    I bought the Infinity pack earlier this year and am really enjoying it. The Generations pack was a pleasant surprise and I started working with it immediately. Many, many great kits to use and play around with. I was impressed to see you added a Dave Weckl kit and wondered if a Dennis Chambers kit might be something to put together? He's been pretty consistent with the Pearl kit he's used with a lot of fusion jazz gigs as well as the time with Santana. In addition, what about a Steve Jordan kit in the mid-2000s around the time of the live album with John Mayer. A really big sounding bass drum and a snare with a twang to it. And last I'll throw out a request for the Genesis/Phil Collins/Chester Thompson variety, which I think could fit into the 70's, or maybe more appropriately the 80's, section. But more something from the bigger live performances over the studio sound.
    Looking forward to seeing more of the videos to create custom kits!

    Alan you are amazing! This Generation pack is absolutely awesome. Every kit in this pack is very useful and sounds incredibly good. I love the nice punchy kick drums in these kits as well as the nice dark and long lasting cymbals which sound very nice with a lot of slow songs. These kits take my drum playing up to the next level. You have an amazing talent my friend. The kits are exactly the same as the artists drummers you intended them to be. I don't know how you do it but, you must make a Generations 2 pack because this is definitely your best work you have ever done, not to say all your other work wasn't, but this time you out did yourself. My request would be for bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Eagles, Steely Dan, and a real SIMMONS sounding kit for songs like Eurythmics and other songs and bands that used SIMMONS kits back in the day. I used to have the Red and black SD-9 Simmons kit 30 years ago but sold them long ago. I wish I still had them. Thank you very much Alan! I also have your other 3 TD-50 kits as well, all of them are awesome. Keep up the fantastic work you all do at VEX. Say hi to Chris for me. Take care, Your friend John P. from Toronto Canada.

      Thank you kindly for those kudos! I think I want to do a Gen2, but it takes so long to do these types of packs. We’ll see. Gotta few videos to shoot, now that I’m feeling better. (been sick for over a week) Thanks again!

    This pack is amazing. I swear my playing improves when the kit sounds great. And these really do. Love the Bonham and Beauford kits the most. Giant sounds, but very dynamic. These were made with care. Some nice bonuses on the aux triggers too!

    This is great. I’m so exited to see this because we have been emailing back and fourth about this kit. I’d love you see you make a Travis Barker blink 182 kit

    After messing around with every kit in Generations for an hour, I spent the next hour playing each Gen X kit to a drumless version of the corresponding band. Wow! The kits sound great and fit perfectly!

    Downloaded Generations about a week back, held out on this for a while as I wasn’t sure, took the plunge and decided to go for it. Man am I glad I did, the best part for me was, straight out, there are actual useable kits which sound amazing. With my stock TD50 sounds (artist pack) I had maybe 3 kits in my set list. Now I seem to be adding too many kits and cant decide which is better :D. Thanks Alan.

    Hi Alan, great pack. I play in an 80’s party band, this provides some great kits for most of the guitar-based rock favourites (Bon Jovi, Europe, Def Leppard, Huey Lewis, Glenn Frey etc). As you say, I think you’ve pretty much covered most needs when it comes to acoustic kits. What I would really love to see next is some kits for use in electronica and more synth based pop music. Duran Duran (Roto’s!), Human League, A-ha are all floor fillers for us where I could use some help getting good sound palettes together.

      Be sure to check out the VH kit’s rotos. I also have those in another kit, with slightly different tuning. Sorry, which kit escapes me. I’ll take a listen to some of the other stuff you’ve mentioned and see what I can do. We’re always listening to requests. 😊

    I bought the infinity and I've been using it live with my band. We host a blues jam and everyone that has used my kit has raved about the sound. I have an ATV drum expanded kit with the TD-50 Digital upgrade. I also bought a Pearl Throne Thumper and I can really feel the drums. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with the factory sounds from the TD-50, but the Infinity pack has changed all of that. I am seriously considering getting the Generations pack. Alan, you've really done an amazing job with the TD-50!

    Danny Carey - Tool. I had your TD-20 and now that I have a TD-50 I really want it. Preferably something from Lateralus instead of the Sober kit you made for the TD-20. Thanks!

