My granddaughter was in a fatal car crash today in the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, the air bags deployed saving her life as well as her 4 year old daughter. The car was demolished, yet they walked away. Sore and afraid, yet thankful.

I wouldn't give Chevrolet too much credit. The car this replaced, the cobalt, killed several of its drivers because of a design flaw that Chevrolet tried to cover up and failed. They lost a class action lawsuit as a result.

@@dylanverkler4552 Of course it does. Turn your brain on. Buy an economy car from Honda or Toyota as they're much more likely to not conceal flaws that kills its customers, never mind let such an issue get past quality control in the first place, as they're actual serious companies.

I'm actually a Honda guy.i rented a Cruze to drive 2000 miles round trip around the US. It performed well. I liked it. I actually got 45 mpg on the highway and I'm the CC, the car actually sat at 46.7 mpg on the highway for a while. I didn't care for the climate control and it lacked power, but did have the torque n quick gear shift that it did fine. Like I said, I'm a Honda guy.

I rented this car and was very impressed overall with the one HUGE caveat mentioned in the video. This car has the worst rear visibility of any car I have driven. I don't know what the designers are thinking with these ever rising belt lines and ever narrowing rear windows. Even seeing blind spots was tough with the door pillars and headrests blocking the view. I have driven 35 years without an accident and almost had one in this car because I couldn't see cars in the blindspot.
The drive feels was quite good, stop start was unobtrusive,, power adequate and gas mileage was crazy good. I drove 150 miles and the gas gauge had only dropped a little over the 1/8th of a tank mark. So little use, the guy at Enterprise said he wouldn't charge me for the gas. When does that happen. If the GM design folks can improve rear visibility, I would definitely consider this car.

I've driven Toyotas most of my life and have had a poor opinion of Chevy (ignition gate) so imagine my surprise at the Toronto Auto Show when I decided to take a peek at the Chevy Bolt and discovered the Cruze and Malibu. Both cars were stylish, comfortable, and had lots of leg and head room. I'll be honest, I never considered either of these cars, but as I was disappointed with the lackluster Corolla and oddly shaped Civic, I am now seriously considering the Cruze. Looking forward to a test drive once the weather gets better.

The Chevrolet Cruze was my top choice for a first car, but the problem was I remembered being told by my doctor that I'm suppose to go past 6 feet tall, which could mean it would be a bit cramped for me. Sadly, I now have to look at mid-size cars, and I already picked the Volkswagen Passat, but if I could have a compact car, I would love to have a Cruze. I was in my neighbor's first generation Cruze. While I thought of it to be a bit ugly on the outside, it was very comfortable with plenty of space on the inside.

The 2014 Chevy Cruz LT1 I think it was, is a nice car. We had it as a rental car. Handled amazing, heated leather seats, and I left wanting to keep it for myself. It accelerated very fast and got excellent mpg. Another car that a lot of people wouldn't expect to do good on gas mileage is the Kia Optima. I got to 41mpg this past summer in mostly highway driving in Central/Northern Cali. It handles excellent, and takes off fast. I have a 2014 Civic with a CVT. I hate CVT transmissions, they take the fun out of driving. How is it that auto manufacturers outside of Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are able to manufacture a car to get 40mpg on the highway with a 6 speed automatic transmission. If they can do it, so can Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.

I've put 15k miles on my 2018 LT RS in the past 2 years and I've enjoyed it overall. My highest mpg on the highway was 46mpg from WI to PA and I usually get 28mpg in the city. It's plenty comfortable for me, quiet at high speed, brakes bite well, and it's surprisingly peppy with the turbo. Hopefully with my punctual maintenance I hope to get many more miles without major issues! 🤞
In terms of let downs, even with the Bose audio package the sound is not the best. Like Micah pointed out, I was also disappointed there is a short bit of play in the steering. Another inconvenience that I have gotten used to doing every time I drive is shift to L and up to 6. This way, I can bypass the auto stop/start. Plus, like others with GDI cars, I worry about carbon build up issues down the road too.

Something Chevy seems to do well is start-stop system. I driven a 2013 Malibu 2.4 and while I hated almost everything about it, the start-stop system on that car was a surprise; the sequence was smoother than my mother's Mercedes-Benz equipped with the same system. Kudos to GM for making that work out.
The mk2 Cruze is nice, but the problem is I don't think it trumps the 2017 mk10 (!) Civic. It has a good deal more power, cost about the same but strikes back with better styling & Honda reliability. Other than that, I would pick this Cruze over anything else in the segment, especially even more so once that Diesel Cruze comes back with VW now out of the picture.

It works out SO well in the South. It goes KA-THUNK, and there goes the air conditioning. With 100% humidity, that's SUCH a plus. Then, when traffic starts again and the tank behind you is gunning up your backend, you have to stomp that POS like you would a cockroach to get it to come back and get you out of the way. Oh, and when I am driving through less-than-great hoods, the AutoStop puts me in complete danger of being carjacked because I have to feed all the hamsters under the hood lots of RedBull to get me the hell out of there. Yeah, that's something I love.

Did you mention the annoying start stop feature that can't be turned off? Imagine traffic jams in 100 plus temperatures and your baking inside because the engine is off and you can't disable the crappy start/stop feature to keep the cold air coming. No sale!

Don't get me started on this shit. Most new cars come with this crap. Audi has them too. I always ask who is the genius who came up with that. Most be again from the green propaganda, so they try to please that lobby in order to sell cars.

I like new despite the depreciation. That's because then I know it has always been driven properly (limiting throttle and revs during warm up is especially important), been fed good gasoline and proper oil and coolant changes. My cars tend to last many many miles without drivetrain problems.

    • @jayz4evr

thomas ankner yeah they always say that then when you actually go there to seal the deal they'll give you half of that and no a 2014 cruze even with 2000 miles isn't worth 14000 even if you tried to sell it yourself good luck getting that from the dealer

I wonder how good this car really is, the commercials and the bad feedback really ruined my first impression of it but... it looks good inside and out, and realistically, I don't care about this extra safety shit. I've only driven older cars anyway, I know how to drive with common sense. I just wish it was faster for highways while maintaining a quiet smooth cabin. My current chevy impala is perfect for that.

    • @bmw803

Just like any other car on the market. Many people make opinions based on brand name and obviously will diss anything else they don't like. So the best thing is to try it out for yourself and make your own opinion. I bought one in august 2017 and it's really nice. No problems so far and I already have 6,600 miles on it.

    • @matthews95_
      @matthews95_ 6 лет назад

Exactly, I just can't and won't be able to afford a car NEW so I would get used next time, so experiencing a car and its perfection (mileage under around 20k) isn't really an option at this point lol

I have a 2017 manual: i like it, it's good on gas and the engine is well behaved. But the steering is vague and has NO feel whatsoever, the dash is SLAPED together, my shift knob is already wearing down; i only have 18 000 miles on it. It's practical though, and comfortable.
Buy this car if your top priorities are this: you want comfort while also having a very well tuned engine for cheap. Quality? No, at that price point asian manufacturers are largely superior.
