I think the implication that Dimentio asked to join Count Bleck instead of being recruited is hinting that Dimentio was planning on betraying him from the very start.
188 now. I recently watched through Chuggaconroy's whole Paper Mario playthrough, so I have a ton of Paper Mario related recommendations now, much to my delight.
Did anyone else ever get a glitch where, in chapter 2, if you go through the rooms Mimi asks you to, and leave the descending spike roof room without finding the secret key, the game freezes when you talk to Mimi again? I always assumed that's because her dialogue changes each time you go to a room she asks, but the game expected the player to find the secret in this last room and didnt properly give her dialogue for what happens if you talk to her again.
Yes, I did. Got stuck on that level because of that and eventually had look up the solution on RUclips back in the day. 2 levels later and I am now having nightmares because a little girl snapped her neck.

Maybe Merlon long Ancestor was the magician, and he... turn her into a proximity of the og Pixl?
Something that wasn't mentioned is that the pixl that let that fighter "see truth" could've had the Tattle ability. In SPM, you can use Tippi to reveal hidden objects, as well as give short messages about enemies and other things, similar to the Tattle ability from the first two games used by Goombario and Goombella. It also suggests that Tippi's pixl ability was already held by another pixl before she was transformed. Trying to imagine how things look in-universe is actually really hard in this game because of how abstract the art-style is. It's also possible to take the dimension flipping mechanic to its logical conclusion and basically claim that the bar that depletes is basically a _sanity meter._ Someone flipping like that for the first time would be _very_ disorienting for them.
11:58 I feel like that’s Count Bleck because you get to read one of his memories in between chapters and he takes the book in front of his father before disappearing! You never hear Dimentio say anything of his lineage (Also thank you so much for this video this means so much to me personally)
The amount of lore that goes unnoticed if you only stick with the main story is unreal. The writers even went as far as to give some NPCs different dialogue with each progressed chapter. SPM was a blessing. It'd be a miracle if we get another Mario game like it again.
I always found the parallels between spm and toby fox’s games extremely intriguing and I like when others point that out. I could even see a boss near or at the end of deltarune pulling something with the secret bosses or other characters similarly to dimentio using luigi and the chaos heart, a conduit of dark power to become stronger
According to the wiki, it is possible that Mimi is either a failed Pixl, or an artificial intelligence created replace Pixls after the war. I like the AI idea better, as it explains why she has gears in her head
From what I remember, Carson literally give 2 contradictory stories and basically say "you decide." The option other than a failed pixel experiment was the creation of a witch researching shape-shifting potions.
8:06 i have a theory on this. I think maybe early on, the idea for this game *might* have been entering the 4th dimension to solve puzzles. maybe they liked the "dimensional" theming of the game but found 4D too hard to implement, so instead they simplified it and made the gimmick swapping from 2D to 3D instead. this is just pure speculation from me though.
a lot of people talk about undertale's similarities to super paper mario and i agree 100% even just on vibes alone- as well as the idea that, like, this guy that you've been building up to fighting for the whole game is actually kind of depressed, he's a bit "i miss my wife tails. i miss her a lot" and that he doesn't necessarily even have to die at the end- and, at least in the true pacifist ending, he doesn't. asgore, yeah, i mean, he's got the whole soul thing going on, but he doesn't even really want to do it. he just wants the underground to have hope again. really he just misses his wife. he just wants to have a family again. and the count, yeah, he's trying to destroy all worlds, but really he just misses timpani and has just kind of. lost a lot of his will in life now that he believes her to be gone. but REALLY i also hold a very firm belief that, on pure vibes alone, toby had at least a tiny bit of inspiration from pokemon mystery dungeons: explorers of time/darkness/sky. i have nothing to back this up. but a lot of the vibes, especially in deltarune, hit such a similar spot for me. specifically the section where you make the vessel reminds me of the quiz you take in the beginning of pmd, and the parts with the dark fountains remind me so much of the time gears. i have nothing that can prove this. but i need to keep this belief or i die or something i don't know
a well-made video from a 650 sub channel about things I actually didn't know pertaining to one of my favorite games of all time? really good stuff, you've earned yourself a sub
I thought you would’ve had more videos, and was surprised this was the only one on your channel. I really hope to see you make more videos in the future!
