wouldn't be surprised if the loan officer lost his/her job over that five-figure mistake.
I was thinking the exact same thing, when I saw the video. That was a big mistake on the banks part. Never make the check out to the person financing a vehicle. They should have made the check out to Omega.
We don't know the details... When insurance does the checks they are payable both to the shop and to the owner, but the shop is supposed to deposit the check. It's possible his shop endorsed the check and gave it back to the customer for deposit.
@@Burt1038 I severely doubt wizard endorsed the check and returned it to the guy. It wasn’t an insurance type deal anyway, likely the loan officer was a trusting soul and got burned by his friend.
@@84sp84 lol you think it is MORE likely that the bank (which does this every day as their primary business) screwed up... than that a mechanic, many of which are financially illiterate, made a simple mistake. Ok bud.
That’s happened to many a body shop where the insurance sends a multi thousand dollar check to the car owner vs the body shop . Body shop ends up owning the car . Stupid practice . The body shop does not want to own the car they want to be able to pay the employees.
That last story struck a chord with me. I try to be nice and always give people the benefit of the doubt but 25 years ago while in college I was a debt collector and I got all the sob stories. After a while you realize, sob stories are almost 100% lies to get you off their back. I honestly don't know how these people sleep at night but clearly they have had some success with their storytelling because they keep doing it.
There is some percentage, I believe it is more than half, of people, who, if you are kind to them and helpful to them, for no reason other than good will, they will think you are stupid. In return for your kindness, they will try to take advantage of you, trying to use your kindness to their advantage. Lying to you is the least harmful form of that.
I told the debt collectors my girlfriend died to get them off her back, and they didn't believe me. Even after I sent them the death certificate. They're still trying to get the money she owed. It's adorable. (They even sent someome to serve her court papers lol. Idiots)
@@silkroad1201 Not surprised at all. Heard stories of people listing a cemetary plot as their deceased's new address when its clear they arent going to listen
In arizona, the client authorizes repair, you install a new engine and the client walks away, the bank will refuse to pay you and you may wind up in court to get "some" of your money. THE BANKING LOBBY WON THAT ONE.
It’s a true shame all the lies that you’ve gone through, glad that you’re honest and a decent individual, hope your business succeeds better than you can imagine!
Sadly that's the easiest thing to do when the shit hits the fan, rather than being honest simply lie or blame someone or something else.Such a shame just b honest god dammit!🤔😱👁👀👁
I support “Write Offs” on losses with businesses. Less taxes to pay! Hey Wizard, NEVER sell that building even when you’re retiring from being a Mechanic. Rent that building out to the Future Car Wizard! Passive income is the best income!
Mrs. Wizard's tale of woe regarding telecom was very familiar. I can almost guarantee that the first company she discussed was AT&T. They constantly sell speeds that they can't deliver because of the distance from the CO.
They don't do that anymore. Know how they fixed the problem? They just stopped selling DSL service! They'll only offer either fiber based service, or ADSL2+, which has such a short range from the nearest ADSL2+ DSLAM (large ugly view-obstructing pole mounted box, usually illegally mounted to boot) that the service either works or it doesn't.
