Great job on video. My 2018 RAM 2500 sensor went bad some months back. I consulted with my buddy at the RAM dealership and he did say that inside the bottle there is a magnet and that they recommend replacing the whole bottle not just the sensor. And after watching your video it has more or less convinced me to just swap out the bottle as if I completed all that work for the sensor and the light did not go out I’d probably be a little bit upset. Thx again man.

It's likely NOT the sensor. Change the whole tank. You can get a Dorman for just over $100 or so on rock auto. If you do not keep up on coolant changes your sensor float can stick down. The actual sensor can be changed WITHOUT draining the antifreeze.

What if you change the low coolant sensor and it still says the coolant is low? We went through this and ended up replacing the whole tank. We have a 2017 Dodge RAM 2500 diesel. After taking the old tank off we cut it open and there is a float inside that was at fault, the sensor does not even touch the antifreeze. This float got saturated somehow. We places it in a bucket of water and it went straight to the bottom. So if you are having the low coolant level light on and replaced the sensor and you still get the light, I would bet that’s your problem. I am going to post a video on here to explain.

@@mr.tennessee Where did you get your tank from? I'm looking on line, and it looks like it doesn't come with a new sensor? I have a 2014, 3500 and since Fiat bought them, I've had nothing but issues. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

    • @mr.tennessee

@@Planet-Forger you can get it at Dodge but it’s more expensive and it does come with a sensor. Or you can get a tank and put a sensor in then put it on.

If you replace the sensor and light is still on you need to replace the coolant tank as the magnetic float is stuck inside the tank

    • @mr.tennessee

Yeah did that and the light went off for a few days and than came back on.

Happened to me after draining my coolant to replace my turbo actuator. From what I've been told when you drain your coolant sediment can cause the float to stick to the bottom. I haven't tried it yet but I'm thinking about just bringing it up to operating temperature and tapping on it with a hammer. Or maybe just pull the reservoir and try to flush it myself. Idk. I'll report back.

Hey there Mr. Tennessee, did you get your winch yet? HB has the Badlands Apex 12K with synth rope for $599. That's $200 less than it was back in August. They did have it down to $549 for insiders membership. It's as if they're dangling that winch in front of you, knowing YOU want to get one! LOL