Wow I loved this video and I hope to see more from you in the future! You have an excellent narrater voice and I unironically would love to see a full super paper mario iceberg video 👀👀
4:23 damn. That makes me even angrier that intelligent systems didn't follow all of the cool lore for a future installment and went with lame paper gimmicks instead. There's more of a story to tell that actually serves a purpose!
You have a knack for this, my only (very minor) gripe was the transitions between segments being a bit long and awkward. Subscribed and looking forward to more
One odd thing is that it's the only game in the series without turn-based battles, yet it's also the one that sold the most copies. I just find it funny, it's like if Link's Crossbow Training was the best selling Zelda game.
I freakin love this game, it’s such a tragedy that we’ve never gotten, and likely will never get another paper Mario game in this style. The vibe is super unique and it will forever hold a special place in my heart
I have a theory about the odd cat levels: You know how the Chinese Mario 64 was released later and had a bunch of extra cut content in its files? What if there is a trend of, for whatever reason, regional builds made way after the initial release have less cleaned up files? Maybe these odd levels are from a super early stage of SPM development? They do kinda have a hand drawn story book like aesthetic, maybe the original vision of the game was going to lean way more into that? If the levels are broken in 2D, maybe they just hadn’t decided on the flipping mechanic that early? The Cats could’ve been a new species. Or maybe it wasn’t even a Mario game to begin with? That might explain why the lore is so deep and complex for a Mario game. It was made for another project and then forced into a Mario story when they where told to make it one.
I love this game and have played it so much but I did not know the fact about the bar where you can hear backstory om characters. I'm probably gonna play the game again to see this but you could also make a video dedicated to this topic, I feel like I'm not the only one who doesn't know about this
This is a pretty cool video! (Never knew about the bartender stories...) I'll note one thing though: IIRC according to gigidigi, Toby has never actually played SPM (even though she keeps nagging him about it)
13:30 A baseless theory, but the "Korean Cat levels" could be remnants of a cut world exclusive to the Korean release of the game. If it got as for as getting level geometry and NPC placement then it's safe to say it was probably gonna happen but was cut due to either Nintendo's creative differences or Intelligent Systems simply wanting to keep the game the same in all regions. Just food for thought.
Nastasia, or how ever you spell her name. The guy in flop side bar tells a story about a man looking for his loved one that went missing. One day he found a bat trapped, the man freed the bat. Later that night he was woke by a strange woman. She told him that she was the bat he had freed and is now forever in debt to him. So yes she is a bat.
The burning bush is almost certainly just a thing bowser would’ve been able to burn. Underchomp was probably cut due to technical problems. Dimentio being the last wizard is also very logical
On the whole undertale/deltarune comparisons thing, I would like to point out that Noelle’s Leitmotif actually comes from The Thousand Year Door! So that lends more credence to the idea he may have played and enjoyed SPM as well
This video is actually very well done, but I have some points on the lore. (I know, I'm a nerd... but that's what you get from a Mario geek) We do actually know where the Ancients come from. Lineland, the first world in the game is called by the ingame description in the menu; The land of Ancients. Besides, we see the same species in Yold Town as in Flip/Flopside We do know how the Ancients and Tribe of Darkness split. The T of Darkness stole the Dark Prognosticus after the Pixl Uprising to prevent any bad things like form happening ever again, before dissapearing to a foresty dimension with a castle deep in the woods. They dissapeared without saying anything, and the Ancients were left dumbsided. They ammediatly assumed the T. of Darkness took it to use it's dark power for evil. Flopside wasn't created by the T. of Darkness. It was created by the Ancients as part of the plant to help the hero in the future to counter the dark prognosticus prophecy. Flopside and Flipside were both built to keep balance between light and dark, but the T. of Darkness were already out of the picture for 500 years at this point. It is true that some descendants of the T. of Darkness live in Flopside, like Nolrem (who is just a descendant of them, not a member of the T. of Darkness), but those are probably T. of Darkness members who stayed behind with the Ancients when most of the T. of Darkness left after taking the Dark Prognosticus. Timpani is never implied to have Ancients ancestry. She was actually a human, directly stated by the game, which means she's not even of the same species as the Ancients. On the Bestovius point, that's definetly very interesting, but it's also good to note that Thoreau also calls out: "The great being who is watching will understand" when explaining the controls of his abillity. The son of the magician is never said to have recovered. I think some Dimentio fan edited the Mario Wiki to entise people in this popular fan theory, but it's never implied. If you go the information from any other source, I'd love to know of it.