I can attest from personal experience that AT&T range from being Mediocre to Downright Awful when it comes to customer service. The corporate greed, fixation on sales or upselling, and trying to nickel and dime customers with hidden fees and useless services is thru the roof. A few examples; One time in the early 2010's, at a house my family had, we realized we no longer needed a landline phone from AT&T (everyone had mobiles), so we called up customer service to cancel that service (we had a combined internet + landline phone plan for the house). When we got to a service rep, and told her we wanted to cancel the landline (but keep the internet service), the rep went into full-blown salesman mode and was actively trying to convince us we needed the landline service. We told her that we obviously didn't, because everyone in the household used mobile phones, and we already got rid of our landline phones in the house because they were redundant. Even so, she refused to listen and kept trying to "convince" us we needed to use the landline, this argument went on for 5 minutes straight. We had to repeatedly reiterate that it was useless, nobody was using a landline and there are no phones using it in the house. Finally, the rep seemed to relent, and then put us on a 45 min hold, saying that she "needed to talk to her superior," and so we waited. When the hold was up and she came back, she immediately requested we wait again, and put us on a 15 minute hold. After that, a different rep (probably the superior) came on and said that he will grant us our request, after we were stuck on the phone for a solid hour and 20 minutes, plus the unwelcome salesman attitude of refusing to listen to our request from the previous rep. At that time AT&T didn't offer any satisfaction surveys to rate for the service in that area, but that was definitely a 0/10. Fast forward to 2016, and at the same house, our family was in the process of moving out to sell the house, so we no longer needed any internet nor AT&T service at that place anymore. We called up AT&T customer service to cancel the internet and billing. We requested to cancel the service. The service rep tried to redirect us to not outright canceling the internet, but to instead put it on 'Inactive Status.' I had a feeling I knew where this was going, but I let the guy entertain me, so I asked for an explanation of what this Inactive Status is. He said that it's where our internet and service would be completely shut off, but we still get billed a portion of the normal bill so that the status "stays on the books" and so that the internet can be activated "without a hitch" in the event we want full service again. I told him that we were moving out of the house so we wouldn't need any service at all, and I told him I felt like the Inactive Status sounded like a dumb idea which was a waste of money. The rep went into salesman mode and "explained" that the Inactive Status was there so that in the event we wanted to reactivate internet with AT&T at that location we wouldn't be billed the full service activation fee as if a new account for internet was set up. I told him that was totally moot because we were moving out of the house and it would be sold to a completely different party. So the guy finally relented and canceled the service, but he still made it as inconvenient with his salesman attitude as possible, and it was borderline humorous seeing how much they were trying to sell useless services like that. AT&T, Masters of Peddling Worthless Telecomm Services.
Lie 3: The first company should have been named. People need to be aware of these clowns to stay away from them because it's just business as usual for them. It's not illegal what they're doing and that's exactly the problem because you have no leverage. If everyone's gonna just ignore this they won't stop. If they start to lose business then and only then something will change. Companies like that really do my head in.
Got to Love the stories. My best is…..I worked at a Dodge dealer and back in 01 we were replacing engines because people were driving them through flooded streets (lots of rain in May of 01). Heard a lot of stories on why the engines were locked up! Best one was the guy that waited 6 months then brought it in for a no start. Pulled the air intake and found it loaded with water. Pulled the plugs and the cylinders were full. This guy parked it for 6 months thinking he Would be smart and get it covered under warranty. He got lucky and it must’ve been idling through the water because no damage was done. Just new plugs and oil change with a new air filter. Some people think other people are very stupid!
For sure the Dodge Mopar people are a little different. They always have been. Been working on cars for 50 years and nothing has changed all that much.
When a car mechanic mentions "Pantera" in the first 10 seconds, why on earth would we assume you mean the band? Geez, you got me all excited, and missing the '74 I used to own.
Omega Auto Clinic is not name on title or loan. Also, it could indirectly assign responsibility for the truck or the loan if the truck owner defaults on the loan. OAC is NOT a cosigner on the loan. OAC is a service provider, and that's the extent of their connection to the vehicle. The bank correctly assigned responsibility for the $7,000 to the truck owner, not OAC. The bank added the $7k to the loan value on the truck, and likely adjusted the loan for the this.
Luckily I have not had to be in that position, but when we bought our 2nd home, we used some of our previous equity to pay a personal line of credit off. Did the bank right the check to us? Heck no. They wrote it and mailed it themselves to Discover. Your logic doesn’t make sense. It’s in the banks interest to get that vehicle fixed or they could be stuck in the situation they ended up in. By paying directly for repairs doesn’t change liability. The person with the truck signed papers that he is responsible for payment and defaulted. If he had had the repairs done and defaulted 3 months later, would they come after Omega because the majority of the $7,000 is still outstanding and is responsible for any ownership. No because Omega didn’t and wouldn’t have to sign any papers. The bank would pay them to have the needed repairs done. Simple.
