After 12+ hours of listening to this on repeat, I realize this sounds like 1. The trek if it were a battle theme 2. A genocide version of the trek while searching for Martlet on the rooftop
@@Nate2010 That's a cool concept. Though I think it would make more sense for that run to be on New Home, since the elevator in the Steamworks takes you directly to the entrance of the Core
This sounds like a Genocide equivalent to "Some Point of No Return", Ceroba's Pacifist boss theme before she puts on the mask and the actual final boss begins. Similarly, I could see this used in a battle where Martlet tries to fight us without the DT serum. Of course it'd be easy considering how powerful we've become since Snowdin, but then she could go for the syringe and the actual Genocide final boss begins.
was thinking this exactly, the general vibe of the song compared to remedy pretty well matches up to the some point of no return|a mother’s love split-up
i think the determination leitmotif might be musical confirmation that martlet injected herself with determination during the genocide boss fight. like at this point she will do ANYTHING to take you down, as long as she can prevent you from causing any more harm to others
"Surrender now and I will disarm it" "But if you do not, I will be forced to DENONATE The device" "Killing us bo-" *Clover shots the bomb, disarming it...somehow" "You Edgy Bitch" "THAT WAS A REAL BOMB YOU MANIC"
I could see this being used if Zenith Martlet had one long final attack before dying. Kinda like Disbelief Papyrus with all these hopeful yet desperate emotions that they will win or that they can get through you with their good intentions, except Martlet is actually trying to kill you while melting to death. I can even envision Martlet memories flashing through the screen as the song plays and she throws all these different attacks one last time.
It doesn't really fit the mood for Martlet's second phase ("Final stand" seems to imply that usage) as well as Retribution, but it's still really cool. I especially love the use of the Determination motif, which is adjusted to be very similar to Protocol, nice touch. Kinda wish we still had that in Retribution, or Remedy for that matter.
honestly my idea for this would be martlet is still melting but in phase 3, instead of just dying they stay alive as even once melted they survive such strong determination as they have the boss monster gene, allowing martlet to hold on for longer. martlet is even stronger than before and as the fight goes on they start to distort more and more changing from a normal appearance to looking like a amalgamate. (you see what i did there?) once defeated you shoot 3 shots and so, martlet falls off into a endless pit.
This is definitely and early version of Retribution, likely because of the many justice motifs and enemy retreating motifs in it. Similar to Retribution. After all, Marlets phase 2 is her Final Stand.
It sounds like a remix you would find on youtube instead of something that would actually come from the soundtrack, if that makes sense. I can see why they cut it
i think theres a phase 3 that only will be surviving(you cant press any button, just control your soul at the box) and marlet will be trying to kill us with all the attacks that she used, like undyne in neutral route(if you kill she, she will try to kill us with determination) and this could by possible with this leitmotif (0:58)
I actually looked through the music files to make ADOFAI levels with on day 1 or 2 of the game's release, before the soundtrack came on youtube and without knowing that it was on the Gamejolt page [ADOFAI is some rhythm game I play, not really important for this], I proceeded to find this, thought "oooh I could make a cool level with this one" and didn't even REALIZE it was unused. It sounds like a pre-phase version of Remedy fighting her before she injects herself. Sounds a lot more complete than the other Unused songs. At this point I hadn't even PLAYED Genocide [I still haven't. I don't wanna kill everyone after playing pacifist, and I'm also VERY scared of Flowey in neutral from the bit i've seen so i'm not planning on playing that either-]
I'd actually recommend playing Neutral at least until the final boss, because Steamworks changes a lot as long as you kill before you enter that area and it's really cool (any kill will do. A random Dark Ruins Flier, El Bailador, Starlo if you're a terrible person)
Are you able to reset before the final boss...? Also I'll do the random flier, I don't have it in me to kill El Bailidor [one of my favorite non-main bosses] and especially not Starlo. @@starkeeper_youtube
Dang if this were a little more fleshed out I think I'd prefer it to Remedy. Already prefer it to Retribution Metal is not my thing at all though so I'm very biased
I like to imagine this as one really long final attack post phase 2, and she instead of melting during phase 2, instead slowly melts during this final attack
There are some motiffs of Martlets theme but it doesnt sound like a genocide theme, Asgore's theme motiff can also be heard Based on that and the name I feel like this would have played on the Asgore "fight" on the flawed pacifist ending, maybe originally it was posible tp win that fight but the idea was scrapped
But we also hear Enemy Retreating from 0:25 to 0:48, so maybe there was going to be a proper Asgore fight in the genocide route if this music wasn't intended for Martlet?
@@exi_m7074 Dramatically; I can't hear Asgore's main motif, and if people are referring to the Determiation melody.... that's. probably here because Martlet injected herself with Determination. Though even if it was a direct Asgore reference it makes perfect sense in this battle, since that's who she's trying to protect.
A lot of people are wondering whether this was beta Remedy, beta Retribution, or a separate Martlet fight entirely (or Asgore for some reason?? Guys it blares Martlet's motif right in your face the moment you hit play) My theory is that it was a beta version of _both_ Remedy and Retribution -- I think the original idea was a single-phase fight, and it was scrapped and reworked into two separate themes when they decided there was going to be a Phase 2.
this honestly sounds like an undertale version of the darkest lord's theme from miitopia cool new au idea: martlet injected herself with determination but clover had aborted the genocide route so she accidentally goes zenith right before heading back to snowdin with clover and the final boss is a slightly more toned down zenith martlet instead of flowey
Its not per se for asgore. This part of asgore is a remix of determination (undertales game over theme) and since zenith injectes herself with DT thats provably what its refrencing
my guess is that they were planning phase 3 for martlet but they decided that it'd be too cringe and for once they did something right (yeah undertale yellow is perfect the only problem is too much phases i was just being negative cuz why not)
Thank you, gen 3 Pokémon, for inventing trumpets

UNDERTALE: YELLOW OST - "Last Opportunity To Turn Back."
I think it was supposed to be for Asgore, by just the fact that half of the track is just Asgore's theme
this honestly sounds like it would fit Geno Martlet for pre-fight music. Although i guess it's just early version of Remedy
Doubtful, this was likely a replacement retribution, it even uses the same general structure and letimotifs.

Song That Might Play When You Fight Martlet
[ *Martlet of the Royal Guard challenges you to a Pokémon fight! ]
I can kinda see this playing in place of Retribution, but I can also see why it was replaced (if that’s even where this was going to be)
It's structurally the same as and carries many of the same leitmotifs that retribution has
Even the melody is reminiscent, it's just sped up to fuck