Seriously, good job on the video. I'm the just the guy who is a bit too obsessed with Mario lore and compiles and theorises about it all like it's some sort of academic field. This game's lore is actually packed with a lot more weird obscure details.
awesome video, i love stumbling upon a spm video that isn't only a retrospective. nothing wrong with those videos but since the game is going on 16 years old i really enjoy fresher ideas. like this for example contains sorta niche things about the game a lot of us have thought about on our own, but i haven't seen it compiled into a video as "odd things." would love to see more paper mario content in the future!
Super Paper Mario is an absolutely fantastic game, and I've only fallen more in love with it as time has gone on. I got to meet perhaps my closest internet friend last summer, when he stayed at my apartment for two weeks and we drowned ourselves in countless video games. Of all of them, SPM was the game we put the most time into, and I think it was the only one we actually beat. It was his first time experiencing anything about the game, and getting to be there and see his reactions was amazing. I also got to provide voice acting for the characters, which was great fun all the way through. :) Paper Mario will never have a story quite like SPM, but man I hope they pull something off of the same caliber. Fantastic video, made me think about things! And I didn't realize you could actually learn about Bleck's minions' backstories at the bars, so I'll perhaps go and check those out in more detail here soon. ^^
Consider: Breadward is actually mimi's half sibling, another failed artificial pixl they tried to make, but failed when they got hungry and started eating it About Bestovius- it's absolutely just a wink and a nod, but I'd love it if Bestovius thinks we the players are just, like, ANOTHER universe, just one with more power
While Dimentio and Jevil have similarities, I would classify it the same as the prophecy, a common trope. You may say “it’s not common” but then when you throw in Emperor Joker or Kefka, you can see it’s had multiple variations on the trope through the years. By that logic, the 7 McMuffins, the hearts in SPM, the souls technically in Undertale, are both similar to The Chaos Emeralds from Sonic, the Dragon Balls, or even Mortal Kombat’s Kamidogu.
So I don't recall Breadward ever being mentioned, probably because I tend to skip through a lot of the dialogue. I guess it's always a possibility to put him in another game, but I think it was just something Mimi made up to trick Mario.
Loved this video alot, the stuff with the bartenders completely blew my mind, all that lore I never even knew about. Insane stuff, glad it's all straight to the point, and all info that's really not know or just so bizarre you have to mention it. Can't wait to see what you have coming in the future :)
i really like that the video is just the bottom of an iceberg and doesnt waste time with stupid bullshit everyone knows like "ok guys, top of the iceberg!!! did you know super paper mario is a wii game???"
re: gamecube stuff. People have dug through the files/assets and found a lot of other gamecube assets from TTYD, so the more likely explanation is that SPM started off as a direct sequel to TTYD. Even how the SPM sprites are assembled is the same as TTYD. Sticker star also uses the same sprite assembly (multi-piece sprites,) despite being a different style of game. Color of Splash actually goes back to how the sprites worked in Paper Mario (N64), 1-cel-per-frame of animation. As for the River Twygz, that is not "hell", it's the "underwhere" that is an analogy for the Greek afterlife/underworld with Jades being the analog for Hades(the greek god), and Twygz is clearly a metaphor for the river Styx. Likewise the Overthere is an analogy for Elysium through the lens of the mario universe which has always had "cloud/sky" worlds. Undertale being inspired by Paper Mario, literately Toby Fox has mentioned both Earthbound and "Mario and Luigi" (which happens to share some mechanics with Paper Mario, as both were forked from Super Mario RPG's mechanics, in particular, the "timed hit", and DeltaRune goes up a notch and adds in Party members.) So any similarity to Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, or Mario+Luigi in Undertale and DeltaRune may feel inspired.
