Great video! I am Paraguayan, and I love when someone showcases our beautiful country. Please try to visit more places here; there are many exotic locations hidden around.
As Paraguayan we drink both. Tereré is cold for the summer or hot days (most of the year) typical drink. We also drink mate during winter. Shout out to you and for showing this amazing place! Don’t forget your Yerba! 🇵🇾❤️
You"ve been in the old downtown, not so many RUclipsrs go there, they usually go to the modern parts of Asunción, Comedor Las Delicias! Everyone that party and drink downtown ends up eating there before going home, thousands of stories on that sidewalk! Great video man!
good work. Look forward to seeing more videos of asuncion as not much content out there regarding nightlife, dating, wifi and general digital nomad life
We also have Indians from Paraguaway playing music in the summer on their traditional instruments. Imagine mountains, waterfalls, and that beautiful music. It's magical.
What’s make the soup thick is the corn’s flour. Bori bori de pollo, is chicken soup with corn flour dumplings. Ranked as the best soup in the world for 2 years consecutive.
Aim paraguayan .. Hello my friend, both terere and mate are of Paraguayan origin, since the Guaranies are those of Paraguay, Argentinians are not Guaranies but they adopted mate as a custom, mate is drunk at dawn and in very cold times in Paraguay and the terere every day due to the immense heat, the vori vori soup that you tried is considered the most delicious soup in the world by frets atlas (the balls are made of corn flour and cheese), but I regret that the one you tried is not traditional, I recommend you try typical foods in the "Ña eustaquia" franchises, it's like a McDonald's but with Paraguayan foods haha, you can find everything there and at a low price. PS: I recommend you try: -vori vori chicken -pyra white broth -soyo with tortilla -minced with tortilla - pureton - Paraguay soup (a solid soup with a soup flavor, unique in the world) -chipa guazu
There is a rivalry between lovers of Paraguayan soup and chipa guazu, since both are similar but not the same, there is a rivalry between team Paraguayan soup and team chipa guazu and both are accompaniments for liquor meals haha, if you try both dishes. Tell us which team you are from haha, oh and something else, yuca actually its real name is yuca, since the scientific name is Mandihot esculenta and in languages like French it is Mandioca and these names come from the Guaraní Mandi'o (Guarani is the native language of Paraguay, since we are the only Guaraní nation)
as a fellow man of color, please take this warning seriously: The country is running rampant with corruption internally. They are trying to clean it up, but I am a victim of the internal corruption which is (in my humble opinion) based upon bigotry towards people of color or foreigners in general. This is why the country recently had to pass a law to protect African Paraguayans. Now, I am not African, but I'm definitely a person of color. And based upon my personal observations of the country, there is a lack of people of color and a lack of protection for people of color. Discrimination is felt if you try to live in Asuncion long enough. It's subtle at first, but overt later on. Pay attention and you will see the behavior of certain people. And do not get me started on what's going on within certain institutions of PY. If you don't believe me, just ask a local to tell you. It's egregious. They run scams on foreigners and then to add insult to injury, they will use certain corrupt people who work for the govt to cover up and protect their scams. When I get a chance, I will talk about it in detail. But please do protect yourself. The people are generally good down here, but if push comes to shove, they will lie and they will deceive you. But that's worldwide. So just be careful. Don't let the Country's simplicity and initial lure fool you. There is a lot of trouble beneath the surface.
Dude, I’m as white as the come. I was born here and grew up in this great country and they’ve always tried scamming us white people, even though we speak Spanish. It’s the most normal thing anywhere in developing countries.
Most of the shops accept cards, but not those small places that are for workers in the area. There are many food places that serve good dishes. The market is more for humble people in the area.
Love Paraguay...beautiful country. Old part of the downtown. I lived in Asuncion for about 6 months in 2009 and loved it. I would love to go back again!
I was just there last month celebrating my one year anniversary with my wife there are a lot of good places in Paraguay to visit. You should also go out to the volcano that’s dormant. The money exchange rate you get ripped off every time I go they want crisp dollar bills, no marks and then they give you their shitty money. There are some fine restaurants in downtown. Try the shopping plaza del Sol
Hot humid like probably the most humid you'll ever be in your life, like a constant sauna outside, I wasn't expecting it to do humid and hot in Asuncion, other places in latin America are less hot and humid.
They also has mate (the one with hot water) in Paraguay, althoug is less popular than tereré, that by the way also is consumed in some parts of Argentina and Brazil. But mate is more extended, because also is consumed in all Argentina, Uruguay, the south of Brazil, rural areas of Chile, south of Bolivia and even in Syria and Lebanon (many decades ago, immigrants from there who were living in this part of South America, brought mate to their countries of origin).
@@tetekofaque pio le recomendas la campaña, no hay nio nada para hacer ahí, solo hay campo, ningún turista quiere ver eso. Y aunque te duela y aunque te arda Asuncion es lo único que se puede recomendar y Encarnación por la playa.

Did you visit the Presidential Palace and the House of Independence? The main avenue where all the old beautiful historical mansions are located is Avenida Mcal Lopez. The latest developments are Avenida Costanera along the river and the new comercial area East of the City,

Shalom and Hello 🇮🇱🇺🇸🇵🇾 Gorgeous to see President Peña recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, getting it correct and as he said it is “forever”. We look forward to promoting international social, economic and political policies together.
the terere thing is cold, and is traditional for paraguay, mate its from paraguay to but, it lost in the triple alianza war, and argentina made her version after the war, both are good, but for me the terere are the best
Talk about the interesting cultural habits, for example that they speak Guarani and every kid has to learn both Spanish and Guarani and the news are given in both la gragea, and that the most famous broadcaster is of Korean decent. There are a lot of interesting things about that country.
I hope you can visit the tourist's house on Palma Street. I live near Cerro Lambarè south of Asunciòn that place has a hill, the Paraguay River and coast(Costanera SuR) just 20 minutes south of the Center. Welcome.
I appreciate you sharing your experiences in countries than aren’t visited much by other RUclipsrs. I think that they know that you’re from the U.S because of the glasses. Not many young people wear glasses.
It might be more helpful if you translate into English what you are eating .. Like the pollo ( chicken) or the pira caldo ((fish soup- usually catfish). I guess its a generational thing ; but I notice another traveler your age doesnt do much research either on where they are; but your manner is very open and friendly and I like your vibe.
You have to be careful of the mosquitoes which are numerous and which carry the disease and the dogs which can be aggressive too. But otherwise it is a very nice country.
hey, what's up sly, you're a globetrotter, but listen putting lemon in a soup actually kills the natural flavor, try it without the lemon first, but enjoy your time in there, it's interesting.
well...dropping my 2cents for ya: the triple alliance war(Argentine,Brazil n Uruguay)decimated 80% of the Paraguayan population, anexing about 50% of paraguayan territory, that's why in all those countries terere and mate are drunk...though,the plant called yerba mate is PARAGUAYAN as the Stevia plant is aswell. So in 1 sentence:Yerba mate IS Paraguayan (cientific names Yeba mate: ILEX PARAGUAYENSIS Stevia: STEVITA PARAGUAYENSIS)
Not too many Paraguayans has an amerindian physical appearance without much admixture. Most are mixed r4ce (usually a mix among amerindian and white) or white. Those who look amerindian probably are like 6% of the population.
I think this is the old city center (near the river). The new city center is modern. However, outside of that I think it’s pretty much either like this or rural land.
