  • Creed II, the second Michael B. Jordan film in the Rocky franchise, is pretty darn good. Since the third one is coming out soon, we thought we'd go count the sins of part 2.
    Thursday: sports sins.
    Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

    One thing I really liked about Creed II is how it made Ivan and Viktor Drago three-dimensional and sympathetic antagonists. And the boxing matches were really well done. The theater where I was watching REALLY got into it, complete with loud cheering.

      For sure. They could have made them stereotypical villains like they did with Ivan in Rocky IV, but they didn't, and the movie is so much better for it. I especially love the facial expressions in the second fight, all culminating in Ivan throwing in the towel to protect his son. Then he even hugs his son and sticks with him instead of abandoning him like everyone else and like everyone abandoning him all those years ago.

      Yep. Again turning a villain into a human, because Americans will not accept that some people (e.g. millionaires, politicians) are narcissistic sociopaths, and they want to believe that they are really softeys under it all. That would make Adonis too old then. Remember, the Rocky franchise goes back to like 76. Stallone is in his mid 70s now. That would put Adonis in his late 30s early 40s if he was a premarital baby.

      I don't know why people are so down on this... we're HUMAN BEINGS. We're not fucking perfect. It's worth remembering that Apollo bullied Rocky into doing a re-match with him in Rocky 2. He became good friends with Rocky and his family, but he had his own flaws. It's not beyond fathoming that he let his own fame/ego get to him, and gave in to a hot babe while he was touring.

      @@thecunninlynguist Apollo's charisma was undeniable, but he was still an egotistical, narcissistic prick which put himself second to none when it came to his own whims. He was the best at what he did and showed real care and affection for his close ones, but he was in no means a paragon of virtue. Him having an affair, especially as we see him portrayed in IV, is absolutely in-character.

      **SPOILERS**
      Mary Anne's funeral would have been a great opportunity to show Rocky comforting Adonis, as he knew Mary Anne for a long time and likely would have wanted to come.
      Another idea was to show a clip at the end of Rocky watching Adonis fight Damian on TV with Robert and his grandson. Pan the camera over the back of a lay-z boy chair, then pan around to his face and have him say "you did good kid".

    • @gnranger
      @gnranger Год назад +1

      @@nahor88 Dude, it’s not MBJ’s fault. Sly is mad at Irwin Winkler and his son David over the rights to the Rocky franchise. Winkler made him give up the rights to Rocky before Rocky I if Sly ever wanted to cast as Rocky(Winkler did this to Sly at a time when he was deep in poverty). Sly has only ever made his cut of the movie profits if he’s in them, he doesn’t get anything else from the whole franchise he created. So he’s said he won’t be in any other Creed/Rocky movies if Irwin and David are involved or he gets some of the rights, which he wants for his children when he passes.