I like that it’s about Super Paper Mario. It was the first paper mario game I ever played, and I personally think it is great. I know it gets a lot of backlash for being different from the previous two games, but at the same time, I don’t think the puzzles and layout would work if you had to go into a turn based battle with every enemy. It would be very slow, and the boss battles in the game (in my opinion) are far cooler.
Hey dude, great video. Seriously, this went absolutely crazy for a first video. I do have something to criticize, it's nothing big tho I feel like you waited too long with your fades to black as well as them being too long, to the point where there are sections of the video in which there's just a black screen without music or anything and you kinda just sit there for 4 seconds wondering if your youtube crashed lol. All in all this isn't really a big deal, but I feel like it's easy to fix and it just messes with the "flow" ig of the video :) best example of this is 7:54 btw, if you need something specific earned a sub tho, I feel like your future vids will go crazy to a similar degree
Losing my mind over Nastasia's color scheme and one of the Mario bat designs. Never connected that. Love this game to bits. It irrevocably influenced how I view Peach, Bowser, and Luigi, and Dimentio is arguably my favorite villain from anything ever. Thanks for making such a nice video about it! Also, I love those beta cats. So much.
there are many more similarities between undertale and super paper mario you didn't even mention how the tutorial character you meet at the beginning with a vaguely punny name is the former partner of the cape-wearing royal antagonist who is on a path of destruction he regrets and doesn't wish to fight, and then flowey/dimentio swoops in at the last moment to (attempt to) kill him and steal the heart-themed mcguffin(s) in his own bid for domination of the universe, not only that but in order to do so he manipulates a character who's a somewhat naive younger-but-taller brother character (need i point out they both wear a scarf at some point, both wear a cap a some point, need to be fought at some point, and at one point refer to themself as "the great [x]", also both of their brothers are older-but-shorter, are protective, have a generally cheerful demeanour and are extremely powerful with some kind of dimension-related power no one else has) both games also have a scaly redhead with an explosive personality who initially hates you but then joins your cause, and mimi and muffet are both spider girls trying to get as much money out of you as possible (although muffet's colour palette and speech style are actually more dimentio-like whereas mimi's colour palette and speech style are more flowey-like, huh), also beyond the random dating sim there's also a random game show in both games too hosted by a computery guy with a pixelly screen face
deltarune also seems to have a bit more in common with m&l, spamton is kind of fawfulesque (big glasses and teeth, sells dubious things, talks funny, is a bit emotionally unstable, makes a grab for power and takes on a weird form only for it to kind of backfire), and queen visually harkens a lot to princess shroob with the floating chair, the tall glass, the giant robot in the middle of the palace, -and kind of looking like an alien- and there may be more i haven't thought of lol of course on a more general marioey note ralsei is a bit of a princess peach being a royal who lives in a castle and bakes cakes and lancer has always given me bowser jr vibes
i just remembered both games have at least 1 shoprunning npc who (probably) sells tea and gives backstory details about very important characters, and in undertale his name is gerson, and in super paper mario their names are garson and carson,
Great video! I loved watching this sort of stuff back in the day and I never knew about the clock, that’s a really neat detail! Got a few of my own little tidbits to share while I’m here: -Tippi seems to recognize Dimentio when the party first encounters him (before the Fracktail fight). Not entirely sure what this could imply, as this is never explained further as far as I know, but I think it means Tippi either learned about Dimentio in the prophecies (reinforcing the idea of him being the magicians son, or possibly hinting that his interference in Bleck’s plan was actually mentioned in the light prophecy) OR Tippi had met Dimentio at some point before she became a pixl, meaning Dimentio may have had motives for joining Bleck other than simply stealing the Chaos Heart. -Nit sure if this is ever confirmed but I’ve seen a lot of people theorize that Shadoo, boss of Flopside’s pit of 100 trials, is the pixl queen told of in the war of the ancients. She was locked up in the pit where she slowly became shadoo. Her “pixl ability” may have been to imitate the abilities of other beings. This could further imply that the other shadow enemies in the pit are either Shadoo’s creations or other picks who betrayed the ancients in the war. -Digibutter.nerr, a website referenced by Francis, was actually adapted into a real website by fans shortly after the game’s release! The website is still up and running, and I encourage you to check it out. It’s a really neat little community and I think you’d fit right in if you love stuff like this! And with that, Ciao! Enjoyed your video :)
