Just watched first episode, pretty good. With Sam not making it home leaves this show open to some interesting plots with Sam involved. The scene at start when as a getaway driver he notices his reflection in mirror is white male with sandy coloured hair but when he gets out of van his reflection in van is an Asian with black hair.

The reason they have to "over-splain" stuff is because there are too many ...(Impatient, for lack of a better word) people would turn it off because they're too dumb to figure out what's going on. I think it's cool though that they actually show HQ this time. Hope they keep doing that, even though I did watch the original, which was my favorite show at the time! Adds a little story depth besides leaping from person to person.

I loved the original show, but that was one thing that I wanted that I’m glad they added to this one, I wanted to see more of the future and the other people trying to help bring Sam/Ben home. The original show kept referencing other characters that we never saw. I know some people are upset that they are changing the formula, but I’m glad they are updating it, I don’t want an exact carbon copy of the original, I want this to be its own thing. It’s a little clunky right now but so was the first season of the original show(couldn’t figure out how they wanted to do the leap effect, trying to solidify the show “rules”,etc). The original show didn’t really take off until season 2.

i hoped that - with the help of the new team, Sam *would* finally get back home. After that, Sam would occasionally help the new team - when the situation was beyond their ability to react effectively. Example: Sam did an *amazing* job in a difficult situation during the 1965 Watts riots in "Black on White on Fire". The situation was *beyond* anyone fixing everything, but Sam did do what he could to help. I imagine a sort of similar 9/11/2001 episode where it is *not* clear what Ben, the new leaper, could or should do. Yes, if Ben dies on 9/11, he dies, so this would be a *clear* conflict between what Ben should or would do to help out.

Actually, the finale didn't spell Beckett incorrectly when it aired in 1993. I have a vhs recording of when it aired and it is spelled Beckett. However, on all reruns, dvd releases, and streaming it is spelled Becket.

If this is a revival not a straight up reboot of the show but Ernie Hudson’s character leans more revival then reboot Sam will a dangling thread over there head this season so finding him would be something they might have to do if they don’t want to loose original run fans like me they don’t have to make a deal about but have looking for him as something running in the the background that can be sprinkled throughout the season and closer to the season finale have him found and join the show in some way

One thing they could do is have different people go back to help out depending on the situation.. I'm sure someone has mentioned that before.. Still I think that would be cool...

@@fracturedfingers Not sure what that has to do with anything. You made a positive claim about something. You said that anyone that has ever lept has never come back. Cool. You technically have a reason to believe that's true for Sam Beckett. We know that other leapers exist in this universe from separate projects and we don't have access to any of their fates. Knowing that another leaper project exists allows for the idea that even more unmentioned ones could exist.

I wasn't crazy about it but I also know you can't really pass judgment on a show off of just one episode. It takes awhile to find their footing, find out what works and what doesn't work. I do absolutely agree that they should forget about the "current day" stuff and just stick with the story of whoever Not-Sam leaped into. Quantum Leap was another one of those traveling "do gooder" type shows like the Incredible Hulk or Highway to Heaven where the main character just goes from place to place helping people and the entire story is self-contained into the one episode. Also, the woman is a poor substitute for Al as the hologram. Al always provided comic relief.

It was an uneven series premiere, but offered some fun twists, and I’m curious to see how they try to involve the prior mythos. The time travel genre was more successfully executed with Timeless and Journeyman, but I’ll definitely stick with it.

I thought it was weird they didn't seem to talk to the guy (Matt Shaw the undercover cop) in the waiting room to get some info. Even if his brain was "swiss cheesed" he would have been able to give some details about his life at least which would have helped Ben. They seemed completely blind sighted by him.

My issues, Sam's picture looked like they took it off of one of the DVD covers, Addison was stuck to Ben's hip where Al was going back and forth trying to help Sam and Al just gave the probabilities to help him leap. During Sam's first leap the team tried to retrieve Sam during his leap not after he fixed what he needed to fix. When Ryan and Ben met Ryan's wife and daughter, why didn't she see Addison? (Might be answered later) We never saw the team so much. It was always Al and Sam and yes the team was part of the show but Al and Sam had us invested in the people that Sam leaped into. The issue I have with the team is that the show focused way too much time on the team and why Ben leaped. I liked the nods they gave to Sam and Al though. My big issue with Magic is that he talks about Sam like he doesn't know him. You'd think Tom would have spoken highly of Sam and Magic would have some knowledge of Sam from Tom. Maybe Tom will show up if the show lasts.

