First note, & instantly you know it’s Carlos Santana. Nobody can make the guitar sing like Carlos. This & Samba Pa Ti never fail to give me chills. Thank you guys!
Europa is one of those super deep feels songs that only Carlos could play, he's trying to connect to the universe. Long long long ago in college, we used to say a great day was to sit in the sun, drink Lambrusco, smoke pot and listen to Santana. This song is one of the reasons why. Great music and simpler times.
And that my friends is why the name of the band is Santana! Some people don’t understand why it’s his name since he’s not usually singing, every note is unmistakably his 🔥
😁❤️🤩 When I was in my early twenties my favorite songs were all instrumentals: E,W, & F : Sun Goddess Santana: Europa Allman Brothers: In memory of Elizabeth Reed & Jessica 😇
I LOVE this song. Santana is a master at evoking moods. This one is so romantic and chill then builds to the climax with those long notes. Brings back a lot of memories.🍂🍃Thanks so much guys for this reaction!❤
Absolutely my favorite Santana song! His playing is so strong and crisp!! Truly a magician with a guitar! You guys are setting up another great weekend !!
Santana the band, Santana the solo artist, Santana the collaborator… Blues for Salvador, A Love Supreme, Soul Sacrifice.. You won’t find a bad cut if Carlos is involved… 1968 to now… 56 years of 🔥
You can't go wrong with Santana. I've seen him in Miami twice. This song Is special to close your eyes and lay your head back. So smooth. First note, and you know it's Carlos.❤
Great choice. Saw him in concert this summer and when he started in on this piece I had chills. And as with the studio version, the bass held everything together. The combination of emotion and virtuosity was thrilling.
It’s a great album! He’s actually covering Gato Barbieri’s song! Gato is a Latin saxophonist and is amazing to hear this song on saxophone! They actually play together on this song, if you get a chance check it out! Europa is an amazing album! Dance sister dance is another great song from album! He was expanding into jazz influences on this album! This song tops my list for Santana songs! Chiguy!
My favorite Santana. 💜💜💜 Saw him live 8/23/2002 at a large outdoor venue just outside Chicago. Nothing like a warm summer evening with live Carlos. (The Gato Barbieri saxophone version is excellent also.)
First time I played Amigos in 1976 and reached this track I thought man this could go all night, still feel the same now, an absolutely stunning piece of music from a master stylist.
GREAT reaction gents!! Absolutely no mistaking that this is Santana...he has that sound! The Latin groove always makes me want to move! What I love about Santana, sure it's his name, but it's a complete, cohesive band - sum of all parts is what makes them great! Bass, drums, keys...vocals when there are, it's all there! This made my Friday!! Cheers!
First off... You two & your channel are da bomb! Love your work. I've seen Santana twice. One of my all-time favourite bands. The best version of this track (in my humble opinion) is off the double live album titled: Moonflower. Worthy of a deep-dive and a MUST HAVE album!
I’ve listened to all these songs for decades but when I see other people experience them for the first time, I get chills and a brand new appreciation. Damn
There is no one like Carlos . He encapsulates Latin emotion and passion . It can’t be bought or faked . You either have it or you don’t . I saw him in a small club in a Hispanic neighbourhood in the 70’s and it was like he was playing for family . I will never forget it .
I always thought this would be the perfect dance song at a wedding reception. The couple would dance until it sped up, then during the fast part they would run to the car and take off.
howdy guys, if you take one piece of advice please react to Europa on the Moonflower album it,s a live version , when you hear it ,it will be the only version you will ever want to hear, it is absolutely mind blowing, I see some of the comments have already commented on this , please .please please, it,s eargasam ecstasy, no joke, always love your guys reaction, been with you from the start, peace
