I'm 65 and back in my day we had no problem listening and grooving to instrumentals. Today's kids would run away from home if you made them listen to a song with no lyrics. Late 1960s Santana through the Supernatural album was when Carlos was my absolute favorite guitarist.
Over the years I have seen Santana "Live" literally dozens of times and travelled thousands of miles in the process, but on this UK tour (1976) I was able to watch the band perform, only 100 metres or so from where I'm sitting right now, at the De Montfort Hall, Leicester. A memorable gig that had me in tears at times!
Carlos is one of the greatest, and at 77 he’s still going strong. I Have seen him live 6 of the past 7 years in Vegas and other venues in So. Cal. He puts on one of the best concerts ever. He has a lot of great songs. You should dedicate a week to his music. Also Santana is one of the few bands that sound as good or better live. This song for example, at the House of Blues in Vegas is several notches above, and of course he’s tweaked it a bit over the years….Just great acoustic also make it better…Great reaction!
Back in the seventies me and my friends used to ride around for hours listening to Carlos Santana. Haven't heard this song for maybe 30 years and still remember every single note. Thanks
Possibly foreshadowing my love of jazz, when I was a teenager, most of my favorite songs were instrumentals … Among them were “Europa” and EW& F’s “Sun Goddess “ and the Allman Brothers “In memory of Elizabeth Reed” & “Jessica” 🤩😊
TIERRA - "" Together [Original STEREO] "" 4:55 Minutes Unedited FULL LENGTH SONG.// Soul Jazz / R&B / Soft Rock from 1981 Highly recommend this song. Heard it on R&B SOUL Radio Stations back in the 1990s & 2000's and Now on Y.T. Great Vocals and Amazing Music 🎶🎸🎹💯🔥
As soon as I saw the title my morning coffee just got a whole lot better. He is so at one with his guitar, so smooth, so beautiful and so very cool. Thanks for another awesome reaction 😊
I was 13 in 1976 when I saw Santana live and heard this song. It helped shape some of my music tastes for years to come. Just an incredible song. Agree on how he speaks through the guitar, he is one of the greats from the 70's, he knows how to get the best out of it. This was on a play list we would listen to while floating on the lake on a nice sunny day just a great tune to chill to while having a beer.
I saw Carlos in 1976 in Tulsa, that was a great concert.Samba Pa Ti is another beautiful intrumental of his.I am part of the 14.3% that has subbed you.Maybe yo can check out Frank Marino from his Live at the Agora concert, you will see and hear another great guitarist who also sings,or Robin Trower who is another great guitarist.
There are several different videos of this song with more of the bands included But this has the best performance from Carlos watching his face and hands. so here it is....
Having seen Santana and Pink Floyd Live 4 times each, I can say the biggest difference between their live shows is at Santana the entire crowd is up dancing..... During a Gilmour solo the crowd is nearly frozen in a trace, totally mesmerized by what we were watching and hearing. Otherwise I see your point about the similarities.
The only other artist who has come close to this level of perfection on this song is Argentine saxophonist Gato Barbieri. A master class on instrumentals that draw deep from your soul. There is a video on YT that has them both performing this song together. Phenomenal.
This was my favorite Santana song until "Smooth" came out and beat it by a nose. Carlos and Gilmour are in my top 4 guitarists, so I feel your analysis
Before I even watch this I'm gonna say be sure to listen to the studio version at some point I'm sure this version is going to be good but because who don't like watching somebody play an amazing guitar solo. But in the studio version of the song it's a little bit more structured tighter notes and of course a little recording magic. I don't know that I've seen this live version that I prefer over the studio version. But I'm still looking lol. Thanks for posting video
Nobody makes the guitar cry like Santana, pure genius.
There is only one Carlos Santana. This song is just one of dozens like it. I'm glad to have turned you on to this amazing artist. Thanks again.

I just saw Santana last month in October at The Forum in LA. He still sounds as good as when I saw him in the 70s. He's a GOAT!

I've seen Santana live...Carlos never disappoints, he's amazing 👏 ♥️
He did for me when he left this song out a year ago

Greetings from the Netherlands. 🎸🎸🎶🎶🙋♀️
I've seen Santana Live 4 times and he did this song at 2 of them. A real crowd favorite with everybody up dancing.
Man you gonna play this I am subscribing 🔥
This Live performance is nearly perfect note for note from the studio album "Moonflower" version. You have to hear it in your head.... amazing talents
The "Moonflower" version was live . I saw him on that tour as well.
Only concert that hypnotized me.
One word: Perfection!
Fantastic 'feel' on the guitar !!!

Damm that was awesome!!
CRANK IT UP.... Hit the outdoor speaker switch. Spark Up My Pipe and Enjoy the Master at his craft.
M favourite version of this song. Is the o e what did in the early 70’s on TV. Thing is 83. Think it was in Japan.

For a song with no lyrics it sure can pull the emotion out of you !
The Mama's & The Papa's - California Dreamin
You can't play the melody unless you feel it from inside and let your fingers take over the feelings and this is the result.