I’m a 45 year home improvement company owner and appreciate what I watched here. Working inside peoples homes is a real treat too. I enjoy this channel and how you narrate it all. Mrs Wizard is equally as sharp in what she does and what’s really funny is I’m sitting in Chick-Fil-A’s parking lot eating in my truck and right in front of me is a Verizon phone company installation van just as her story is being told. Keep up what you’re doing as it’s always spot on.
I love that the billion dollar credit company couldn't bear the cost of their card being used illegally, so they shifted the cost onto a small business. Obviously the ethical thing to do. Good on the wizard for standing up to the bank too. Can't let them push us little guys around.
@The Big Fig , that's a great point! Frankly, the credit card company should've had to pay car wizard, and instead go after the woman who committed credit card fraud.
Hey guys and gals, it’s not quite as simple as you think. What very likely happened was the innocent actual card owner contested the charge (rightfully) as they did not authorize it. So the bank reversed or undid the transaction, which pulled the funds back from the car wizard. It’s not a situation of the big bad bank taking a shot at the small business owner. They just reversed a transaction and explained to the car wizard what was going on. Now to give you an actual situation where a bank or credit card company ate a fraudulent transaction. Back in 2015 my wife and I drove from Florida to California to visit my niece. I’ll never forget my daughter calling and telling me that one of my credit card companies was trying to reach me. I called and found out they had received a call from someone who knew enough about me (personal information) for the bank to send them a new credit card, which they immediately used to go make two cash advance withdrawals of $500 each along with the customary $3.00 ATM fee totaling $1,006. The only way they were caught was I have never done a cash advance on a credit card and their transactions raised a red flag of potential fraud on the account. The bank did eat that one as the crooks got cash and disappeared. The real shame on my deal, was the police not doing a damn thing. They had an address where the new card was received via the USPS, but couldn’t take the time or energy to investigate. (I guess they had to go beat up some poor motorists for some nonsense). Yes I’m bitter still about the police lack of action or accountability. Hell if they told me that they had driven by and found the place vacant that would have been better than doing nothing
The one I hear most and am completely tired of hearing is “I had my car in your shop last week for an oil change and now the (insert problem unrelated to an oil change lie) doesn’t work”. The worst are people who haven’t had their car in our shop for 6-12 months and they want us to replace something that they claim was broken by us. They are so upset when they call and demand we fix the situation but yet they’ll wait nearly a year to complain. I don’t understand how some people even function lol
Your story about buying the building reminded me of when we bought our house. Closing was such and such a date. The people we bought the house from didn't seem to think that they would need to leave the house. We tried to convince them that they needed to move out, but in the end we had to have the Sheriff come by and explain it to them.
Buying and renting out buildings or homes can be dangerous. I've heard of landlords being killed by renters. A neighbor of mine where I used to live was killed by 2 young adults that she was renting to.
Yep. Buying property is filled with horror stories and during Covid it was worse because laws protected squatters, if news stories are truthful. Police often tossed up their hands and said it was a civil matter. Renting and buying often relies on the goodness of others. At my first house the seller stole most of the landscape, items listed in the sales pitch, light bulbs and ripping up fences (leaving most laying on the ground). Most likely because of the clause that said he'd have to pay rent if he stayed another 3 months after closing. I told my friend and he said it could be worse. When he moved in the guy had stolen the appliances, including central AC, the gazebo, 2 sheds, and stripped the shop of built-in equipment and wiring.
