- While upgrades of the Win 600 have been done before, none are quite like mine as I squeeze a M.2. Sata 2280 drive where a 2242 Once lived, making this a lower cost upgrade that's really worth it.
This is one of my longest videos at 17mins long but its worth following as it gives you all the info you need on changing the Memory, M.2 SSD and the thermal paste on the APU. Игры
Brilliantly done. Thanks!
Hope it helped. Remember stick around for more vids. Hopefully a ton of AYN Odin2 vids coming soon.
God, I love that accent.
AND I love that I can put a 2280 in here, thx for the video. I found a 2tb NGFF SATA.
Lol cheers. You'll be able to install all the games on 2TB. 👍
Disconnecting the battery first before doing anything
I agree, discharged low and shut down in my case. Pulling power isn't easy on the win600 unfortunately.
My win600 3020e should be here soon.
Since I dont plan to run windows or steam and keep it for emulation only via Batocera rather than run Batocera from a flash drive or micro as card with a mini reader and have that sticking out the usb port I really should just upgrade the ssd. Might get a 1 even 2TB one.
So the only difference between the 2242.and 2280 is the form factor I believe, so why use the 2280? Maybe you found one cheaper or had it in a drawer?
Also, it cant be an nvme one, I read those dont work.
Going by your vid it looks easy enough to open replace the ssd so 👍
Can you get M.2 Sata in 2TB size? I went for the 2280 as it was convenient and much cheaper that equivalents... Yes easy to open and replace to be honest, running Batocera directly from the M.2 Sata also shouldn't be too much of an issue, you can download a bootable image direct from Anbernic. Keep me posted on how you get on with battery life/condition. I'm pretty sure the pack which is 2 cells is badly configured so easily slips out of balance. I can now no longer charger higher than 70%. I'm pretty sure one cell is 100% charged and the other barely charged but I can't get them to balance. I've heard of a few other owners having problems charging over 60% and many say they never get it to charge over 95%.

Damn, looks like my first reply was auto deleted by yt.
Well, if I have any battery issues Ill let you know.
And yeah, check 2TB kingspec 2242 brand.
Gets good comments from buyers and also seem a ytver use a 1TB kingspec.
Had an issue with jtem havent got it, apparently it was sent back for some reason so in process of getting refund.
Will order from somewhere else so give me a few weeks again 😁
@@fonzitheman what company did you order from?
Originally? From an ali express seller.
does the 2280 ssd get hot? like to the point it causes issues?
I thought perhaps this was the case when I had battery issues. But it seems everyone is likely to have that at some point. And the battery is fine now after I managed to force calibrate it.
As far as I can tell the SSD isn't close to any components that might be affected by heat. In fact if you wedge the end into the squashy foam like I did the whole SSD is further away from the main board.
@@handheldgaming4life very cool, good to know thank you for your response
@@CJKile Always happy to help.
How reliable is the hard drive? I've just bought a 512gb sandisk thumb drive not knowing I could if got one of those for a similar price. Next on my list haha
Been in a few weeks now, wiped it several times with different builds etc. So far it's been perfect. Works a treat.
@@handheldgaming4life thanks for the quick reply 😊 I'll definitely get one soon
what the size of the screw did you use?
An iFixit TR6 fits perfectly. @ifixityourself

can the processor be replaced
No, it's soldered directly to the board. Most of not all handhelds are the same. Memory can however be upgraded as it's standard laptop sodimm. Albeit single channel. And the M2 can be replaced with a bigger one, SATA M2 though not NVMe.
Is it possible to change the video chip to a more powerful one? I think it would be interesting.
Sadly not. The APU is processor and GPU rolled into one package.
@@handheldgaming4life To begin with, it was necessary to DISCONNECT the battery plug so as not to accidentally close anything. Even on the RAM there is such a sticker, if I'm not mistaken
@@hitbox2381 I agree its always worth pulling the battery connector. Unfortunately the connector on the Win 600 requires you to pull the battery off to give room to extract the connector. I shut down fully and I've worked on PCs and handhelds for decades, so I'm pretty careful. But yeah mistakes can be made so be careful when replacing the ram/SSD etc.
What screwdrive is that?
In this video its a kit from a UK shop called Maplin. But a better kit would be an iFixit Moray, which is what I have now.
Any battery replacement recomendatioms, mine dies out of nothing
Sadly I've not found any alternative sources. I contacted Anbernic and they said they don't sell parts like batteries and offered no assistance in alternatives. 😕
…thats why i will ever never never ever buy anything anbernic again…nope sir e not…ever never…no…
@@JohnStenborg I was foolish and I've bought a other of their products. Review coming soon. I should have listened to my own advice. Everyone singing this devices praises but will it break in 2 months? Seems some are reporting theirs are. 🤦
O meu anbernic morreu ... infelizmente... dinheiro jogado no lixo...
What happened to it? Failing to power on? Could be the battery BMS is failing to charge the battery. Or its swollen, only way to know is to open the device.
mine has 4tb and 32gb ram
I'd be interested to know if you've ever managed to use more than 16gb of RAM when in use. I'm currently preparing to upgrade one of my handhelds to 4TB of storage, feels like it'll be the perfect amount for a long trip.

Gonna hold my hand up, Just bought another Anbernic handheld. It gets rave reviews, and some very bad ones that get buried. Let's see how things pan out with this one.
