    Update for Pearl Mimic Pro:
    With the latest Firmware Update, you can explicitly select the Lemon 18" as Ride Cymbol in the Trigger Settings. With that, there is no issue with Bell/Edge being exchanged and it works perfectly fine.

    Hello from New York, Luke! Another stellar review. I own one 16" Lemon. And, as a pearl mimic user, I did NOT have to swap out the connector. The 16" triggers ok as a crash. And I use an ATV 18" as a ride. But, for the price, I'm definitely going to purchase a lemon 18" and use it for... well, something. Thank you again for all you do!

    I ordered the same 18" Lemon cymbal and connected it to my Yamaha DTX-Pro. The bell was also switched with the ride sensor so I opened-up the bottom and swapped the ribbon cables. The bell is now the bell and ride now the ride, however, there is no choke function to the cymbal. Will figure out how to re-wire the choke within time. CHEERS!

    I use 2 lemon 18" as main crashes left and right with my TD50X. They're really very good, well balanced, not heavy, and perfectly sensible. I even prefer them to the CY14C that I had before. I was hesitating with ATV 16" crashes, but for the price, I wanted to make a trial. And I had an excellent idea ! ;-)

    I commented on the other Lemon Video but they must have taken your advice on the packaging bc I got one today from Alibaba and it came with a medium/hard foam piece in the packaging, also came with a rotation stopper in the box. Delivered to USA was $97 USD. It did come reversed wired, but took about 2 minutes to switch - using the TD-30KV.

    Just got mine today. I've noticed if I choke it in a certain spot it triggers a bell sound no matter where I hit it next. I just moved the ride a little so I don't choke it in that spot but it's weird. Other than that it works perfectly. Had to switch the wire around but it took 10 minutes.

      Sadly, the thing continued to trigger the bell on the edge, randomly. No matter what I did, swapping the cable, fiddling with the trigger, nothing worked.
      I decided to try another because well, why not. I can always use 18” crashes…it arrived, same thing. Nothing was able to rectify the weird triggering.
      And mine showed up like yours, in a wrecked box. The worst part, was the seller would not do anything about the issue. He kept asking for a video of the problem, which would not upload. Sad, but I got 2 inexpensive 18” crashes.
      I did also buy a 15” yesterday from a dude on eBay. See how that works.
      The connector cable was fine, because the bell would trigger, and the bow was fine. Just sporadically, the edge would trigger the bell. Very weird.

    I’m trying to save some money and upgrade my TD -9 to a T -27.
    Out of the three inputs that I can save money by NOT going digital, what would you recommend? The ride?
    I’m thinking I definitely want the digital snare.
    Second, would be the digital hi hat.
    Change my mind!

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  3 года назад +1

      It's difficult to say, really. I do personally find the snare improvements the best, so agree that it should be the priority. If you can get a good deal on getting the module together with pads, the ride is really good, but I suppose it depends how you use it. I haven't used the digital hats so can't really say whether they're better or worse in terms of improvements until I've tested them.

    I mean, I use an Audiofront eDrumIn10 module and I modified the cymbal to a single output 3 zone Yamaha style ride.
    Maybe that is the reason for that behavior, I don't no, what is changed in the modules input change, when switching from 2 zone cymbal to 3 zone Yamaha style.

    What did you use for your clutch setup for your lemon hat? I couldn't fit a regular rotation stopper on my clutch and it feels kind of stiff. Also, are you using a VH-10 or a Lemon sensor?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  3 года назад +1

      It's just an old Yamaha hi-hat clutch, standard acoustic one. I just pushed it through. It's got rubber washers though rather than felt which helps stop any rotation. And I'm just using a Roland FD-7 pedal, not a moving/hi-hat stand controller!

    • @gordonjeffrey8616
      @gordonjeffrey8616 3 года назад

      @@TheeDrumWorkshop Do the rubber washers allow it to sway? I've realized my favourite part of the VH-10, is the level of sway on the clutch, and the softness of the rubber of the cymbal. The louder Lemon rubber is much more apparent with the constant striking of the hat. I'm hoping that with some give from a different clutch setup the noise will be reduced.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, it does sway quite a bit. If you watch my eDW Originals Premium videos or my PA vs Headphones video, you can see that it moves quite a lot. I don't think the swaying really reduces the noise though.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop

      They're the Tama Quick Set Cymbal Mate (QC8). I've used them for years on my acoustic kit and they're really handy as you can just push the buttons together and take them straight off. They work with any cymbals but they do only fit on 8mm posts, not the thinner 6mm ones that some kits come with, so you might need to check your stands if you wanted to get any.

