- Times when fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jordan Leavitt and others simply picked up and moved the fight from one location to another to get a HUGE advantage. Check out www.selfdefens... (my site) for more training and fighting insights gleaned from 41 years of martial arts training
Great advice Stephan thank you! I'm a 140lb dude and I'll never forget the time I locked up a triangle and was lifted up 6ft in the air by a giant training partner and luckily he was nice but it helped me understand the dangers of what could happen in a self defense scenario. Great video!
Absolutely - my instructor say on the street if that happens let go of that triangle fast…😜
Wow Whit friends like you who needs enemies lol
Ossss, especially weapons (including the environment e.g. a brick wall, steel rail, cement walkway).
Good video. Fight move, we move
moving the fight requires engaging system 2 type of thinking. Problem is, your system 2 will be all but shut down, and system 1 will be in charge. And system 1 does not like to release control.
You need either
- to be winning to easily that you have spare cycles to think logically
- or to be losing so badly that you give up on fighting and start thinking
- or to have tremendous experience *fighting* - not sparring or competing - so this kind of tactics gets programmed into system 1. Which is all but impossible, unless you're a criminal. Which is why they're rather good at it.
This is great advice, Professor.
Thank you!
You’re very welcome. And please, call me Stephan
When someone tries to stand up in triangle, just hook their leg with your arm. See Josh Barnett vs Gordon Ryan and the latest Khabib fight against Dustin.