I lobbied you fellas for this one a loooong time ago; glad you got here. Check out “Song of the Wind”, from the album “Caravansarai”, to continue this glorious instrumental journey that is Carlos Santana. Roll up!
Ok Guys This song was Covered by a very famous South American Jazz Saxophonist. His name is Gato Barbieri. And when you hear it played on his Sax. As he has a very distinct sound. He makes the sax growl. It will touch your soul. My Late Wife and I. Well we shared some very beautiful slow dances and moments to this song. But once again by Gato. Check it out for yourselves. It’s an extremely famous cover in Jazz Circles. My cousins actually knew him. He really gave this beautiful song. The opportunity to meet the Jazz listeners. Carlos loved Gato’s version. And so this song had the opportunity of having dual lives. I’ll drop a link for you. For your own enjoyment ❤
Seen Gato live in a bar in Orlando about a year after this album came out and the prick only played about 30 seconds of this song, claimed he was sick of playing it. Wanted my money back, didn't get it.
Santana is very driven when it comes to the music and the sound he wants to put out there. He’s kind of a perfectionist. He always has great musicians. It really comes through, doesn’t it?
Seeing Santana live in the early ‘80’s in the 12th row of a 300 seat venue was not only a life changing experience, it left me unable to be impressed by mere metal shredding ETA: Check out the live from South America album
I’ve heard a few stories regarding the origin of the song .The beginning portion is something he came up with to calm down a friend who was suffering from a bad drug trip and and many years later, he was playing it backstage before a concert with Earth, Wind & Fire and they suggested he make a song out of it. Not sure if it’s true but pretty cool if it is.
A classic like his version of Black Magic Woman. The bassist was btw David Brown, the same guy that started with the group and played with them in Woodstock. He came back to Santana in 74. This song was HUGE in Switzerland. As a child I was not really in contact with rock music as my parents were very classical and brass oriented. But this song was everywhere. Only with Maria Maria he landed a Nr 1 hit in our country - a quarter of a century later - and it's the only one that was a bigger success than Europa.
Hello fellas hope all is well with you and yours. This is one of my favourite santana tracks and one of the first songs by him I learned to play . I have not played it for a while and your reaction vid has inspired me to put the backing track on turn up my guitar amp to 11 and piss of my neighbours in a quarter mile radius. All my best to you and yours from Liverpool ❤
First note, & instantly you know it’s Carlos Santana. Nobody can make the guitar sing like Carlos. This & Samba Pa Ti never fail to give me chills. Thank you guys!
Europa was on the album Amigos and the live version from Moonflower is heavenly.
La & Che, consider Santana - Caravanserai as your next vinyl purchase, it's sublime
Absolutely! I was just coming on here to suggest that, Song of the wind is just amazing, Carlos and Neil shon going at it
Carlos does not just play the music….he becomes the music. From the soul.
Europa and Samba Pa Ti are my favorite Santana tunes.
Agreed!!! His full instrumental tracks are just phenomenal!
Samba pa ti was the first song I tried to use as an element of seduction as a young teen, early 70s 😊
"She's Not There" ranks in the top 3 for me.
and Guajira !
This has been played at most of the Mexican-American wedding and quinceanera dances I've been to since the mid-70's. 🎸
You guys are so on point. His guitar has such a vocal, crying quality - no one else does it like Carlos.
Please get the Moonflower version of this extended and the sustain by Carlos is amazing ❤
No one does sustain on a guitar like Carlos. A master.
You guys need to be in a live audience when he plays this stuff. It’s 3 hours of goosebumps!
Santanas note sustains are his hallmark. That guitar always told a story fire 🔥
And that my friends is why the name of the band is Santana! Some people don’t understand why it’s his name since he’s not usually singing, every note is unmistakably his 🔥
😁❤️🤩
When I was in my early twenties my favorite songs were all instrumentals:

The cover of this by Gato Barbieri on the alto sax is pure magic.
That was my late wife’s and our song. ❤
Glad that you mentioned this! I was just going to. 😊
Absolutely my favorite Santana song! His playing is so strong and crisp!! Truly a magician with a guitar! You guys are setting up another great weekend !!
Santana at his finest!! ❤
Guys listen to the version on MOONFLOWER extended and the tone wow
A song to share with in my case The Woman I Loved. She’s gone now, but I can close my eyes and go right back to those many moments. ❤
This song

Chose this song for the father daughter dance at my daughters wedding.
Every time I hear this it brings a tear to my eye.
One of my wedding songs..1983...two years later I got to meet him. The Band opened for Santana and I landed back stage passes. Awsome.
It’s a great album! He’s actually covering Gato Barbieri’s song! Gato is a Latin saxophonist and is amazing to hear this song on saxophone! I believe Carlos wrote this song with Tom Coster and Gato covered it beautifully on his Caliente! album. Not sure version I love more.......
Santana's Amigos is one of the greatest albums ever made. You HAVE to own it!
I was fortunate enough to see this performed live here in Nashville in the spring of 1976. Wet Willie and Head East were the opening acts.
Having grown up in the 60's and 70's, this was always my favorite Santana song. Many of my friends too.
Thanks for this one, my very favorite from Santana!
Seen Santana numerous times and my top concerts ever ! One of the few artists that seeing live can duplicate that sound perfectly !
Totally agree with this being one of the best songs ever. EVER.
Master of the clean guitar
This is simply ear candy at its finest. Great reaction, you guys 'get it'.
A whole Guitar Master Class, in one song
This was on Moonflower I recall, bought the album back in 1978
My favorite Santana. 💜💜💜 Saw him live 8/23/2002 at a large outdoor venue just outside Chicago. Nothing like a warm summer evening with live Carlos. (The Gato Barbieri saxophone version is excellent also.)

Nobody but nobody performs instrumentals with as much fire and frequency as Santana
That goes on the Anytime playlist...

This was by far, Santana's masterpiece. So many great songs by Carlos but this one evokes so much emotion.
That is some sweet baby making music. Carlos is so smooth.
It doesn't get any better than that !! First time I saw these guys was in 82" they came out and used this as their Encore !
You guys really understand music. Love your apreciations. I feel like hearing things for the first time listen your comments.
Same!
I’ve listened to all these songs for decades but when I see other people experience them for the first time, I get chills and a brand new appreciation. Damn
What tone. What a musician. One of my favorite pieces.
His guitar paints a beautiful picture!
I've had the extreme pleasure of seeing Carlos Live 4 times over 5 decades. He did this song twice. A HUGE crowd favorite... you now know why.
This album is sensational. Thank you for reviewing this! You two are the best!
I remember hearing this at high school dance and cinsenieras back in the 70s and Santana was my first concert back then too nice
There is no one like Carlos . He encapsulates Latin emotion and passion . It can’t be bought or faked . You either have it or you don’t . I saw him in a small club in a Hispanic neighbourhood in the 70’s and it was like he was playing for family . I will never forget it .
It really is a fantastic song!!!
I love this number, gives me goosebumps, every time hearing this.
I can also recommend their song : Love you much too much. I'm sure you will like it.
Life isn't long enough to hear this one more time😊
Saw them perform this on acid in London at Hammersmith . Blew my head off
Perfect song for this Friday morning, thanks guys!

My brothers from a different mother come through again. Love you guys.
Part 1 = Earth's cry. Part 2 = Heaven's smile.
I saw Santana in Atlanta in late 70’s and again in the 90’s. Excellent live!
Love Santana...bass player is killing it too
All I have to say is MORE!! Thank you 😂
I saw him in concert many years ago and this was my favorite.
my very most favorite
Santana is very driven when it comes to the music and the sound he wants to put out there. He’s kind of a perfectionist. He always has great musicians. It really comes through, doesn’t it?
Soulful and oh-so beautiful…Carlos always brings it. ❤ Cross-genre, cross-generational, cross-cultural.
Love Santana, glad you're enjoying the musical journey..
One of my favorite albums is Welcome, it's not played too often...but it is an experience!
One of THE best to ever do it...!
Check out "WINNING", "WHY DON'T YOU AND I" and "PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON"
Good review. Moonflower is a masterpiece.
It won't let me put a thumbs up but I absolutely love this tune 😮
Santanas playing is a religious experience. So Spiritual.
You guys made my day...THANK YOU 🙏
Now this is what you call Music
As a 15 yo when l brought Amigos the album, he saved me
Seeing Santana live in the early ‘80’s in the 12th row of a 300 seat venue was not only a life changing experience, it left me unable to be impressed by mere metal shredding
ETA: Check out the live from South America album
That song and Mi par ti are 2 of my favorites. Great reaction
Classic
Masterpiece of a song . Dance sister dance is great also
He brings out your inner emotions
top line , a real classic
Europa lyrics ...Woke up this morning ... :)
I’ve heard a few stories regarding the origin of the song .The beginning portion is something he came up with to calm down a friend who was suffering from a bad drug trip and and many years later, he was playing it backstage before a concert with Earth, Wind & Fire and they suggested he make a song out of it. I read that Europa was inspired by a girl on bad mescaline trip. Rumored to be.
It's beautiful, thank you.
This song and Gato Barbieri Europa are both relaxing Santana is a guitar and Barbieri's is a Saxophone