    What do you mean at 11:42 ? You said you couldn't make it to work with the bell sens function. What does this function do? In the seconds before that, it seemed like the Lemon Ride would work properly using the edrumin10 besides pos. sensing? Does pos. sensing not work with the Lemon Ride and the edrumin10? And does positional sensing work on the edrumin10 using the Roland CY15r?

    • @SchwappSchwopp
      @SchwappSchwopp 2 года назад

      Did a bit of research, so bell sens means that you can connect a 3 zone via only 1 stereo cable to the edrumin, right? But still no idea about the pos. sensing

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      Yes, that's what bell sense is - the ability for the eDRUMin to tell that you're hitting the bell without using the bell switch in the cymbal. It only works properly on certain cymbals. There are preset bell sense modes for the CY-8, CY-12C, CY-13R and CY-15R (the CY-12C one is a recent addition) - how well it works with other brand cymbals varies though as the cymbals are all constructed differently. I believe Rob (the creator) can only really update things to work well with different pads depending on whether or not he has access to them, understandably.
      The PS feature for cymbals has only been added on the latest software/firmware version, so it wasn't a feature when I made this review. It does work now and apparently it should work great on Roland cymbals. I haven't tested the feature yet so I don't know how well it works on Lemon cymbals. There is a forum for the eDRUMin on the Audiofront website where people often post the results of their testing with other brands, go have a look - audiofront.net/forum/
      I did do a pretty massive eDRUMin review on the channel that explained things like the Bell Sense feature - if you haven't seen it, I'd recommend watching, but it was made on a previous software version and many improvements have been made and features have been added since.

    • @SchwappSchwopp

  • @dwg1982

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  3 года назад

      No, you won't be able to just combine the two signals together and expect it to work properly, unfortunately. What module is it? There is a specific cable that is sold by Zourman that can combine the two Roland-style ride outputs into a single one specifically for Yamaha modules, but it's not a cheap cable as it has a resister wired into it. That should also work for other modules like the Mimic that can accept Yamaha wiring, but other modules might not be able to accept that method.

      You can't connect any USB pads to the Alesis Strike, no. There is a "workaround" using a USB MIDI Host that makes them work in some way with other modules, but it's limited (I have a video about it on the channel) and I haven't actually tried it with the Strike. Definitely not worth doing, in my opinion due to the limitations and cost - you'll get better results with a good "analog" ride.

      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      They do indeed! As a 3 zone ride if you're not using the digital ride/another ride already, or as a 2 zone crash.

  • @alyssonerlandsson
    @alyssonerlandsson 3 года назад

    What you think about using as crash?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  3 года назад +1

      I mention that it works well as a crash in the review! That's how I will use it, I think, because I have other ride cymbals for the job. The only thing I would say is that it's quite chunky for a crash cymbal - it's pretty tough when you hit it hard, so using it on an angle and making sure you use "glancing blows" is the best way!

    wil they work on the 2box module ?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад +1

      Yes, I've used mine with the DrumIt 5 MKII, should work with the 3 as well. There's a very brief demo of it on my 2Box DrumIt 5 MKII review in the Triggering section. Not sure if the original 5 module supports 2 cable Roland-style rides though.

      @@TheeDrumWorkshop thanks. but i am going to buy the roland td 27 module and digital snare and ride. i love my 2box sounds and tom sounds but snare and hihat triggering is a never ending struggle. i hate the roland sounds but the triggering is the best of the best. i am happy to come back to you when everything is up and running.

      You're right, I meant to say "sold by", not "made by" but I'd already finished the edit. Similar situation to Jobeky with their branded ones, but presumably just using the "unbranded" cymbal option when ordering. Should've known someone would pick up on it 😂

    Yeah the bell sense feature of the edrumin works only with roland cymbals and even with them is not 100% accurate, wirh any other cymbal is hit or miss…

    It's compatible with yamaha module?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      As far as I know, you wouldn't be able to get 3 zones out of it on a Yamaha module because they use different wiring. It would probably work as a 2 zone cymbal (bow and edge), but I don't have a Yamaha module to confirm that.

    • @alvinrhodes1534

      For the yamaha module, it can only have 2 zones, can the sound produced be bow and bell?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      As I said, I don't have a Yamaha module so I don't know for sure. I think you can usually assign any sound to any zone on Yamaha modules, but you would need to check the manual of the module you have/are looking at to confirm!

    How loud are these cymbals compared to Roland ones? I don't want to piss off my family.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      I'd say they're a little louder on the bow/edge because the rubber isn't quite as soft as Roland's, but maybe not quite as loud on the bell zone because it doesn't have a much plastic directly below the bell rubber. I made a video a bit ago that might help with some context for noise levels when compared to other 18" rides -
