Basically a 10 minute infomercial ad for the laptop.
Lol
at 4:50 he says that the new one is slightly more powerful than the last gen version man, i don't think it's an ad.
And what he didn't said: the SSD is the WD SN560.. very slow for a ROG Gaming/Creative/Whatever laptop
In this day and age, people can’t say they like a laptop without people thinking it is an ad. Like, why can’t he just like the laptop.
Got the 2022 G14 this year for only 1200 Euros in a pretty good config. I am SO happy with it, especially for the price that I paid. It's super portable, well build and even the batterylife - if you don't game or cut videos, is decent. For me that new iteration would not have been something I would have considered due to the price difference. But for whomever wants to afford it, go for it... The 2 year old model is fantastic, so this must be even better. But I don't really like that they removed the Animatrix display, or more like made it that stripe... Yeah, it's just a Gimmick, but I actually love it.
Daily drive that boy for over a year, it was great!! I only switched because I saw an OLED Aero on sale, and as a video editor/CG artist, the screen was unmatched. Still, I loved that boy, and I gave him to a friend of mine who needed a portable workstation/gaming PC.
Daily driving the 2021 model g14.
1. I miss Animatrix
2. I love that they went with CNC aluminium for bottom part of the chassis, my magnesium alloy one if chipping itself.
3. I hope to see a smaller hinge lift this time around 🤞
What specs on it?
So what was the box supposed to do?
I'm *SO* happy to see so many people *_finally_* realizing that LCD just isn't good enough any more.
This is so true you can start a career out of that (just saying, cuz some media journalist start their way out by pointing out these kinds of things)
@@SolsanaSolarist yeah that's not really a worry anymore on modern oleds
Are you sure about that 🕵️. CAN happen just not as common
@@devinugochukwu9990 you CAN have an airplane drop on you
@@GroteGlon Indeed. I've had a few different OLED HMDs and an OLED TV and without taking any special precautions have never experienced any burn-in. I'm more than happy to take that risk though (if it's even a thing any more) if it means the image doesn't have that nasty gray light pollution where beautiful inky black should be.
I imagine these will be 4090 x2 price minimum... But super quiet, portable, and a really nice display? Sounds worth it if you can afford it. :)
The 4080 super will be the go to choice
didn't they say that the 2024 G14 was 4060/4070 only because of the thin chassis? I think the 4080 and 4090 live on in the 2023 body.
best buy has the 32gb ram version with a 4070(max spec) for 2k
They are going too far paying every Tech Touber to promote this
Obviously, the marketing team is doing a great job. They’re making this laptop so they can sell. I really don’t see why is that an issue?
@@blinkguy4ever u will see the issue, once u need to make use of their customer service :D as a customer that used to have a 3100€ top of the line strix scar product, i can tell ya from my own experience. 1st and last asus product. their marketing and design is unmatched, but what u actually get is a big joke. the lenovo legion does far better in anything, features, cooling, noise, usage, bloatware (lol it a nightmare on asus), etc. just 3 examples:
1.) when u want to maintain ur Lenovo, u have a bios option that will deactivate the battery, so u are safe to work on it without the risk of causing a short. on the asus u can !only! physically disconnect the battery and have a nice spark when connecting it again, good luck doing this over and over.
2.) warranty void if you want to maintain the cpu/gpu in terms of repasting, ur not allowed to remove the heatsink by asus LOOOL. no problem on a lenovo, warranty still remains.
3.) asus hardware wont perform at its maximum without their armory crate bs software. guess what on a lenovo i dont need all that and even the powermode switching works without ANY lenovo software installed.