Definitely checking out Digibutter. The Shadoo theory is so good, and it even explains why the hero would need a Pixl that lets them see through illusions. As for Tippi knowing Dimentio... that opens so many doors to all kinds of what ifs. I doubt Tippi knows Dimentio by name through the Light Prognosticus, because it has a habit of not referring to anyone by name, instead only describing them. I really like the idea that Dimentio had personally met Tippi before. It really reinforces the idea that Mario and company have just stumbled into an ongoing conflict, in which they just happen to be crucial parts of resolving it
Also, entry for that SPM iceberg: M&L BIS and SPM Similarities -both are the third entry in their respective Mario RPG Series -Both feature a villan who was a sidekick to another main villan, who betrays said main bad guy in order to fulfill their goals -Both start with the capturing/seize of both Bowser's and Peach's Kingdom's (tho in SPM they just capture Peach and Bowser's Castle while in BIS Fawful conquers Bowser's Domains while starting to take over Peach's Castle) -Both involved a Dark Artifact that brings about the end of the world/covers the over in darkness -Both have an End Battle where they fight a Fusion of a Pre-established Mario main character and the New Villan (Super Dimentio and Dark Bowser) -In both, the True Antagonist (Fawful and Dimentio) uses Mind Control. (Heck, Even Fawful used a Worm that looks similar to Dimentio Plant thing, specifically to enslave Chain chomps) -Both games have a similar gimmick concept: 2 worlds, one 2D and one 3D. -They both have a guide Type Female character that helps Mario in his Journey (Tippy and Starlow)
I feel like I’m the Undertale section you forgot to mention that both games also have creepy spider girlies acting as maids and sad nobles with big capes acting as pseudo-final bosses
i absolutely LOVE spm and every content about it, finding this made my day better, especially considering its 2023, seeing content about this game nowdays is still so cool to me and btw, i really like the way you editted the video! if you ever plan on doing more videos, keep up the good work!!
I think the implication that Dimentio asked to join Count Bleck instead of being recruited is hinting that Dimentio was planning on betraying him from the very start.
8:52 card castle looks a LOT like castle bleck
Oh my God so that's probably dimentio's backstory.
1:55 they don’t die per-se. Dimentio sends them there WITHOUT killing them. That’s why they’re allowed to leave (bc they aren’t dead).
they quite literally went to hell before they died
It's probably part of his scheme to use the heroes to steal the Chaos Heart or whatever. The sneaky little guy...

No idea how I stumbled across an 8 subscriber channel with a single video, but I did, I'm here, and I'm sticking around.
It's at 80 now
I assumed this guy had about a few thousand subs before I read your comment.
Me neither, although I did look up the Super Paper Mario ost recently so that may have had some influence. Excellent video though!

Need more lore oddities in games from you fr

Oooh that is a really cool detail, missed that completely. Makes Dimentio even more of a mystery though.

i like how this video goes from the disembodied hand in the river twygz, to fucking Breadward.
Also, your voice is really soothing. Thanks for the great content!
Hope to see another video from you my dude
Great video about one of my favourite games. Don’t know how it was recommended to me but I’m subscribed now!
Great video!! I love the weirdness of SPM, but more importantly I'm a big fan of hearing people's thoughts on it lol
15 minutes of super paper mario trivia i probably never knew? this is gonna be good...
it was
nice and relaxing and I always knew there was something about the ancients that I didn't pick up on or remember so it was a good refresher.
fascinating results, mostly watched to see the cats
On the whole undertale/deltarune comparisons thing, I would like to point out that Noelle’s Leitmotif actually comes from The Thousand Year Door! So that lends more credence to the idea he may have played and enjoyed SPM as well
This video is actually very well done, but I have some points on the lore.
