- The wall drill is a foundational exercise for training effective knee strikes for self defense, kickboxing, or MMA. It'll teach you how to engage your hips and how to throw multiple skip knees in succession, one after another, until your opponent is incapacitated. While you're here I also invite you to grab my self defense library for free at selfdefensetut....
Good luck with your training,
Stephan Kesting
I used to do this with poles, exercise equipment and a few other places over the year's i recently got a stand up punching bag so I'm good now
I see that the running man is actually just modern capoeira for knees!
Do you have favorite drills for knees that strike up or to the side other than just doing reps on pads or a heavy bag?
I'm not 100% sure that this is what you want but it may help... ruclips.net/video/LPhgsrFtswc/видео.html
Good stuff
I am a LEO in Belgium and will be giving hand-to-hand combat training soon. Knee strikes are part of the program and I will definitly incorporate the drill. Thanks for the tip!
I'm so glad that this was useful. It's a great practical drill but also a good warmup exercise to get the blood flowing
Thanks for the tip, now I can see what my next door neighbors is up to now.
Karate front stance the essential part obviously ;)
How close should our foot be to our butt? Is more leg bend better?
You want the knee bent but you also don't want to do overdo it. For a vertical knee strike (say to the head) having the shin vertical is fine. But if you're really stabbing it forward as opposed to up then you want to bend the knee more