Lies customers have told themselves and/or me when dropping off their vehicle 1. I could fix it myself, but I don't have time 2. I spent too much money on this, so I cant spend much money fixing it 3. I got this vehicle super cheap so I don't want to spend much money fixing it 4. Anytime they belittle the job. "It's an easy job, it's a simple repair, just needs a minor tune up, probably just needs new spark plugs" 5. When you show the customer a very broken or worn part and they ask how much longer it will last 6. Can I drop my vehicle off right before you close and pick it up when you open? (the next day, fixed of course)
God that was so much Comcast until I dumped their asses 11 years ago. I was on the phone with their tech support people once or twice a month asking why my internet was down/being dodgey/slow/etc. Been with AT&T since then, I've had ONE, yes ONE internet outage since then in 11 years, that was when the crazy guy blew up the telephone exchange in Nashville on Christmas last year.
@@AaronSmith-kr5yf Where I am it's just the opposite. Maybe one short outage in a year with Comcast, usually after midnight Monday morning and AT&T can never even deliver what they promise when they try to hook you up.With Comcast when there is an outage I just go to the website with my phone and get an ETA. I will never touch anything with the AT&T logo on it again.
My sister's husband runs his own body shop. He said the number of people who arrive to pick up their vehicle with no money with them, is astonishing. they're like "Oh I forgot my cheque book. I will drop a cheque off later" And they put their hand out to him for the keys. - He tell 'em "No problem. You can have the keys when I have the cheque" - They get so angry. But he's had to chase people for months/years to get paid, so now his policy is no payment, no keys. I mean, WHO shows up to a business without the money to pay for the repairs they had done!! LOL
Crazy to think they give them firearms lmao I heard they’re now allowing national guard to live at home during basic if they live near base lol no more shark attacks,no more swearing. Crazy lol
Everyone who's had a business for any length of time will have some sort of story, and it's kind of cool to hear that the Car Wizard is no different. It is amazing to me how bold people can be when lying to you or trying to get something over on you. It's as if they believe they are entitled to it. That mentality doesn't go away when they become an adult either, it gets even worse.
I helped a roommate who was attempting to rebuild a 5.4 2 valve 98 F-150. He shouldn't be working on an anvil with a rubber mallet. Pistons installed but no heads yet he was trying to turn the engine over with a 3/4 inch drive breaker bar. It took all his strength to move the crankshaft even a little. I said stop we need to back up and see what is binding. He didn't listen to anything and I asked another roommate why he quit trying to help. He says it's so fubar I was afraid to be associated with such a fustercluck! It actually started and when the oil drain was opened water poured out of the oil pan and putting more in the radiator it instantly came out of the oil pan. Later I found he didn't have an intake gasket but that didn't matter to him. I showed him a bent valve he said are you sure that costs $11!
During my 74 years on this planet, I've learned that it is so much easier to tell the unvarnished truth about a bad situation and own our mistakes and limitations. Then, we can ask for help without becoming deceitful. Most people of good conscience will try to help each other, even if we find ourselves in a bad situation of our own making. It's called empathy. Deceit always makes the problem worse. I think the stories told by Mr. and Mrs. Wizard would have ended in a more positive outcome if the subject of their story had simply been honest, especially the one about the phones and Internet. That story really "takes the cake".
yeah i agree about the phone story. that's something i can't stand. it was as if she was unhappy with her job so she could use it to omit certain info to spread the unhappiness. nonsense. sometimes i can hate people.
When I hear 3v 5.4 Triton I get the shivers haha. Gets a loan to get a replacement engine??!!! Absolute madness and what is worse just abandons the truck.
Yep I had the same engine in my 05 King Ranch. Body was in great condition but engine died from the timing parts as they all do. Sold it on FB marketplace to an awesome guy who collects these King Ranch's and totally fixed it up. Very happy to give it to someone who really wanted it.
The best truck to buy is those old Toyota Pickups! My Dad bought a 91 Pickup with the V6 engine. The truck has been thru Hell and back and forth. It’s 2021 and it still runs!😂
Sorry to hear about your NG experience. When i got off active duty, i went in the Reserves. Fortunately, it was nowhere near as crazy. But, the Reserve mentality is way different than Active Duty.
