Thank you Mitch and to Sweetwater music for hosting this informal hang! As you might notice, I was antsy to get back in the studio and play, but Mitch's cool style kept me at ease, otherwise.....!
First saw Will Lee in a seedy bar in Toronto when he was with The Brecker Brothers band. Here was this guy playing intricate funk bass lines over very advanced changes... WHILE SINGING LEAD!!! Never saw anything like it then nor since. This guy is one monster musician. Seems like a great guy, too.
Great interview! i had the honor to play with both my favorite bass players, Will (on vocals!) and Neil Stubenhaus (bass) during the 2003 Yamaha Groove Night in LA. Will was incredibly positive, friendly and supportive during the whole experience. Thanks!
Really nice to hear some of your back story, WIll! When I first started hearing of you, you were already a legend around NYC. Nice to realize that you came from somewhere, and had to fail, and re-invent yourself a couple of times, and all that stuff to become THE Will Lee. Very inspiring!
Will Lee is such a great player and was always really great on Letterman doing bits or just adding to bits with his ability to pay attention and use good judgement. Hitting a well timed fumbled bass note when required Laying low when required.Just like a great musician does. Not overbearing but playing to the whole. I have noticed that he is the fidgetiest ( is that a word? ) person Ive ever seen. Does he have a nerve disorder, anxiety or is it excess energy? Hard to tell.

Thanks to YOU, Will! 😎👍
27:57 - The Larry Elgart Orchestra! Wow, one of the greatest big bands! What a treat.

This is the most insightful link into who Will is that I have seen and I have seen a few.
Has quietly maintained one of the healthiest heads of hair in rock.

Will Lee. The absolute best session player of all.
This is a beautiful interview! Very interesting and enjoyable. Will's candor, humility, and love of music made it a real joy.
Thanks, we appreciate you taking the time to watch! 😁
Great interview! It's always nice to find musicians that are of excellent quality "and" have a really good attitude.
Thanks for checking it out, Erich! 😎
Wonderful informative and inspiring interview. Very intelligent questions.
Super cool interview :)
Saw you live on Letterman, really enjoy your style.
Be well,
Steve