(I know, I'm a nerd... but that's what you get from a Mario geek)
We do actually know where the Ancients come from.
Lineland, the first world in the game is called by the ingame description in the menu; The land of Ancients.
Besides, we see the same species in Yold Town as in Flip/Flopside
We do know how the Ancients and Tribe of Darkness split.
Excellent video
You've been blessed by the algorithm, certainly earned my sub
awesome video, i love stumbling upon a spm video that isn't only a retrospective. nothing wrong with those videos but since the game is going on 16 years old i really enjoy fresher ideas. like this for example contains sorta niche things about the game a lot of us have thought about on our own, but i haven't seen it compiled into a video as "odd things." would love to see more paper mario content in the future!
The amount of story gave Miyamotovs heart attack
Super Paper Mario is an absolutely fantastic game, and I've only fallen more in love with it as time has gone on.
I got to meet perhaps my closest internet friend last summer, when he stayed at my apartment for two weeks and we drowned ourselves in countless video games. Of all of them, SPM was the game we put the most time into, and I think it was the only one we actually beat. It was his first time experiencing anything about the game, and getting to be there and see his reactions was amazing. I also got to provide voice acting for the characters, which was great fun all the way through. :)
Paper Mario will never have a story quite like SPM, but man I hope they pull something off of the same caliber. Fantastic video, made me think about things! And I didn't realize you could actually learn about Bleck's minions' backstories at the bars, so I'll perhaps go and check those out in more detail here soon. ^^
Cool stuff bro
omg, Super Paper Mario lore i didn't knew?
I love it
Consider: Breadward is actually mimi's half sibling, another failed artificial pixl they tried to make, but failed when they got hungry and started eating it
About Bestovius- it's absolutely just a wink and a nod, but I'd love it if Bestovius thinks we the players are just, like, ANOTHER universe, just one with more power
Damn one video?! You're going places if you're starting off this great
While Dimentio and Jevil have similarities, I would classify it the same as the prophecy, a common trope.
Can't wait to see what you have coming in the future :)
i really like that the video is just the bottom of an iceberg and doesnt waste time with stupid bullshit everyone knows like "ok guys, top of the iceberg!!! did you know super paper mario is a wii game???"
unironically just what i was looking for! cool vid!
Really interesting video can't wait for the next
Godlike video, may the algorithm bless you
re: gamecube stuff.
I do have something to criticize, it's nothing big tho
I feel like you waited too long with your fades to black as well as them being too long, to the point where there are sections of the video in which there's just a black screen without music or anything and you kinda just sit there for 4 seconds wondering if your youtube crashed lol. All in all this isn't really a big deal, but I feel like it's easy to fix and it just messes with the "flow" ig of the video :) best example of this is 7:54 btw, if you need something specific
earned a sub tho, I feel like your future vids will go crazy to a similar degree
new stryder7 just dropped
Losing my mind over Nastasia's color scheme and one of the Mario bat designs. Never connected that.
Love this game to bits. It irrevocably influenced how I view Peach, Bowser, and Luigi, and Dimentio is arguably my favorite villain from anything ever. Thanks for making such a nice video about it!
Also, I love those beta cats. So much.
The sequel is in another dimension.