When I was in the Cal ANG, I was helicopter, T-33 (yes..) and F106 mechanic. The full timers wouldn't let us touch the airplanes. I did get to pick up a drag chute at the end of the runway. The MSgt laughed when he saw me pick up then drop the link that attaches to the tail of the airplane. It was smoking HOT! When I threw the chute in the back of the pickup and hopped it, he asked "A little hot?" I said, "Naw. It doesn't take me long to look at a hook". We became buddies that day.
The phone number issue reminds me of when we changed from our former carrier to the new one. At the time it was just an economic decision. The former company held our number for over a week. Making excuses the whole time. By the time it was over we decided that we would never ever have anything to do with them again.
Regarding the college professor I worked for a super market in n y c and loss prevention cought a new York university professor steeling baby food When asked why would you do that he said that he was overcharge on his previous visit You would think that a professor would just bring in his recipt and get a refund
"This person was a professor at a well-known college in the area. let that sink in." No, no, I dont need to, I've seen what "College Education" did right up the road in Portland . . . sounds like standard fare, honestly.
Story Time! So at the time I lived in Washington State and was looking for a better/newer vehicle because my adhd and constant need to have something different. Fast forward to me seeing a Nissan Hardbody that was airbagged and I called the guy on Craigslist about it. He lived up in Port Angeles but agreed to need halfway, in Bramerton. Which was about a 2 hour drive. Mind you, I told the guy I had cash in hand and my trade as we agreed to it 100%. A friend and I drove my car up there and he was letting me know how far he was. My friend and I get there and I call him letting him know, he goes "I'm not trading you. I never left" and laughed about it. Feeling defeated, I said screw it and went home. A few times I've had deals fall through because the person sells it before I get there although we already agree on a price and I offer more than what their asking for. Oh well.
#1..... I totally believe it. Been around academics and logic gets thrown out the window! Does not surprise me at all! #4.... Speechless! WTH?!! And how do these people sleep at night??
The phone thing is a lot like my experience moving my shop. In the end I had no phones, no forwarding of calls, and when my customers called they got the "This number is not in service" message. It took them 10 days to get things right...and then they charged me an expediting fee. I didn't pay it.
People suck. I have zero faith in humankind anymore. That doesn't mean i treat people like crap. I treat people with respect and kindness. But when that respect is not returned, thats when the "red curtain" falls.
True about some small business types. They have a tendency to be a little dark and shady. Downright criminal in certain ways. Cheating employees, bouncing checks, floating checks not yet cleared, stiffing suppliers, damaging deliveries on purpose and then demanding a discount for those supplies. Yes, I've seen that one myself.
You handled the renters of your new shop really well. If I had to box up someone else's stuff, I would have kept what I wanted an trash the rest. Good work!
It sucks that you have to deal with a lot of dishonest people in your profession, and am especially thankful that it hasn't affected you. Your honesty has made your business and YT channel grow. Happy to see you and Mrs. Wizard enjoying some RnR on your yacht. I hope we get more of these type of videos in the future!
I signed up for AF National Guard but didn't go and got a "seperation of duty". The recruiter didn't cancel my Group Members Life Insurance policy and I got a gov't lean on my taxes and had to reach out to my local congressman to get it removed. Then years later my younger brother after being an active duty F-15E WISO also tried signing up for the same guard unit and the SAME recruiter tried switching his ppwk. My brother got him fired from Air Force. Sweet belated justice.
This is white privilege. If you have a business you can decide if you want to accept someone as a customer or not. There are single moms working 2 jobs where they don't get to choose how any of their interactions go. That actually came to mind when he was complaining about someone leaving the building he was about to rent a day before his contract started. That guy literally left on time. And the wizard literally said he doesn't care about his business but about his own. Now imagine that guy was trying to feed several children juggling part time jobs and gets thrown out without a friendly notice because he was trying to negotiate about the rent. And then the wizard shows up and just complains without having any business there because his rental contract didn't start yet. I'm not saying that's what happened at all, I'm just saying you can never show enough regard and empathy for others, unless they are factually and obviously trying to screw you over you should get out of peoples way without any comments.
