TREATMENTS: Received or currently Receiving
2021: 8 Rounds of Chemotherapy (Carboplatin and Paclitaxel) with 30 concurrent radiation treatments to chest and lung
Failed Immunotherapy directly after Chemo and Radiation (Durvalumab, 1 round)
2022: Chemotherapy
10 rounds of Chemotherapy (Carboplatin, Alimta, and Avastin)
6 with Carboplatin, 4 without
Targeted Brain Radiation (Completed)

Whole Brain and Spine Proton Therapy (Radiation) 13 sessions

The purpose of my channel is to document my cancer journey to look back on, and/or help anyone else going through anything similar. It is also to potentially help loved ones supporting those who are in this fight as well. This is also an easy way to update a lot of people at once. My main goal is to have footage of this journey for my husband and children to look back on. I originally created this channel as a sort of video diary for my
family.

Ok Kyle where in cases where you lose a loved one some people will react by over scheduling to avoid the pain. It was suggested that you really focus on the grieving process, get your social contacts up, your support group so you can start moving forward.,Makes sense. Make a list of priorities as what has to be done and what you would like to add later into your routine. I think over scheduling helps you to not be doing what one thing you need to be really doing,grieving . Some get over grief and some don’t. On this list be honest about what actions can wait until later and what can’t. In order for this to work daily do not create a tight timeline for yourself. On the other hand leave some daily time wiggle room for the dog to get sick or the washer breaks. Lay out a basic schedule and some time slots to put in something else not in your schedule. I suggest once a week few hours just you and the kids do the simple like a tailgate picnic to the park, fly a kite, look for rocks and bugs, lay on your backs and look for faces on the clouds. Your kids have only about the next 7years or so when they will want to be with their friends. I have raised my kids and helped raise their kids. Goes fast.
I am a grief therapist. One form grief takes is being extra tired. I am sure you all know about that. The body holds the grief and it can become exhausting. You all are learning to pace yourselves. To live life in a new way you never would have chosen.
You are an amazing dad. Your children are so dear. It was hard on all of us when Jenny bid farewell. You all are very loved. Praying for you.

This one was very inspiring to watch. I've lost my twin to breast cancer. She was too young to go. Only 38 years old. Jenny reminded me of my sister. We scattered her ashes in Oregon because she loved the coast and the trees there. Been dragging my feet in grief, not sure how to keep moving forward, or how to live without my twin being here, but seeing this makes me want to get up and start living and doing things again. My 7 year old son loves Starbucks. I think i'll take him to Starbucks, it's been a while! So thank you Kyle and Jenny!

I think my sadness loosing my husband the same time as loosing jenny I feel better when I watch you feeling good even if it's just 10 minutes a day it's still better than feeling sad all day thank you Appleford family 😊😊😊

Kyle please don't ever doubt yourself or wonder if you are making Jenny proud. I can promise you that you are 100% making Jenny super proud. I know the days without Jenny are hard to say the least but you are pushing forward and doing such an awesome job with everything.
Kyle - I heard this saying a few years back and deeply believe it in - it goes like "God Always Compensates". I pray that all of you only come across kind, genuine, compassionate people. On a separate note, know that Jenny is protecting you all from above, and that she is always, always really there with you all. So grateful that Brad and Ashley are there for you on this journey. These videos are such an infusion of humanity. Just everything together, the joyful and the tearful, the easy and the difficult, the light and dark, but through all of it we see such pure souls. After being on the Internet just 30 minutes everything can seem so twisted and perverse, but then a new video from the Appleford family comes along and just roots us into a grounded reality.
I absolutely love the son's excitement about the gear racks on a pick up being used to make a blanket fort for a drive in movie.. what a beautiful imagination.

10 months this month since my Husband passed, and somehow life goes on. Some days bad, some not so bad. You are such an amazing Dad Kyle,we all just gotta hang in there. Glad you are still doing the videos.
Ten years since my husband died, some days are still difficult.
@@98849 We don't ever "get over" losing someone we love, do we? Even years later, the sadness can feel so fresh. You just kind of learn to live with it. I am so grateful for the happy memories, though! That is something that can never be taken away.

I was REALLY glad when you mentioned that one of Ellis’ former teachers let him stay in her room some after school! I’m a retired, former Elem. teacher myself. I remember how hard it was for some kids to transition to After School Care after years of going home after school!!! Ellis seems to be SUCH a sweet and sensitive young man! One who might find it difficult in After Care. It’s harder when you don’t go to After Care from the time you first begin school, day 1! Some students find that the situation is very loud, overwhelming and some are VERY aggressive! I remember letting a few students “help” me after school when I knew After Care was hard for them. My heart goes out to your precious Ellis! I’m so happy you and his former teacher are giving him a break from After Care. After all he’s been through, he needs a calm and peaceful place to go after school. 😊 Call me an old, softy of a teacher if you want to! 😉 HA! I am! ❤🙏🏻

Give them grace. Grief is hard. If they have a bad day or appear off, keep them home. Their schools should understand. It hasnt been that long yet. They are going to be sad for a long time.

Dad is doing a great job and I have to say Kyle, loving the fun positive attitude and content, even though inside hurts so much. Hi Kyle, another good video. Yes, Phillips is a great brand, good choice. On the late nights for kids I have a suggestion. It’s important kids get the proper amount of rest. As a mom of 3 I can attest to that. Perhaps on the nights you have groups you should consider finding a babysitter in your neighborhood. One you vet well and meet their family. There are online apps that provide pics and experience of sitters as well as locations. If you know neighbors you can ask around. Kids do very well with perhaps a girl in the neighborhood who provides childcare. They will have fun and get to bed on time so they won’t be tired at school. It will also relieve your family so their kids can get to bed on time. I was a parenting coordinator for a large church and I taught parents the number one reason children struggle or fail is due to not keeping to a strict sleeping schedule. Your doing an amazing job and I felt the need to give you options to continue the care you need while providing the essential care and rest your children need. Much love.

Kyle, I'm thankful that you've found Grief Share and are working through the grief process. Facing it head on really helps get through the really hard parts. Hire a babysitter to be with the kids while you're in group and bible study. Ask the others in these groups if they have college-age girls at home or even aunts or grandmas. In any event, the kids would be home on those evenings. Also, it was a precious moment to see Ellis smile and be playful. When I saw that, I could swear I was looking at Jenny.

I was painting some rocks earlier for the Appleford family. Then I saw this video. 😁. I felt so calm and happy as I painted. It felt like Jenny was sending positive vibes to me as I painted. I have to say that in the past couple of videos, I was surprised by how much Ellis and Winnie have grown (probably because I’ve been rewatching some of Jenny’s videos, where the kids were younger) but nonetheless, they are really growing!
I really loved the look Ellis had on his face when you were dancing in the truck. I’ve received that same look from my kids many times over the years.

Kyle, you need your grief group. I know from my experience like yours. Kids are very resilient. You have an overwhelming support system to use.

Kyle why not find a neighborhood babysitter for nights you’ll be a little late? When I was a kid I’d be so excited when the babysitter was coming because she’d play Barbies, we had pizza, etc. it was a treat! Babysitter can have them ready for bed when you get home, no running in so many directions, etc.

Kyle, speaking from experience sometimes the children will have quiet moments when they are reflecting on their mama. Not to say this was the case this morning, but they will at times have their moments also, missing her and wishing she was with them, just as you have those moments so will your babies. BTW, you are doing a fabulous job with them, Jenny is beaming with pride❤❤❤