there are many more similarities between undertale and super paper mario
you didn't even mention how the tutorial character you meet at the beginning with a vaguely punny name is the former partner of the cape-wearing royal antagonist who is on a path of destruction he regrets and doesn't wish to fight, and then flowey/dimentio swoops in at the last moment to (attempt to) kill him and steal the heart-themed mcguffin(s) in his own bid for domination of the universe, not only that but in order to do so he manipulates a character who's a somewhat naive younger-but-taller brother character (need i point out they both wear a scarf at some point, both wear a cap a some point, need to be fought at some point, and at one point refer to themself as "the great [x]", also both of their brothers are older-but-shorter, are protective, have a generally cheerful demeanour and are extremely powerful with some kind of dimension-related power no one else has)
both games also have a scaly redhead with an explosive personality who initially hates you but then joins your cause,
and mimi and muffet are both spider girls trying to get as much money out of you as possible (although muffet's colour palette and speech style are actually more dimentio-like whereas mimi's colour palette and speech style are more flowey-like, huh),
also beyond the random dating sim there's also a random game show in both games too hosted by a computery guy with a pixelly screen face
deltarune also seems to have a bit more in common with m&l, spamton is kind of fawfulesque (big glasses and teeth, sells dubious things, talks funny, is a bit emotionally unstable, makes a grab for power and takes on a weird form only for it to kind of backfire), and queen visually harkens a lot to princess shroob with the floating chair, the tall glass, the giant robot in the middle of the palace, -and kind of looking like an alien- and there may be more i haven't thought of lol
of course on a more general marioey note ralsei is a bit of a princess peach being a royal who lives in a castle and bakes cakes and lancer has always given me bowser jr vibes
i just remembered both games have at least 1 shoprunning npc who (probably) sells tea and gives backstory details about very important characters, and in undertale his name is gerson, and in super paper mario their names are garson and carson,
I really like your style! Glad this video is getting recognition. I'm subbed! Would love to see some more vids from you.
Most underrated channel ever.
a direct sequel to super paper mario would've been so cool. the story introduced seemed to have so muchc potential!
but we all know what happened...
Mr. L is way more stylish than a reversed letter on a cap.
Take a look at his secretive black mask and that nice scarf/hanky he wears around his neck.
Lets pump up the subsss
Wow, this was a really cool video, I should check out his other videos- Oh!
Trust the process 🙏
Just learned about the Bar Stories, thats actually pretty cool. Great Video dude!
Damn, one video and you've already got more subscribers than me! Well deserved!
soothing voice, just like styder7x
I skipped this one when I found out it wasn't like the gamecube game. But it looks kinda interesting actually
I wasn't aware of a lot of these,
The bat thing wouldn't make sense since Swoopers are purple in the Paper Mario series.
never played a single paper Mario game in my life but here I am
Great video! I loved watching this sort of stuff back in the day and I never knew about the clock, that’s a really neat detail!
Got a few of my own little tidbits to share while I’m here:
-Tippi seems to recognize Dimentio when the party first encounters him (before the Fracktail fight).
It really reinforces the idea that Mario and company have just stumbled into an ongoing conflict, in which they just happen to be crucial parts of resolving it
Isn't Tippi knowing Dimentio a translation error
8:52 most of this stuff is just coincidence or common tropes in my opinion
Also, entry for that SPM iceberg:
M&L BIS and SPM Similarities
-both are the third entry in their respective Mario RPG Series
-Both feature a villan who was a sidekick to another main villan, who betrays said main bad guy in order to fulfill their goals
-Both start with the capturing/seize of both Bowser's and Peach's Kingdom's (tho in SPM they just capture Peach and Bowser's Castle while in BIS Fawful conquers Bowser's Domains while starting to take over Peach's Castle)
-Both involved a Dark Artifact that brings about the end of the world/covers the over in darkness
-Both have an End Battle where they fight a Fusion of a Pre-established Mario main character and the New Villan (Super Dimentio and Dark Bowser)
-In both, the True Antagonist (Fawful and Dimentio) uses Mind Control. (Heck, Even Fawful used a Worm that looks similar to Dimentio Plant thing, specifically to enslave Chain chomps)
-Both games have a similar gimmick concept: 2 worlds, one 2D and one 3D.
-They both have a guide Type Female character that helps Mario in his Journey (Tippy and Starlow)
i wasn't expect to learn cool little details about Paper Mario today, but im glad I got this video on my recommendations, good content,
I never noticed how the lore or this game, and the Kirby series are so much alike.
Very interesting! Yeah I noticed the paper mario similarities when playing undertale too! Thanks for making this, I love this kind of stuff
i don’t have anything to add but i just want to say this was a great vid and keep them coming
I feel like I’m the Undertale section you forgot to mention that both games also have creepy spider girlies acting as maids and sad nobles with big capes acting as pseudo-final bosses
i absolutely LOVE spm and every content about it, finding this made my day better, especially considering its 2023, seeing content about this game nowdays is still so cool to me
and btw, i really like the way you editted the video! if you ever plan on doing more videos, keep up the good work!!