@@アマ-p2l apparently the guy renting the building who we should empathize with told the owner that he wanted out anyways. threatened to take his business elsewhere. and it turned out he was lying the whole time. the worker said they had another building they were moving to. people will try to take advantage anyway possible.
@@senorpepper3405 Yeah I'm just saying the Wizard said he doesn't care about that guys business, but then he turns around and complains even though that guy left on time. I can't understand how it makes sense to say hey I don't care about your problems but why haven't you moved yet? If you don't want an answer, why are you even asking? Usually it doesn't speed up the process to urge people to hurry up. Maybe they left exactly on time just to piss the wizard off because he was being so fruity and concerned. I know this is kind of a rude thing to say. My point is if you don't care about someones' problems then don't talk about that person unless it's relevant, if you do care then at least try to show empathy and try to be understanding, don't just accuse someone of intentionally wronging you without knowing a thing about them and without caring to find out a thing about them. Otherwise your behavior is more rude than me judging you for it.
@@アマ-p2l sounds like the old Tennent only left on time because the wizard gave them strong encouragement to leave on time he shouldn’t have had to do that, that’s why he was pissed off. It’s simple
@@phillipbyrnes2885 I get that, but how does it make sense to say "I don't care" and then get alll up in someones' business. You can tell them to leave on time without being arrogant. For example you don't have to say "I don't care" you can say "I'm sorry I have my own business to take care of and that's my priority". I don't like dishonesty. He said he doesn't care but then he goes into details and questions the employees to find out things about that business. Doesn't make any sense. Sure it makes sense to show them no empathy so they won't try to take advantage of you, but you don't have to be cocky about it and you don't have to lie or say things that you clearly don't mean.
I was gonna say that the recruiter lying story had to be the top lie (since many military recruiters can be legendary liars) but then the crazy story of the company squatting in the building (that you owned!) came forth, and that was definitely worthy of the top spot!
Reminds me of the time I was helping my sister move into her new apartment and we found the previous renter still there-totally not moved. My Dad and I ended up having to move his stuff and my usually soft spoken Dad blew his top upon seeing the useless old renter drinking a beer in the kitchen. "Git your ASS down here and help us!" my Dad barked with what was probably his best E-5 voice he hadn't used for decades. It had a remarkable effect on the renter as I swear he snapped to attention and actually started moving his crap with purpose.
I retired from a regional Bell telephone company. Everyone hates us. Our customer service was an abomination. Us guys in the field saw the poor customers, some of them out of service for 3 months. Mrs. Wiz’ story is a drop in the bucket.
I used to hang out with Pantera back in the day in my hometown of Arlington. Dimebag Darrell's house was in a little town that was in the middle of Arlington named Pantego. Him and his brother are Immortal Legends in the community here. It's where they were both laid to rest. They were awesome guys that were cool to hang out with and never turned down a request for a autograph
Shout out to CRAZY D ! He's been with you all the way, and I loved his acting in your first few videos. That got me interested in the channel. Great guy !
Wizard, thank you for your active duty service from this USAF vet here! Pretty lousy thing they did to you with that national guard BS. Thanks for the cool video!
What a cool bank! I never thought of asking the bank for car repair money!! Glad you didn't get burned on that one Car Wizard!! No words on that buying the building/tenant story....ridiculous!!! About time we got some Car Wizard VINwiki stories!! Look forward to it!!
As far as the tenant of the building not wanting to leave, well once you close on the purchase you're the new owner and you can set the rent. We had a similar situation with a farm we bought, when the tenants found out what the new rent was they left in two days.