BONUS! if you ever need to send ur laptop in, for maintainance, asus will not give u a replacement device, not even for their top of the line producs that u bought.
guess what lenovo does? right, even for their 500€ laptop u get a replacement device if you ever need to send it in. thats how customer service works.
what do you get on asus customer service? i asked for a replacement device 2 times and they simply ignored it, they didnt even say yes/no they just fkn ignored it.
beside that, anytime u email with asus customer support, u have another person on the other end that does NOT read the email-history and good luck explaining over and over and over and over the same thing to different ppl. its just madness. all u are left with are copy paste answers that are made to suit the average user that has no clue about what hes doing. i got more than 20 yrs of experience with hardware. what does that mean? the average asus customer support has less skill than any 20 yrs old teenager these days that grew up with pcs.
in fact my used 1k lenovo legoin 5 has not a single problem whatsoever, anything is just perfectly fine, while on that asus crap i had issues over and over within the 2 years it last. 2 or 3 months after the warranty expired, this asus laptop turned to e-waste (it died). from what i could find out, im not the only one that had the exact same experience with that strix scar bs, model g533qs with 5900hx/RTX3080 16GB/32GB Ram/2TB SSD.
The only person to have gone too far in this situation is Austin buying too many Wish-tery, Ali Express-tery, and Temu-stery tech to fuel his Mystery Tech series
How much did it cost to buy you?
Ye he should stick with Etsy... Clearly they are better since he's still using that mouse and has that silicon wafer art piece in the back. :D
@@vinnieboy49As much as your mother. Not a lot. Unfortunately she let herself get hit raw by at least one paying client and now we have to deal with you.
Matt, is this you??😂😂😂😂😂
Matt, is this you??😂😂😂😂😂
Watching this from a 2023 Asus G14 with RTX 4060. I already thought the laptop was great so it's nice to see them making it better.
Ironic
I just bought the 2023 4060 model from BB - it dropped down to $999. At that price point I couldn't justify the newer model. The 2024 has soldered ram (yuck) and I've seen how much the screen wobbles. The older model also has a more powerful gpu. Guess it just depends on what specific users want.
Not ironic, coincidence
Many blessings to you💞 ✌🥰
Disliked because there's no timestamp available, it's 2024 and these creators are still lazy enough to add timestamps.

3. I hope to see a smaller hinge lift this time around 🤞
In the video it shows that they have removed the hinge lift for a more conventional screen layout so stability of the laptop should be improved, hopefully with strong screen hinges but we will see when Asus stops blue balling with pre production models.
@@Rowdy_Raider I noticed that too and on checking there website they seem to have removed the ergolift replacing it with seath hinge design so no more lift I guess. idk how I should feel about this hmmm!
as someone who owns a 2023 G14, my only complaint is the trackpad, its great when it works but it does some strange things like make weird noises when you touch it or just over respond or under respond sometimes.
My problem with the G14 has always been heat. The form factor makes you want to use it as a daily. But in the past, they just got too hot for daily use. And then, give that amount of power, you start to notice the smaller screen. It's a bit of a steampunk device, i.e. it's trying to be something that the tech of today just can't manage, so it whirs, wheezes and gets very hot.
Maybe this was an issue for older ones? I dailied a 2022 g14 for a good while without heat issues, at least as a chrome machine on quiet profile. Could play games for a good while without issue too with heat.
It's a bit of a mixed bag. I've got the maxed out 21 GeForce version and I still abuse it daily. I just clean the fans each 10 months or so, no repasting yet. Others have heat issues starting day one.
Mine always stays quiet until you start gaming and then it starts a little
G14 is my favorite laptop, sold my old asus ROG laptop to buy a G14 but then bills happen for my kids and gone money gone dreams XD.
Hopefully in the next 2 years im able to buy this one second handed.
That unboxing experience is top notch.
NO replaceable RAM, NO!

The zephyrus g14 looks rather sexy for an Asus gaming laptop. Doubling down on what works best for the zephyrus and the screen looks way better than the 2021 or 2022 versions. The trackpad looks as big as it ever will be and gives MacBooks a run for their money. The display looks even sharper but also very vibrant. Honestly razer has a very viable competitor in terms of the g14/g16.
I guess they told Ken not to come in as he would've tried to take it home.
I still have the 2021 G14 and its been my daily driver since. I really like my G14 for Price and value for its size. Highly recommended the older versions if you can find one for a great price. I got mine retail for 800 when it was normally 1200.