    Hi, if it's not too late and you want new ideas for a future pack, there are a few of these drummers's kits that I would love to see in there and that I'm sure a lot of people would love too and that are different from what's already in the pack as they have very distinct sounds harder to obtain from typical pop/rock kits that mostly dominate the pack so far:
    70s:
    Nick Mason from pink floyd
    steve gadd from al di meola
    phil collins from genesis
    Andy ward from Camel
    80s
    Ian mosley from marillion
    rayfford griffith from Jean-Luc Ponty
    Alan parson's project
    90s
    Mike portnoy's purple monster from liquid tension through scenes from a memory and falling into infinity (I would have hoped that you took this one instead of images and words as it's more different from mangini's)
    Nick Menza from Megadeth
    Fudge Smith from Pendragon
    Travis Barker from Blink 182
    2000s:
    The rev from avenged sevenfold
    Martin Lopez from Opeth
    Gavin Harrison from porcupine tree
    Danney Carey from Tool
    Joey Jordison from Slipknot
    2010s:
    Martin Axenrot also from Opeth
    Jay Postones from Tesseract
    Marco Minnemann from Steven Wilson
    Blake Richardson from Between the buried and me
    A good pro to adding many of these is that they are bands with amazing drummers and so it is likely that many drummers will also like these bands and want to replicate these kits. A lot of kits so far have a very classic approach, most of them very good bands and music but necessarily drummer oriented music.

    Am excited about this pack. I hope it get's me out of my buyers TD-50's remorse. With all the rage is the pearl mimic. Again, hope this pack changes my mind with more realistic drum sounds.

  • @danolding3807
    @danolding3807 5 лет назад +1

    Hey Alan, just got through your video, VERY excited. :-)
    My suggestion would be a late 80's "Hair Metal" type kit. I know you have Tesla, but they had a very different sound to the late 80's bands drum-wise (very different band to standard hair metal as well). I am thinking Bon Jovi - New Jersey, Bad English - S/T, Motley Crue - Dr Feelgood type sound..... Hair '89. :-)

      I just said this in my post: "I would love for y'all to put out a small 12-20 kit pak of nothing but 80's metal sounds. There is a lot of us drummers who play that genre alone. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ratt, Accept, Scorpions, Skid Row, GnR, Megadeth, Poison, Motley Crue, etc!!!"

  • @costa3084
    @costa3084 5 лет назад +2

    my suggestion is to mix kits in a live band environment running the TD50 through a PA to get the real deal sound mix. These kits sound great playing along to drumless tracks or through head phones but through a PA the kits are not what they should be, just saying , not hating

    • @VExpressionsLTD
      @VExpressionsLTD  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately, that would be useless, because everyone's PA and environment are different. However, I could simulate a similar situation through a DAW for a video. I actually already touched on it in one of the early Mimic videos.

    Hey Alan and Chris, I have some request for the R&B/Hip Hop and Gospel community. I would love to get some kicks and snares from the king of "The New Jack Swing" super producer [Teddy Riley from the groups Guy - song Teddy's Jam 2, artist Bobby Brown's - song "My Prerogative", group Backstreet - song "Baby be Mine" and Michael Jackson's song "In The Closet"] Earth Wind and Fire anything from the All and All album, [ gospel drummer Calvin Rodgers endorsing Meinl Cymbals on RUclips - song Free indeed THAT KIT ALONE (OMG) ] the drummer for Dirty Loops" on RUclips - song "Next to you" (Yeah)

    • @thedeevineswebenquiries
      @thedeevineswebenquiries 3 года назад

      @Robert Burns Yeah for real, I feel most of these kits on the expansion pack are focused on the rock/metal/indie drummer. Nothing much here for the R&B/Soul/Funk drummers out there. Would absolutely love a reggae kit too - if you could reproduce Carlton Barrett sound (Bob Marley's drummer), that would be good.

    Can sound be triggered via midi?

    • @VExpressionsLTD
      @VExpressionsLTD  5 лет назад

      Technically, if you have a TD-50, you could trigger it from an external source. Not sure I understand the question properly. Generations works within the Roland TD-50. Thus, you'd have to trigger the sounds within the module from an external unit. (e.g. triggering from another module, keyboard, DAW, etc.)

  • @kenbird2742

    First of all I hated the sounds on the TD-50. I felt I had better sounds on my TD-10. Bought the infinity pack... LOVED it. Finally something I could work with. Saw this pack this morning, and thought it sounded great. My problem is, I have my biggest gig of the year tomorrow. What to do??? I bought the Generations pack and I have only played with it for less than an hour. Friends... This pack is simply AMAZING!!!! Thank you Alan and V Expressions for looking after us. You Rock!