I spent the winter/spring working CS for a phone company and it was awful. The only reason residents keep a landline is because 'it works when the power is out', and people so elderly they can't deal with a smartphone. The internet side of things is severely stressed with everyone working from home and watching HD movies. Their sales people close any sale regardless of actual possibilities. The technicians are expected to sprint the whole day, so repairs are usually slapdash.
The National Guard story is exactly what I went through! I left Active Duty in 2014 and joined the Reserves while I went to school. It was a shock how bad it was. No organization, no discipline whatsoever, And as a SSG with 14 years Active Duty it was misery.
I heard about a dealership I didn't work at, a salesman on his last day told a customer that they could replace all his metric bolts with standard bolts and set him up an appointment to get it done the following week. As you can imagine, the customer showed up for his appointment and the service department didn't have any idea what he was talking about. It was a real mess.
Mr. sticks, yup, I went to the U of hard knocks and bought a 1979? Triumph Bonneville 650 about 1984 in N. California with stripped out nuts and bolts from po... so lucky to find a BMW mechanic and then a motorcycle mentor to set me right, from positive ground to reversed shifter.... only ran smoothly at 80+ mph, and I only had a tach so depended on a buddy biker or hyway patrol to watch my speed, lol. I knew the truck guy gambled the money. I used to work in car finance and i knew exactly where that story was going. I can tell you the end, that guy NEVER got financing for a pack of gum much less a car ever again in his life. And I've seen it all to often, he's probably dead now.
I was active duty AF (E-5) and was interested in becoming an Army Warrant officer. I swung by an Army recruiting center while on leave, showed them my ID, and after telling them not to BS me, I enquired on how to make the switch. The recruiter laid out the process, which according to them was, "Leave the AF, join the Army, do a year or two, and then put in your Warrant package." Long story short, after a lot of research I discovered that was all a big lie. There was a program in place (this was 2005, no idea if it still exists) that would have allowed me to put in a Warrant package while in the AF, and if accepted I could go to Warrant school. I am over simplifying the process, but that was the gist of it. As my enlistment was coming to an end, and I detested being lied to, I wisely resumed civilian status.
Being a college professor has NOTHING to do with automatically being a morally upright and honest person. Some of the worst people in the world have university degrees or work in academia.
Biggest lie I was told was when I was 19 in 1995 by a mechanic that I took my car to for a $20 registration inspection.
I came back 30 minutes later and he meets me on the driveway and says:
"Thank god you brought it in when you did cause your cam pump is about to fail."
He said it would cost $3500 to fix. (On a $2000 1978 car)
I said to him "Well that's funny because I just rebuilt this engine about a month ago and don't remember installing that part."
He went bright red and asked if I was a mechanic, to which I said "Actually I'm a aircraft mechanic for a Qantas airways" 🤣

Ok bud.

That last story struck a chord with me. I try to be nice and always give people the benefit of the doubt but 25 years ago while in college I was a debt collector and I got all the sob stories. After a while you realize, sob stories are almost 100% lies to get you off their back. You've destroyed my most cherished illusion; that in Kansas and/or the Midwest things actually work and there's less funny-business.

I used to work for AT&T. Can confirm. Sounds awfully familiar.

Why didn’t the bank write the check to Omega Auto for the $7,000? That was a huge mistake on their part.

People who blow their vehicle repair money gambling is one type of people they make mass transit for.
Simple.

@@phgamer4393 wrong story, this is referring the one where the credit card company paid, then rescinded said payment, you're talking about the gambler
Yeah, I thought the bank bore the cost of credit card fraud, not just taking back whatever money was used to buy goods and services.

National Guard? I had that experience on active duty. So after I was discharged I had no interest in any further contact with any part of the Army.
That second story is just plain sad. Just shows how crazy gambling can make a person.
Degenerate gamblers are the worst
Winning!
he was hoping to win more money so he can pay the bank, the shop, and have some extra money for himself. Luck was not on his side.