Same bro it holds up still
the Etsy mouse tho 💀
damn. I wish I could afford this. hell even the last gen would be nice as hell.
Last gen sucks, after I swore to never buy Asus products again, I'm looking at this g16...
I got a first gen g14 and it’s been wonderful, probably going to pick one of these up in 2025 when they’re in sale lol
These two models are the best of 2024 hands down. The design and build quality and especially the keyboard top notch
The most important shot, for me at least, is missing from this video. One of the most important things for me to see before I can even consider buying a certain laptop, is the internals. One good view of the internals answers so many important questions. Is the charge port soldered to the board or not? Are there extra storage slots available? Is the ram soldered to the board, or is it upgradeable? because the "on board" reference on the specs page does not bode well. All of these things are so very important and impact the long term usefulness, repairability and upgradeability a heck of a lot.
yeah, looking at the specs page, 16gb x 2 on board, max 32gb capacity, that ram is soldered to the board! Making these laptops just as terrible as recent macbooks. (8gbx2 16gb max in case of the rtx4070 version of the g16) A definite DO NOT BUY in my book.
@@rick5078I only use a laptop for a couple years then upgraded so I don't really need upgradable ram
@@whyamievenhere1334 the baked on ram is usually not the best kind of ram and I would definitely want to be able to choose what ram my laptop has. But more than that, the baked on ram fails very fast, within a couple of years usually, especially in gaming laptops. The solder connections get broken over time from the constant heating and cooling of the laptop.
Probably because these are production units
its a pre production unit
They are making them thin with no options to watercool them.
Review embargo lifted? All big tech RUclipsrs released their review videos at the exact same minute 😀
The terrible Intel Ultra 9 185H CPU is really weak. It's like 1/3 of the power of the i9-13950hx.
2020 version still going strong. speakers are great especially with the community making the g14 better with software. i have a program with combines dolby atoms with apo equalizer. its sound amazing with good bass.
RTX 2060 and R7 4800H?
@@aaz1992 yes but I think I have 4900hs and rtx 2060 max-q design (old term)
It's getting weaker on certain games now but I play on ultra wide so that is bc of resolution and the card being limited by 65w so only 1450 clock rate on gpu
I'm still satisfied with my 2022 version, still strong in gaming and graphic design. Not interested in upgrading yet. Great review, interesting and very clear.
En esa version te corre juegos triple a sin problemas?
Anybody here wondering whats up with Austins mouse? It looks like a rectangular LEGO Technic Kit.
It was in the recent Etsy video
The Polar Express comment needs to be a meme 😂 omg ive been sick all day and this was just magic
The downsides for me is that the G14 does not have thunderbolt neither an Ethernet port.
The G16 has those ports but both have soldered memory which I am not a fan of.
It is a good thing that we are getting G-sync and way better speakers but I guess the vapor chamber is only for high end GPUs.
Thunderbolt is only available with intel which is why it’s on g16
It has USB 4 I think which generally has decent support for docs and such
Please ask Asus about the lower resolution on G16 as well. It's 2.5k while the smaller one is rocking a 3k display
Pass for me my eyes hurts frommthe pwm of oled displays
That LED stripe on the cover really bothers me a lot, I wish they had kept it clean. Otherwise, beautiful design
Had the g14 gave it to my brother and bought a 2022 g15 and it works perfectly. Wonder if they have trade in bonuses.
When you say you have NO criticisms or complaints, you're admitting you're not reviewing anything. You're advertising
If you loose your glasses again I might just pick them up! By the way what brand and style are they? I need some new glasses...
Honesty taking it in i hate the OLED display hate glossy screens why i don't get touch screen laptops
Maxed out gray G16, my new daily. Can't fucking wait
I can't stomach the "unboxing" fetish, I don't feel like spending 100 bux on the box
I'll buy one when it goes on sale for $99.99
The only complaint I have with my 2024 G14 is Liquid Metal. Asus still does a poor job at applying it, they should just stop and use PTM7950 instead as it performs better than LM that Asus uses.