    • @synnical77

@@jonburrows8602 Quantum Leap was about trying to figure out what's really going on, what the future was really like, and wondering the possibilities of leaping were, and who/what other entities could interact or interfere. Everything else was the buildup to final answers that we haven't gotten yet. Hopefully this new series will answer the bigger questions.
Pro-tip: Different people enjoy fiction for many different reasons. You described the most basic way to engage with the show. If that's enough for you I get it. My mom wants to watch nothing but animated Disney movies. She doesn't think much more about them other than "oh, look at that cute animal". "Oh, look at that cute baby". This is zero judgment on her character. It's just what she enjoys with her leisure tv watching time.

    LEAP AT LARGE
One proposed series introduction of 2022 QUANTUM LEAP opens with Dr Ben Song receiving the Nobel Prize for QUANTUM PHYSICS along with our hero; Dr Sam Beckett.
After both receive such the honor, the two meet personally with cameos: one being Susan Diol reprising her role as Beth Calavicci (Admiral Al Calavicci widow).
Beth Calavicci congratulates and embraces both doctors (mentioning how proud the Calavicci family is)
    JUMP THE SHARK?
Another proposed cameo; Jim Parsons (BIG BANG THEORY; Sheldon Cooper) appears as the one whom presented Dr Ben Song and Dr Sam Beckett with the Nobel Prize in QUANTUM PHYSICS. (Whom exactly Parsons is in the cameo is unknown.)
After Dr Ben Song welcomes Dr Sam Beckett ONCE AGAIN; Dr Sam gives Ben his trademark smile and thumbs up (ala the leap out in DISCO INFERNO)
Ben smiles and his voice over says...
"My name is Dr Ben Song. I, along with my mentor, idol and hero, Dr Sam Beckett, have just received the Nobel Prize in QUANTUM PHYSICS.
What was just witnessed is indeed a HAPPY ENDING...
But boy, OH BOY...ONCE UPON A TIME..."
Thus 2022 QUANTUM LEAP tales in retrospect. Question is, will viewers care about HOW Dr Ben Song retrieved Dr Sam Beckett or simply shrug NO FURTHER QUESTIONS YOUR HONOR.
    REAL OR IMAGINED?
A proposed idea for Dr Sam Beckett's role in the new QUANTUM was to have stemmed from Addison and how far into the beyond Sam has abled himself since the cliffhanger finale.
Addison explains to Ben that he admired Dr Sam Beckett so dearly much that she could be her "sexiest" and still struggle pulling Ben's attention away from the genius; Dr Sam Beckett.
Addison smirks (to Ben) "FINALLY! I know more about your precious HERO; Dr Sam Beckett, than even you do. HA!!!"
It's argued; Scott Bakula reprises Dr Sam Beckett. He indirectly assists Dr Ben Song in his leaps. Sam is construed as the equivalent to what Stawpah is in the MIRROR IMAGE finale.
Beyond the events of Als Place bar; Sam leaps beyond correspondence with Project Quantum Leap and breaks barriers imposed by mere human understanding.
Simply put by Dr Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park) "Life finds a way."

The guy dressed as a woman was the icing on the turd cake. In the original, watching Scott Bakula rock a dress with his hairy chest was always a hoot. Now they just have a male cast member in heels. I got tired of laughing after 5 minutes.

Recent interviews with the main cast suggest Sam *is* coming back at some point. The actors playing Ben and Addison, when asked the question about the odds of Scott Bakula returning, weren't very subtle with their demeanor and tone. They didn't say he was returning, but that was the clear vibe. Ernie Hudson then stepped in and gave the more approved "we would all love for him to return" non-committal answer.

Sam being found or not isn’t something they would want us to know right off the bat cause we would be watching just to get to that point not giving the show a fair chance but it’s more likely with it being a revival instead of a reboot that he would be found to at least wrap up his story even if Scott doesn’t say on the series cause they probably know not doing that would turn off original run fans like me be we don’t know how they will handle it

    • @theylied1776
      @theylied1776 2 года назад +1

@@kevin10001 The only opinion that matters is Scott Bakula. He has given at least two interviews where he's said that the showrunners haven't shown any interest in resolving the cliffhanger of the previous show.
Second, in order to get the show off the ground, you need the original fans to watch. Without the resolution of the character of Dr Sam Beckett, the original fans will not watch the show. It will fail hard.

It's time to set right what once went wrong, Sam never made it home.
How to fix? Well maybe I'm taking a Quantum Leap of Faith here, but a future future person "entangled" with Sam and/or AL and the project, takes a leap back into Al's daughter. Al's daughter explains to Ben that Addison is about to be lost, just like Sam, and provides a unique new code (a quantum leap in coding) for Ziggy. Ben, who was alive when Sam stepped into the accelerator, must make a leap first/instead of Addison to put right what once went wrong, so Sam makes it home. Ben cannot tell Addison anything more than it is bigger than she knows, that he must do it, and to have faith he will come home so they can be together.