Your right. It's sad that that man genuinely thought he would win and pay off the bank.
Main rule of gambling that never changes, the house always wins.
Mrs Wizard your patience and resilience is unsurpassed- dealing with those guys Is something we don’t need - well done and Regards
The college professor being a weirdo is not a glitch, it's a feature. No surprise at all.
Dido ! They clam they so smart . Well they are so smart they are stupid
The Wizard is a Pantera fan. He just keeps getting better.
He's a cowboy from hell
He’s hit a new level of confidence and power.
He has achieved his vulgar display of power.
He's stronger than all.
He'll make you pass the cemetery gates.
Can't imagine how much it must suck dealing with the general public
How about stories about how you finally chose the name of your yacht? Hoovie’s Follies? Tyler’s Tears? Hooptie’s Hope?
This is really interesting Wizard! It is amazing how this denial attitude is becoming so prevalent in society! The previous tenant was horrendous!!
Wtf, didn’t the landlord change the locks between tenants?
Thank you for what you've done wizard for the army, I'm sorry to hear the lack luster experience but the least I can do is show some gratitude to you.
Shout out to CRAZY D ! He's been with you all the way, and I loved his acting in your first few videos. That got me interested in the channel. Great guy !
Agreed i just seen the video where Hoovie gives him the Lincoln Navigator
Wizard, thank you for your active duty service from this USAF vet here! Pretty lousy thing they did to you with that national guard BS.
Thanks for the cool video!
Very glad to have listened in on this episode. Valuable information for new business owners.
It's probably a telephone Co-Op. Financed by federal government 40-year loans @ 2-3% interest.
What a cool bank! I never thought of asking the bank for car repair money!! Glad you didn't get burned on that one Car Wizard!!
No words on that buying the building/tenant story....ridiculous!!!
About time we got some Car Wizard VINwiki stories!! Look forward to it!!
Banks change there policy.they well pay the shop,if u asked them
As far as the tenant of the building not wanting to leave, well once you close on the purchase you're the new owner and you can set the rent. We had a similar situation with a farm we bought, when the tenants found out what the new rent was they left in two days.
my respect for car wizard after hearing he likes pantera 📈📈
And at first, I thought he was talking about a De Tomaso Pantera! 🤣

@@chrispurse3931 my uncle was one of their sound techs/roadies so he was very close with the group.
What tares me up the most is we are witnessing the moral collapse of this great nation. You are heroes. We've got your back.💪🇱🇷
people were always like this, tho!

@Perry Elyod ummm, guess ya never worked on a BMW or Triumph??? British standard tools and Whitworth?

Mr. sticks, yup, I went to the U of hard knocks and bought a 1979? Triumph Bonneville 650 about 1984 in N. California with stripped out nuts and bolts from po... so lucky to find a BMW mechanic and then a motorcycle mentor to set me right, from positive ground to reversed shifter.... only ran smoothly at 80+ mph, and I only had a tach so depended on a buddy biker or hyway patrol to watch my speed, lol.

The whole releasing a phone number is a joke. Its all digital these days. No excuse. Its just companies being corporate.
I knew the truck guy gambled the money. I used to work in car finance and i knew exactly where that story was going. I can tell you the end, that guy NEVER got financing for a pack of gum much less a car ever again in his life. And I've seen it all to often, he's probably dead now.
What are some interesting stories you have coming from the car financing world?
That escalated quickly.
As others have said, some people are just plain evil. They would push the plunger on you if that means that they'll make a buck out of it.
Even here in Europe, we know now that "3-valve engine" is a big no no
I'm surprised they have ford pick up trucks in Europe. i thought the streets were too narrow and the gas mileage too low.
the thing is when you're dealing with total strangers you can never be certain who's lying to you and who's honest
Small business owners have the craziest stories. I can share! Loved seeing Mrs. Car Wiz! You married up ;)
The Phone company wasn't a lie, it was incompetence.