The way Matt walked in....
I'll be getting the G14 next month ane can't wait!
wtf is that mouse at 7:14
So the 4070 Modell is enough?
You will have to turn down settings even at 1080p in new demanding games lol. 8gb of vram is not enough anymore
So disappointing that you have to pick between AMD or Intel based on the size you want. I much prefer AMD, with it's still better efficiency and overall performance across apps I use, but I can only get the 14. HUGE L for ASUS in that regard. What were they thinking? Devils advocate here, what if Intel fans want a 14in laptop?
Do you know anything about the ASUS ROG Flow Z13/14 series 2024?
What up austin
Austin has a bumblebee on his hand
great video man, honestly i too love the g14 lineup, now more than ever.
i have a lil question, next month i'll be buying a new laptop and i'm sure i will go for a g14. do you (or anyone reading this) think it's worth is to buy, for example, the 4050 2024 model instead of the 4060 2023 model at a little major price point? i know it's some sort of a performance sacrifice, but i don't know at wich extent is worth it. also, i'm a little afraid of this new g14 will come with soldered ram, so if i buy the 16 gb model in some near future it will be just falling down. do you have any thougts on this? for me, i'll wait until price points are revealed
You and Linus both but you beat him to the upload I got yours first good Job Austin.
Hey Austin, I don't know what you're going to do with your old zephyrus but I'll take it off your hands.
Im still confused on how the laptop cooling airflow goes, does it come out from the bottom on the screen like the old G14 does? Or is it like a Bottom In Bottom Out thing
Does the right side USB-C port accept power?
When will this release in the US?
I wish I had one of those laptops :C
🙃
Where's the copilot key?
the 2022 g14 with the 6800gpu is the best deal. less then half the price and pretty much the same performance
If it doesn't have a 2 4090s and 100tb ram I don't want it
The ps5 still on fire😂
2:03 - so... what did the box do?
He was using the ultra light mouse from the last vid to play
if i'm going to buy a macbook thats the same size as the g14, i'd just spend the maybe few extra bucks and get a g14 thats way faster and better in every single way.
AI interests me Austin!
When Windows laptop can commercially use ARM, that is the time I will buy one. I have the 14" MBP, and a Desktop solely for fps gaming like Apex in 1440p. So happy with the desktop, but I just want an all in one machine. Anyway the g14 2024 looks amazing.
Lets be serious here, whats the battery life on this bad boy...1 hour 30 minutes ?
What mouse were you using? it looked home made
Austin is actually reverse aging
Please am one of your greatest fans so please help me Austin Evans 😢😢
Eh, I still like the look of the 2020-2023 models and I prefer having the 4090 in my 14

Why must there always be a new thing!? Optimize what you have first Nvidia and AMD!
are we not gonna comment in the mouse that he's using
Yeah it's that 3D printed light weight mouse from last mystery tech. I had to scroll so far down in Hopes of finding a mouse comment.
I got the 2023 version it still looks great and feels nice

What is the fan noise like when watching youtube and using discord for example. On the 2022 model?
OK now we know that austin has committed fraud 😂
G14 2024 is 2300 euro here and the legion slim 5 14” is 1300 for a similar setup. Would the zephyrus really be worth that much extra? It looks slightly better though i’m not a fan of the diagonal strip on top.
good question, depends on small matters if you're okay with no rgb on slim 14, worse speakers, worse build (but still good enough), no Gsync, slightly bigger footprint and I think the oled on slim 14 has less brightness as well but not sure. G14 goes up to 4070 while slim 14's max config is 4060. So again, depends on small matters wether it's worth it for you to almost pay the double
Austin mate, say after us: "A-LU-MI-NI-UM". Other than that, nothing but love.😅
Matt you already used that joke!
I have a 2022 zephyrus g14 amy rx6700s. They run super hot but they perform very well.

I'm ignoring every spec of this laptop and just wondering if they really removed the ANIme matrix?😢
They did, there's only the LEDs under the stripe. Lame.
